Beautiful Spanish House in the hills of Silverlake,, less than a half mile away from the stores and shops. (Gelson's, Trader Joes, Say Cheese, etc) and conveniently located by 2 & 5 Freeway, near Glendale, Burbank, Downtown, Los Feliz, Hollywood and Atwater. See all that Hollywood has to offer while staying in a beautiful house in the hills. Or take a 20 minute drive to Manhattan, Venice, Santa Monica or Redondo Beaches. Our house has everything you are looking for to have a home away from home during your visit to SoCal. Enjoy a glass of wine on the patio when you arrive.
You are walking distance (a 2 minute walk, not a 15 minute run) away from the Silverlake Reservoir, the park and recreation center with structures for the kids, and a beautiful new meadow that you can lay out on the grass on and have a picnic with your family/friends.
This is our home. We have DirecTV, OnDemand, 700 Channels and NFL Sunday Ticket and and HDTV (you'll get directions on how to use what) and plenty of toys if you have young kids (we have 2 girls). We have a 50/5Mpbs Cable connection and WiFi.
Downstairs, there's a new eastern King 14" foam mattress with organic sheets and pillow cases that we replace regularly. It's protected by a zippered encompassing mattress protector that is laundered between guests so you can feel confident that you'll sleep comfortably in a clean, allergen free space.
The other downstairs bedroom has bunk beds (great for kids) that can be disassembled into two separate beds for a fee of $40, with 1 week prior notice. Both are full sized twins and have accommodated two adults in the past.
Our special features:
We have kids so we have adults and kids bikes, scooters, toys, dolls, arts and crafts projects for kids, etc. Come to our house with your kids and you won't have to haul stuff for them to play with across the globe. :) We usually have skis, snowboards, boots, etc. and there's some great skiing about an hour or so from our house, but only during the November-June season.
Upstairs, there is a 120'' theater screen and 3D projector (Epson 3020 for the tecno-geeks) that you can use, NetFlix, AppleTV, Hulu, OnDemand, etc. A large leather couch can easily accommodate 8 adults, so this is an awesome place to have a TV viewing party or sports event.
We live in a pretty quiet area--other than the occasional helicopter that ruins the silence anywhere in Los Angeles--and we'd like to share that with someone who is respectful and kind to our home.
We've got a table tennis table set and a trampoline with anchors and a secure 6 foot net to make it safe for kids and adults of all sizes. Our house is really ideal if you want a mellow place to relax after a day of hauling yourself through LA traffic. Or better yet, just spend the day at home!
We really enjoy the social aspect of AirBNB and love having friends come stay with us.
Exclusive access to the main house and upper patio. Shared access to the backyard, lower patio, garden and trampoline IF one of us or a guest is in the guest studio.
See the pictures of the backyard if you're not comfortable with stairs. There are 14 connecting the floors, and then another 16 connecting the 2nd floor patio to the lower patio, and the rest of the levels are connected by 3-6 stairs.
Interaction with Guests
Generally pretty little as we are usually traveling or away for the summer when hosting, but occasionally there may be a few overlap days where we might get to meet guests.
The convenience of being centrally located in the city of Los Angeles, whilst feeling like you aren't in a city. Tucked up in the hills overlooking the reservoir, with views of Griffith Park and the Observatory, you feel like you're somewhere else. This is the charm of Silver Lake.
We're a half mile from the Sunset Junction which is THE major mass transit corddiro with light rail and bus routes nearby to all corners of Los Angeles.
Mi casa es su casa, please treat it that way. I'm pricing it aggressively--it's got a huge deck, beautiful views, tons of valuable equipment and all our memories. I'm hoping it saves someone some money on hotels while we're out of town, but I don't want it trashed when i come back. Pre-book viewings are not offered. Special exceptions can be made for a fee, but we aren't really interested in having a bunch of people coming over to our house each time we have an inquiry, although we will allow a potential guest to pay one of our agents to be available to show the house if necessary.
No smoking. No loud music after 10:30 pm Sun - Fri, 12 midnight Frid - Sat.
No lit candles left unattended.
Children are accepted and welcomed, but any damage they cause will incur a fee.
Any damage to furniture, carpets, walls, equipment etc - incur a repair/replacement fee, or dry cleaning expense, at our discretion.
No Parties. Watching a football game and entertaining is totally fine, but keep the total number of people under 10 (including children) unless prior consent is given.
No smoking or lighting candles of any type while in the house--this is for your safety and the safety of the house.
No filming or entertainment staging /productions of any kind.
The garage, lower patio and backyard common area are shared with the guest house. Please be respectful of our neighbors and help us maintain the quiet serenity of the area. From October-May, we'll be available as we'll either be in this house (if you're renting the downstairs unit) or the downstairs unit if you're renting upstairs. We have two young girls, and hopefully they'll get to make some friends with your family.
When you leave, the following must be complete in order to receive your security deposit back:
1. Any items damaged during the stay must be disclosed. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the security deposit. We're very fair about replacement costs, so if you break a plate or a lamp or a chair, please let us know. The basic concept is that if you break something and conceal it, we have to pay our cleaning service to go through the house with a fine-tooth comb, which costs money and doesn't foster trust.
2. All dishes/utensils/pots/pans should be left clean or in the dishwasher with the unit running when you leave.
3. All trash should be removed from the bathroom and kitchen trash cans and placed outside before you leave. The outdoor trash cans must be placed on the street on Wednesday evening for pickup on Thursday morning.
4. All perishable food purchased by the guest must be removed from the refrigerator before checkout.
5. All doors and windows must be locked and the key returned to the lockbox within 30 minutes of the agreed upon checkout time. The security deposit may be forfeited if doors/windows are left unlocked, the key is lost and not replaced in the lockbox, or the unit is not vacated within 30 minutes of the agreed upon checkout time. Again, the idea here is to incentivize avoiding a situation where the unit is burglarized because of carelessness, or the cleaning service and/or the subsequent guests cannot check-in (because we are out of town and the key is not returned to the lockbox), check-in late to an unclean space, or have to be accommodated or relocated, at great expense and effort.
All guests are technically paying for a 30 day stay regardless of the number of days initially used, with the unallocated days to be used at a future time, pending approval from the host. This meets the requirement to comply with the City of LA regarding rentals of less than 30 days.
Additional cleaning for guests staying 30 days or more are billed ~2 weeks, at a rate of $100/cleaning, and will be requested via the AirBNB system.
We had a really lovely stay at this home. The hosts left their home clean and very welcoming for us, even emptying cabinets and closets so we'd have room for our things and leaving breakfast items for us in the fridge. The appliances were all new. And our kids had an amazing time jumping on the trampoline, playing the electronic keyboard and relaxing in the massage chair. Any time we had a question, we just texted the owners and they got back to us almost immediately. The Silver Lake neighborhood is beautiful - convenient to lots of restaurants, and my husband found a gym you could pay a daily rate to use (Body Builders, I think). We stayed there because it was just a few blocks from my brother's house, and we'd definitely consider staying there again.

This is a wonderful location and a beautiful home. The view is spectacular,, and the house has everything you need. We loved being able to get to Silver Lake so easily to run each day, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We were here in a hot spell, and the hosts provided fans within 5 minutes of our requesting them. We would certainly return here.

The views were insane and I loved that you could see the view from most parts of the house.
There was a lot of light filtering through, which is really important for me and the bed was super comfortable.

We had a truly fantastic stay in Matts and Oni's house. The location is stunning and the view magnificent. If you stay here you will feel at home immediately. The family are great hosts nothing was ever a problem. I was on business and my husband and daughter on vacation and the place served us all perfectly.
The girls left all their toys for my daughter to play with - so sweet. And she had hours of fun in the garden on the trampoline.
Fresh linens and towels and a fully equipped kitchen. An amazing home entertainment system and a hi tech massage chair. You will not be disappointed if you book this place - a true home full of love x
A true gem and a rare find in Los Angeles! The pictures do not do justice as to how beautiful and quaint this house and the surrounding neighborhoods are. This was an amazing find!
The house is perched up on a hill right above a very vibrant and now extremely popular and hip neighborhood, Silverlake, which boasts wonderful restaurants and all of the conveniences that one would want (e.g. neighborhood Trader Joe's is just 3 minutes away). In fact, the location is perfect for anyone visiting LA-- it's very central and just a short drive to downtown LA as well as to many other popular LA neighborhoods.
What makes this otherwise gorgeous home extra special is its beautiful view. The house is situated on top of a hill overlooking other homes in the distance. It's a very picturesque view both during the day and at night.
As for the amenities of the house, everything was provided down to a little detail. And, of course, there is a ginormous (no other words to describe it!) home theater system, which really is like your own private movie theater.
If the house itself was not enough, there is also a huge tri-level backyard. This is a perfect refuge from a busy day in LA. You can sit down and stretch your legs in the privacy of the backyard patio or play a game of table tennis.
With regard to communication with the host, it was impeccable. Our messages were returned promptly, and the home was prepared for our visit on short notice.
To sum it up, whether you are are looking for a base for your LA vacation or simply need a place while on a busy business trip, Oni and Matt's very special home can't be beat.
