Kevin and his family were very gracious hosts. Their home is beautiful and the bedroom was wonderful. All the accommodations were great. They helped me out with the few things I needed.
Most importantly, the Internet was strong and reliable.
Their house is located in a very busy urban neighborhood so if this is not your thing it would not be a good fit. There were food stores nearby as well as a soda for meals. I easily caught a bus that took me to downtown San Jose.
Casa de Piedra is a lovely and exceptional place to stay. My upstairs room, lovely; with balcony and a sweet bathroom. Gardens and stonework all around and a beautiful yoga-meditation room, (yoga classes, meditation, and massage available, some other special events which are spiritual-oriented and interesting) there are various comfortable sitting areas, kitchen, travel plans assistance, on bus route, taxis, all available.
This is a 100 yr old once-upon-a-time coffee plantation farmhouse, with gorgeous wood and tile floors; simply and lovingly kept; always clean, but not "sterile" like standard hotels. Casa de Piedra has personality; is loved and cared for. Everyone i encountered here has been very nice: there is Bernarda, who cheerfully moves about the house cleaning, the various holistic healing practitioners, the yoga teacher, the el Señor Rooster-morning alarm clock …And In particular, the entire family who owns and maintains (they live elsewhere) this beautiful property and guesthouse; All are personable; gracious, kind, good humored and with great integrity. i was warmly welcomed and felt "at home". Sorry to leave Casa de Piedra! I feel so fortunate to have encountered this extraordinary family (who speak Spanish of course, and also English!) and to have found this Very Special Place.
I highly recommend this little bit of paradise.
This place is beautiful and the the hosts are great. It is owned by a family and is an old house that used to be the main house for a local finch. It's a hundred yard old and beautifully kept up. The bed in the main room is very comfortable with a lovely view of Escazu. There is a balcony that overlooks a lovely garden. Really this place is top notch. The host family is warm and generous, the room and house and grounds are beautiful, and our stay was completely smooth. I highly recommend staying here. I really can't say enough good things.
