Description

The space

Fernleecove is a boat or paddle access cabin only, no roads connect to it from town--meaning you’ll need water transportaion to the cabin. I offer a round trip pickup and dropoff to get you to and from the cabin for $80 CDN cash total or $60 USD cash total. This includes everyone in your party for the same, one time price. Let me know If you need or don't need water transportation upon booking. The water taxi fee is to be paid before departing from Deep Cove.

Generally guests remain at the cabin for their booking and unless you have your own water transportation, so it's necessary to bring all food needed for the duration of your stay.

There are rock and wood steps leading up from the dock to the 500 sqft cabin. In the main area of cabin is the kitchen, living room with a couch, table and fireplace. Attached to this space is a small storage closet, a bathroom and a small bedroom that sleeps two comfortably. There are electric baseboards throughout for it's primary heating so it's easy keep warm in the winter.

The cabin is limited to two extra guests. This is mainly because of septic field limitations. Two single foam beds can be supplied on request.

For guests staying in JUNE to OCTOBER check in time is 3:30pm and check out time is 10:00am. Up till then I can be flexible with check in and out times if there are no same day bookings.

Guest access

During your stay the cabin, dock, and surrounding woods are yours to explore! As guests you will have the following available...

KITCHEN: Electric stove, fridge & freezer, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, kettle, basic kitchen wares, UV filtered drinking water (in the kitchen and bathroom faucets), basic cooking ingredients like salt, pepper, oil, sugar, and butter.

BATHROOM: Shower, stocked with shampoo, hand soap, bath towels, and toilet paper.

OUTDOORS/PATIO: Private dock moorage, 2 kayaks & life jackets, covered patio, barbecue and firewood.

MISC: An indoor fireplace (firewood supplied), WIFI (disconnected if requested), and good cell phone coverage.

Interaction with guests

I can be reached if you need assistance with anything via cell phone or Airbnb messaging. I also may be boat taxiing you to and from the cabin depending on your transportation arrangements.

The neighborhood

Fernleecove’s location is great because it is close to Vancouver and yet still relatively remote in an quiet, forested inlet north of the city.

This cabin is one of two properties in the immediate area, both have access to their own beaches, private docks and their own privacy.

Getting around

WATER TAXI: If you've arranged a boat ride from me to the cabin I will be picking you up from the Government Dock (Gallant Wharf) in Deep Cove, ($80 in CDN cash OR $60 USD cash). For map reference this is close to the cross streets: Gallant Ave. & Banbury Rd.

PARKING: If you’re driving your car to Deep Cove you can use the loading zone near the pier to unload before parking. There is a parking lot across the street from the docks and it is legal to park on the street for three days unless signage says otherwise. There is a map of Deep Cove in my listing photos showing the ideal parking area "P36" and in my Airbnb guidebook this parking area is marked.

For visitors coming from the Vancouver International Airport taking a taxi or bus to Deep Cove takes on roughly 1 to 2 hours.

If you’re planning to get to Deep Cove by bus the bus stop is just uphill of the Government Dock (Gallant Wharf). For bus schedules search: tripplanning translink . Getting to Deep Cove from Vancouver takes 1-3 buses depending on the time of day and the selected bus route.

If you take your own water transportation Fernleecove is on the west side of the inlet (North Vancouver side). It's just a little north of Twin Islands (Belcarra side) and just west of the Brighton Beach community.

Other things to note

CLEANING FEE: A $250 CDN cleaning fee is charged when booking the cabin. $200 CDN is refunded at my discretion based on adherence to the following:
• GENERAL CLEANUP: Cabin is returned neat and tidy / in the same condition as it was received
• KITCHEN: All dishes and kitchen wares are cleaned up including the coffee maker etc. & put away
• USED LINENS: Used bed sheets, pillow cases (not blankets), used bathroom and kitchen linens put into the linen basket in the laundry room

CRABBING: A “tidal water sport license” is necessary for crabbing in Canada, so if you have yours let me know and I’ll leave a crab trap on the dock for you. You can get your own license online--just web search "BC Sport Fishing Guide - Crabs and Crabbing" to buy yours and to find information on crabbing regulations. I suggest bringing fish or chicken scraps for bait as the crabs seem to like these best. For cooking crabs there is a large pot at the cabin and a blue plastic bucket for bringing them back up to the cabin.

WILDLIFE: Since 2015 there have been many sightings of Mountain Lions in Deep Cove and the Cascade/Fernleecove/Brighton beach areas. Be aware of this and travel with caution around the property.

Did a one-person weeklong writing retreat here, and it was just perfect. Was able to do some hiking and got a lot of work done in an inspiring setting. James was great, and quickly responded to any questions I had. A truly beautiful place.

Perfect for a weekend away. From morning coffee surrounded by trees and waterfalls to hikes through the forest to paddling the inlet, we couldn't have been happier. Exactly how I would imagine a secluded cabin on the water.

Really secluded and private, but James stays just round the corner so can help with anything you need. The fishing licence was a good idea, we caught tons of crab! A lovely place to go kayaking, hiking or just chill out away from the city. James was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Loved it.

Fern Lee Cove is one of those rare gems on AirBNB that makes for an outstanding vacation. The location is stunning, the cabin is cosy and well equipped, and James is a true gentleman and great host. I'll be recommending the cabin to friends and family.
