Cosy private bedroom in city centre

Apartment - Private room · Gilcomstoun Land, Kidd Street, Aberdeen, Scotland AB10 1TA, United Kingdom

The Space

Cosy private single bedroom available to anyone who needs a place to stay in Aberdeen city centre! The bedroom is fully equipped with all the usuals: a comfy bed to get your sleep on, a desk so you can write poems, a mirror to check yourself out, plenty of lighting so you can see things and not bump into anything, and also a wardrobe for handing all your fabulous clothes! The shared bathroom has a warm shower, and (although not huge) is very comfortable to use. The shared kitchen is fully equipped with the usuals such as cooker, fridge, microwave and kettle, etc so you can demonstrate your culinary skills! Alternatively, there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Please note, the iMac is not for use by guests (and will most likely be removed before any visitors arrive)!

Speaking of walking distance... the flat is right in the city centre. 2 minutes to the nearest Starbucks, bakeries, pubs, restaurants; pretty much anything you need is just around the corner. If you're the artistic and cultural type, the art gallery, music hall, library, and theatre are just around the corner too (all within a few minutes walk). Although relatively quiet, on weekend evenings you may hear the occasional person singing along the road on their way home. Office locations such as Union Plaza, Golden Square, Ernst & Young, and Talisman are all short walks away. City centre buses can be accessed from just down the road.

Bus stops are located within 3 minute walking distance that take you to unimaginable lovely destinations; direct routes to most parts of the city including destinations such as the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), both universities, and more are available from just down the road of the flat. The train station (and central bus station) is just a short 10-13 minute walk away too. Taxis too/from the airport are relatively cheap and it's a quick 15-20 minute drive, depending on traffic.

There's a public car park that's relatively cheap and a minute walk away. Parking is also available on the surrounding streets and is free overnight (usually 6/8/10pm - 8am depending on the street).

The flat is inside an old high-rise building, and although not pretty from the outside, it's kept very well. All my neighbours are extremely nice people; some are elderly and some are younger professionals like myself. The high-rise building is kept well, with cleaners coming in every other day. There is a communal launderette that can be used. A wash costs just £1. Wireless internet is free to use.

We are non-smokers and would appreciate if you do not smoke in the flat. There's a balcony that's spacious enough to hang about and have a smoke.

My girlfriend and myself will be living in the other bedrooms during your visit, so please be aware of this! We are both welcoming individuals who enjoy travelling ourselves, and look forward to hosting :)

  • I had a great stay in Kyle and Shereen's apartment! Very centrally located, slept well, and you have everything you need there for a short stay. Enjoyed speaking with my friendly hosts during the evenings, we had many similar interests! Always fun meeting new people, and I can really recommend a stay here if you come to Aberdeen!

  • Really enjoyed my stay with Kyle, very friendly people and great hosts, they made it seem like home. Very conveniently placed room too, right near the city centre.

    October 2013
  • My stay with Kyle and Shereen started with very quick responses from them to my query of availability. I was very impressed by the details of information left for their guests in their profile (i.e. location and how to get there). The room is exactly to what they have described and it had a beautiful view! Both Kyle and Shereen were very helpful is giving information about places to go and trains. They are both very kind, respectful and clean. I definitely recommend their place if you are looking to stay in Aberdeen!

IT Systems Engineer
University of Aberdeen alumnus and currently working as an IT professional. I enjoy travelling, meeting new people, and learning about cultures. I am a technology enthusiast, enjoy good music and fresh food. Whilst I'm out of the office, you'll usually find me pondering about in coffee shops, watching the world go by whilst reading a magazine, my Kindle or just playing about on my MacBook. I really want to go rock climbing, and I should get back into snowboarding (a past time I really miss!). As a guest, I fully understand that I am entering into someone's private home and fully respect it as that. I am a honest and caring individual, and will respect your home. As a traveler, I'm looking for places to stay with people who are interested in meeting new people, someone who is cultured about the city in which they live in, and perhaps even interested in having good conversation. As hosts, my girlfriend and I aim for high standards. We are welcoming, kind individuals who keep their home tidy and cosy. Hopefully we can even share some local gems to make your stay feel more homely! Some of the places I want to travel to: ☑ Amsterdam, Netherlands ☐ Paris, France ☐ Sydney, Australia ☐ New Zealand ☐ Norway ☑ Beijing, China ☑ New York, U.S.A. ☑ Munich, Germany
