large deck overlooking 2 acre wooded lot in town. Great place to unwind or have coffee in the morning
Mary Margaret and Wayne were gracious hosts. There home is beautiful with a private bedroom and bath and a nice deck to relax. The neighborhood is very pretty with lots of trees. The house is conveniently located near the campus and the Square. Mary Margaret and Wayne are a great resource for recommending restaurants, entertainment and other points of interest. Highly recommended if staying in the Oxford area.
Mary Margaret was a great hostess and we had a very enjoyable stay with her and her husband. They were very accommodating and lots of fun to be around. The home is lovely and has a wonderful deck out back for relaxing if you can find the time. Oxford has so much to offer we did not have a lot of down time to enjoy the deck but maybe next time. We will definitely stay with them again.
Mary Margaret and her husband were very welcoming and made us feel right at home by sending us to the restaurant where their son worked as a sous chef. The dinner was one of the best on our trip. She also gave us tips about a pottery studio in Merrigold where we bought a wedding gift. We could never have found this on our own. Her husband gave us a colorful, insider's history of Oxford. The next day we were sent to see Bill at the Faulkner house who regaled us with more stories about William Faulkner and his life in Oxford and Hollywood.
This is my first review ever and the first time using air B&B. I loved it! The hosts, Mary Margaret and Wayne made me feel like a family member in their beautiful home. Learning about their commitment to the Oxford community over Wayne's excellent breakfast was one of the highlights of my two day trip to visit my son at Ole Miss. This will be my first choice when I return on my next visit!
I cannot overemphasise how brilliant our stay was with Mary Margaret and Wayne. They made us feel right at home in their beautiful home from the moment we arrived. It was raining and they insisted on driving us into town. We were enjoying their hilarious company so much that we asked them to come to the bar with us. They ditched their theatre plans to come to the bar, take us to a beautiful restaurant (Snack Bar) and then another bar whose name I can't recall because I was drunk, but there was great live music there. They took us to the Chevron garage in the early hours for chicken on a stick. Then as if all that wasn't enough, Wayne was up at 8am making us a wonderful breakfast of coffee, eggs, bacon, bagels, toast, fruit and OJ. Without a doubt my best ever airbnb experience. These people are deservedly ranked as super hosts, but there should be a new elite tier created for them: ultra hosts.
Mary Margaret and Wayne were great hosts. They gave superb recommendations for dining and drinking in Oxford, as well as offering anything that I could find in their fridge! They also gave me access to their wi-fi network and told me to call or text with any questions at any time. They even have a friendly little dog.
The house is set far back on a dead-end, wooded lane, which makes it wonderfully quiet. However, it is only about a five-minute walk to the Ole Miss campus, and a few minutes' drive or a 20-minute walk to the bustling town square. That best-of-both-worlds makes it an ideal location.
The room was comfortable--especially the bed--with an attached bathroom which I believe is shared with the opposite bedroom, although there were no other guests that night.
I was only passing through and needed a place to sleep and a base from which to explore Oxford nightlife, and this place was perfect for that. But it would also be a good spot to relax for a while, perhaps sitting in the solarium with a book, overlooking the wooded ravine and soaking in the peaceful solitude. I definitely recommend it for any type of traveller, especially couples or singles, but also groups--they rent out the entire house.
