I'm very passionate about entertaining friends and family and hosting guests. My degree is in Architecture, however I don't get to use it in my professional life. Revisioning this bungalow was a dream come true. The remodel was to the highest possible standard, and completed with the thought, "where would I want to stay?" I sometimes call it 'the honeymoon suite' because I think it is intimate, private and fun. The perfect spot for a romantic get-away!

  • We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful bungalow. It was in the perfect location; a short stroll to the east side, Rainey Street and downtown. Plus Lyon was a wonderful host. And as if things couldn't get any better, there was a steam shower. After a long day of over indulgence, nothing brings you back to life like a soothing steam. We'll be back for sure!

  • Lyon was a tremendous host, and the bungalow was absolutely perfect. As a host, Lyon goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have a wonderful time in Austin. He not only knows all the best restaurants, bars, and ways to get around, but he also clearly cares about his neighborhood and properties. He's decorated and outfitted this little bungalow to feel like a private getaway, complete with snacks, coffee, and a completely outfitted kitchen (not to mention the steam sauna!).

  • Lyon was an excellent and knowledgeable host. He spent time with us discussing the local eateries, bars and transportation options over ACL weekend. The steam shower is awesome.

  • I stayed at Lyon's bungalow during SXSW 2013 and it was so lovely and comfortable I was tempted to blow off the festival and hang out at the house instead. Lyon and his partner were fun to chat with and very thoughtful. They made sure I had everything I needed, although the house was already well stocked with all the essentials (extra towels, shampoo, and coffee). Location-wise, the house is well situated. It was a quick walk to downtown but also close to many tasty east side eats (Ciscos, Tamale House East, Vintage Heart coffee). I highly recommend!

  • We were 5 colleagues from Norway staying at Lyon's place during SXSW in 2013, and we had an amazing time. The place is located in maybe the best location of them all for being near the conference and city centre, and still it's in a very quiet and cozy neighborhood. It's walking distance from the convetion center and tons of great restaurants / bars.

Lyon was so kind to give us a ride to pick up bikes we could hire, which really improved our stay; it's great getting around by bike in Austin.

The house was perfect. Lyon got an eye for details, with snacks, drinks, comfortable beds, excellent steam showers, and a very clean house waiting for us.

Stay here if you get the chance! It will make you're Austin-experience a great one.

  • Excellent experience! Lyon was friendly helpful and accommodating when my flights were delayed. Only a short walk to downtown and plenty of places for coffee and food in the local area.

  • The house was clean and very modern. The location was very quiet and felt like a suburban neighborhood. Plenty of on-street parking. Very close to downtown Austin and the airport. This was my first Airbnb house rental, but it won't be my last as this experience was so much better than I could have imagined. The refrigerator was full free drinks and my wife fully utilized the kitchenette. The kitchenette and full-size fridge were very useful for storing food and milk for the toddler.

  • If I were to post this review to (website hidden), it would be so simple to sum up our stay at Lyon Gegenheimer's Spa Bungalow in Austin: Lyon pays attention to detail!

My wife and I spent four days, three nights in Austin this past weekend and Lyon's bungalow was perfectly located and appointed for ensuring that our vacation would be a relaxing adventure. In all our conversations, Lyon proved to be responsive, informative and helpful, answering my questions quickly and thoroughly. In fact, when we first met Lyon at the bungalow, he put us at ease immediately - he took the time to talk with us about our stay, suggesting nearby locations for fun and food. As we talked, I mentioned that we were in Austin to attend the Texas Brew Craft Festival; he returned shortly after our tour of the bungalow with a bottle of a local trippel and offered it to us for our enjoyment. (Lyon - it was really tasty, thank you!)

The bungalow is clean and cozy, perfect for a couple like us who value quiet and privacy. Lyon had thoughtfully laid out snacks, coffee and tea on the kitchen counter, and the Jenn-Air fridge included several beverages - soda, beer, tonic water. The bungalow is furnished sparingly yet perfectly with a small table, a couch, a firm Tempurpedic bed, hi-def TV, free wi-fi and a compact sound system ready to be plugged into your favorite music device. The real star of the bungalow is the double shower / steam room. After walking around town all day, the steam room is fantastic for unwinding tired muscles.

Downtown Austin is barely a couple minutes away by car, and is well within biking distance if you choose. For those who will be traveling farther in the area, I35 is only blocks away. The flagship Whole Foods Market is less than ten minutes away by car, making it easy for us to pick up some fresh fruits, tasty cheeses and a nice wine to enjoy at the bungalow.

Lyon's Luxe Spa Bungalow is a clean and comfortable space for a couple looking for a quiet base from which to explore Austin. The attention to detail in the bungalow makes relaxation easy!

  • This was my first experience with airbnb and it couldn't have gone more smoothly! To start with, Lyon responded quickly to any questions I had and provided detailed information about the property, check in and the general area. The Bungalow looks brand new and was filled with nice design touches. I also appreciated the coffee and snacks provided for us. My husband and I had never been to Austin before and were both very happy with the location. It was easy to get around, either by walking, bus or a short drive.

I love entertaining friends and family and hosting guests. I have a degree in Architecture but do not get the opportunity in my professional life to use it. Through property investments and renovations I get to utilize my design skills and attention to detail. I love remodeling properties and seeing spaces change. When traveling I like to splurge on luxury or historically interesting spaces. My hotel or residence, while out of town, must be relaxing and pampering. Traveling for me is all about experiencing the local culture and flavor, especially regional cafes & bars. The design and decor of my guest house was implemented with the thought, "where would I want to stay?"
