If not for the schoolhouse across the road we would watch the ferry come and go beyond the park less than 100m away (60yds). A peaceful and safe environment 50m (30yds) from the shopping village famous for boutiques, cafes and restaurants and with a 7/11 supermarket.
Considered one of Sydney's most prestige suburbs it is a perfect location to base your visit, for work or pleasure. Its close proximity to the city, while sheltered from the hustle & bustle, offers welcome homely relief after a busy day.
Sydney downtown is less than 4km (2.5miles). From there it's 1 minute walk to Opera House, The Rocks 'Old Town', Botanical Gardens, Central Business District and main transport terminal. The fastest way is ferry in 10 minutes, train (Edgecliff) in 15 minutes or bus in 25 minutes.
If here to work, commuting by ferry offers a spectacular way to start the day, arriving at Circular Quay between Opera House and bridge. Many guests flag this as the highlight of their stay.
If you catch the ferry in the opposite direction, you'll soon be in beautiful Watson's Bay - with clifftop nature reserve, beaches, more restaurants and cafes, and from 'The Gap' a breathtaking 360 vista of ocean and harbour, including spectacular views of the city in the distance.

My stay with Stefan was my first experience with airbnb so I was a little nervous but I didn't need to be, Stefan is an exceptional host made me feel very welcomed and at ease. His place was lovely and I had a fantastic sleep the bed was very comfortable. He pays great attention to what a traveller may need providing spaces in kitchen and bathroom. He has a lovely easy going nature and easy to talk to. I really enjoyed my stay with Stefan and would highly recommend it.
I have stayed with Stefan on a number of occasions now, which in itself is a recommendation. Stefan always makes sure I am comfortable and have everything I need. The house is clean and a relaxing place to stay. The location is wonderful, only mins away the Double Bay shopping centre with plenty of cafes, supermarket, banks and other interesting shops. Public transport options are all within easy walking distance, ferry, bus and train so getting to the centre of Sydney city is very easy. A great place to stay.
We stayed 2 nights at Stefan's delightful house which was just as advertised on air bnb. The house is spotlessly clean. Stefan is very professional and the perfect host where nothing is too much trouble. We were provided with maps and opal cards for transport on ferry, bus and train.
The house was tastefully furnished and bed was very comfortable.
We sat out in Stefan's lovely garden setting which makes you feel as if you are a million miles away, not just a few minutes from the CBD of Sydney. It is in a very quiet area of Double Bay which is beautiful. Woke up to hear birds singing in the garden.
Would thoroughly reccommend this accommodation and will be back to stay at Stefan's again.
Thank you Stefan.
We spent 5 nights at Stefan's house. It was a very positive Airbnb experience. Double Bay as a district is very pretty, quiet, mature and sophisticated. Great to ferry your way into town in 15 min. Stefan is a gentleman, runs his Airbnb with great care and attention to his guests. He is neat but not fussy. He respects privacy and is very enjoyable to have a conversation with. He has been very accomodating and pleasant to deal with at all time. A perfect balance for us. Would highly recommend this place should you want a quiet and mature Airbnb experience in an established neighbourhood of Sydney.
Stefan's home was just as described on his profile! The room was clean, airy and spacious with a lovely comfy bed!
Stefan himself is friendly and very welcoming with loads of local and historical knowledge that's great to hear when visiting Sydney.
Double bay itself far exceeded our expectations with plenty of places to eat throughout the day and loads of cafes. The ferry into the city and surrounding areas is literally a 5 minute stroll and is a fantastic way to be welcomed into the city with amazing views of the harbour and opera house!
If we were to visit Sydney again we would not hesitate to stay with Stefan and his beautiful double bay home! Thanks again Stefan for a wonderful first air bnb experience!
Nuestra estadia en casa de Stefan fue muy buena. Excelente localization. Las fotos corresponden a la realidad, Limpio, excelente habitacion y muy atento al aconsejar como disfrutar mejor de su ciudad. Agradecido por su hospitalidad.
We had a wonderful stay with Stefan in Double Bay. The house is lovely, and the room was exactly as advertised. We actually got more than advertised, as Stefan opened up his entire home to us, allowing us the use of laundry services and providing us our own fridge. He is very knowledgeable about the local area with many good recommendations, and went so far as to let us borrow opal cards for public transit. Stefan is a delightful person and he made our Sydney visit most enjoyable.
Hi Andrea & Carl, thanks for the great review. You may have written this before my reminder email (only just found it). In which case sorry for the hassling. Pleased to hear all went well in Australia. Hard to beat Sydney for beauty, right? Look me up next time. Good luck!
