My husband and I were touring the Stryia region of Austria by car and visited Margriet's guest house for two nights! Breakfast was excellent, eggs, meat, fruit and great coffee! The bed was very comfortable! The view from our room was idyllic overlooking farms and fields of grape vines! Margariet recommended restaurants for dinner and had a binder of information about the region for us to look at! You definately want to be travelling by car to visit the guest house and the region as the sites and restaurants are not in walking distance. We had a great time, even in the rain, touring a nearby chocolate factory, cheese maker, a site that prepared superb ham, multiple wineries and nearby hiking trails! Cheers, Ann and Mark!
This is a nice place to spend some quiet time away from the city. You have to be a good driver, roads are very narrow and curvy. The hosts are helpful and friendly, the rooms are nice and clean and breakfast is good. Overall we had a very nice stay.
I have been born in the Netherlands and married at an early age, after finishing school and having worked in the social sector. My husband and I raised five children and we founded a business in glass specials.
As my husband is from Austria, our interests in this country are so intense, that at a certain moment we purchased land near his home town, Kapfenstein, in order to build a house. We wanted to run a Bed and Breakfast and realized the design and building ourselves, during a series of holidays. We moved to Austria in 2006 and having been living here since. Per 2009 we opened the B&B and the first Glass art museum.
The interior has been taken years, by collecting fine materials that are a nice fit. Each room as its own theme and color scheme, including today’s luxury. My husband is hosting workshops and courses in stained glass and we get visits from all over the world. The feedback we get is that they feel at home and enjoy their stay.
