Speaking of walking distance... the flat is right in the city centre. 2 minutes to the nearest Starbucks, bakeries, pubs, restaurants; pretty much anything you need is just around the corner. If you're the artistic and cultural type, the art gallery, music hall, library, and theatre are just around the corner too (all within a few minutes walk). Although relatively quiet, on weekend evenings you may hear the occasional person singing along the road on their way home. Office locations such as Union Plaza, Golden Square, Ernst & Young, and Talisman House are all short walks away. City centre buses can be accessed from just down the road.
Bus stops are located within 3 minute walking distance that take you to unimaginable lovely destinations; direct routes to most parts of the city including destinations such as the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), both universities (University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University), and more are available from just down the road of the flat. The train station (and central bus station) is just a short 10-13 minute walk away too. Taxis too/from the airport are relatively cheap and it's a quick 15-20 minute drive, depending on traffic.
There's a public car park that's relatively cheap and a minute walk away. Parking is also available on the surrounding streets and is free overnight (usually 6/8/10pm - 8am depending on the street).
The flat is inside an old high-rise building, and although not pretty from the outside, it's kept very well. All my neighbours are extremely nice people; some are elderly and some are younger professionals like myself. The high-rise building is kept well, with cleaners coming in every other day. There is a communal launderette that can be used. A wash costs £1. Wireless internet is free to use.
We are non-smokers and would appreciate if you do not smoke in the flat. There's a balcony that's spacious enough to hang about and have a smoke.
I will be living in the other bedroom during your visit, so please be aware of this! I am a welcoming individual who enjoys travelling, and look forward to hosting :)
You are welcome to make yourself at home and make use of all facilities at the flat. As mentioned in the description, our kitchen is fully fitted and ready to be used! You're more than welcome to help yourself to basic ingredients in the kitchen too and store your food in the fridge.
Interaction with Guests
I will always be present whilst I am hosting (i.e. I will not accept AirBnB offers whilst I am away, simply because of the logistics for key exchange), so as mentioned in the listing, please bear in mind that I also live in this flat.
Saying that, I believe interaction comes naturally... If everyone is in the kitchen/living room, then of course there is interaction! However, I am a quiet individuals and give you peace and quiet when you need it. Your bedroom is private, and I will never disturb you in it.
The flat is very central, in the AB10 post code. There are plenty of buses just down the road that can take you to all parts of the city. The Central Library, His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen's Music Hall, and many other places are within a few minutes walking distance. Supermarket/Grocery shops are also close by and stock a wide range of foods and other essentials. They are open early to late from Monday to Sunday, so unless you are up in the middle of the night, you'll always be able to shop there. There are plenty of restaurants too, from British pub grub, Italian, Turkish, Indian, Chinese, etc. etc.
Walking is the easiest way to get around the city centre. If you are planning to go further out, buses are available just down the road. Taxis are available too for pickup at the flat. The main train station and central bus station (located at Union Square) allow for travelling outside of the city and is about 10-13 minute walk away from the flat.
Other Things to Note
I am flexible on check-in/out, but please bear in mind that requests for extremely early or late check-in/out should be communicated so I can arrange for this.
No smoking indoors; there's a balcony for that! Please don't bring pets. Don't wear dirty shoes around the whole flat! Be considerate as I'll be considerate too. All communal areas are available to use, so feel free to use the kitchen. (please keep tidy and do wash dishes after use!) A towel will be provided. Overall, treat it as a home :)
