About This Listing
The room in my home is in a quiet neighborhood. Walk to the Shops at the Old Mill, easy access to Mt Bachelor, walk to the Deschutes River trail and restaurants. View of the Cascades, easy parking, wi-fi, full kitchen access. Addt'l room available.
My home is clean and quiet. The bedroom has a queen bed. There is a second bedroom which can be reserved with the main bedroom for $25. 2nd bdrm has a trundle bed. It is NOT rented separately. The bathroom is in the hall just outside the bedroom door, and is for the exclusive use of the guest. I'm seldom home so you will have lots of privacy.
Guests have access to all portions of the home except the master bedroom. Since I live here, it is fully stocked with all spices, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and whatever else you could desire in a kitchen. There is a gas grill on the patio, lawn furniture to enjoy the sun in the summer, a water feature to soothe your soul, a fire pit, and a large grass area. I have 2 bikes, and a canoe.
Interaction with Guests
I am happy to socialize with guests but prefer to stay out of the guests way unless requested for information. I don't want to make the guests feel like I'm in their space however I'm always good for conversation and to give recommendations for activities in the area. I expect guests to use the home as they would a vacation rental and feel comfortable using the kitchen and all other areas at their leisure.
I live in a neighborhood that is close to a lot of what Bend has to offer. You can walk to the river, access to Mt. Bachelor is a minute away, the Shops at the Old Mill are within walking distance. I'm on a half acre, close to town, yet within 5 minutes of downtown. There are 3 public parks within a 2-5 minute walk from my home. The Deschutes River is less than 5 minutes away. You will hear music from Les Schwab Ampitheater when concerts are in town.
There is bus service 2 blocks from my home on Brookswood. This is about a 5 minute walk. Access to the parkway (Hwy 97) is a 2 minute drive. I have the convenience of easy access but without the noise and bustle of living on a busy street.
Other Things to Note
Although I live in the home I am gone so much of the day, whether it is a weekday or weekends, you would have the home pretty much to yourself. You can pretty much plan that I'm gone on the weekends during the summer months. Please ask about holidays because I am gone quite often so you would have the house to yourself. I do have a well behaved dog and a cat. My dog goes everywhere with me and is not a problem for guests. My cat won't be seen as she doesn't like people. I'm just mentioning both for anyone with allergies. I also sometimes ask guests to put out the cat food since I'm not home.
No smoking. Pets need to be pre-approved and must be friendly. You are welcome to use the kitchen. Parties with other people coming to the house would need to be discussed and pre-approved. No loud noise after midnight. I'm pretty flexible. Standard rules of respect would be expected.
Robin has a lovely house 10 min. to Old Mill.
Quiet neighborhood, enjoyed her friendly bear of a dog Tika. Very comfortable living
accommodations. Robin is a great host,
made fudge to welcome us and always had
a fire going in her wood stove during the rainy days we spent in Bend. Would go back if we are in the area again.
Robin's home was fantastic when we visited Bend for a weekend. Robin helped us feel right at home. Everything in the listing was accurate and the area was fantastic.
Robin is a great host. Her house is very nice and she goes out of her way to make sure you have more than you could possibly need despite her own busy life. We weren't at the house much but it sure felt like a home away from home. I would certainly stay again.
Robin is a great host. I've stayed at her place multiple times and plan to stay again in the future. She is warm and welcoming and wants you to feel comfortable. She offers tips and suggestions for the surrounding area. The bed is comfortable and although I think most of us go to Bend to play rather than stay at home, the house is comfortable with an incredible back yard if you want to relax at the house. It's very close to trails, restaurants and shops. I highly recommend it.
Robin was great: personable and helpful. The house was clean and neat. The neighborhood was quiet and close to the Old Mill
Our stay in Bend and at Robin's was fabulous. The home & room were very clean and comfortable. Robin is the best, very kind, welcoming, and helpful. Tika(dog) & Smeagle(cat) were an added bonus to our stay. The location is great. We highly recommend this space. Thanks Robin
The only disconcerting thing about staying here was knowing that Robin was not my real family, even though my experience here was as if we were.
Mahalo, Robin, for making your home ours. Kalalea and I enjoyed it immensely!
About the Host, Robin
I moved to Bend in 1999 after spending 27 years in Hawaii and growing up in Incline Village, North Lake Tahoe. I love the mountains, lakes and rivers and most anyplace in the great outdoors. I'm familiar with most any outdoor adventure that you'd like to try while in Bend and can recommend hiking trails, kayak lakes and rivers, mountain biking trails, brewpubs to quench your thirst, great restaurants, and most any other activity, whether it be backpacking, local theater or a quiet park to enjoy the sunshine. (I have a canoe and bikes for your use in the summer.)
I have a beautiful, well behaved German Shepherd. She has no territorial, possessive or protective aspects to her. She goes everywhere with me and greets everyone with respect. She comes with references if anyone is concerned.
I'm very easy going. I'm gone during the day when I'm not working, always on the go. I hike, backpack, ski, x-country ski, showshoe and most any other outdoor sport that brings people to this beautiful part of the Northwest.
My house is user friendly. I have a woodstove, which keeps it toasty warm in winter. It also has electric forced air heat and the bedroom has an additional space heater if like your area really warm.
I finally got A/C this summer as most people don't like to be told to go jump in the river if they're too hot. The bedroom and living room both have portable air conditioners to keep things cooled off.
I try to be honest with what I have to offer. I have a clean home in a very convenient area. My home is on a half acre right in town. You can look out the window and see what the weather is in the mountains, watch the mountains turn pink in the morning sunrise and watch the gorgeous sunsets. You can enjoy all that Bend has to offer from my doorstep. Come stay with me!
**Please take note that this is a mountain town, can get extreme snow and weather conditions and the county does not always clear the streets the way we would like in the winter. I keep my driveway clear in the winter but the road to the driveway, even though short, can be difficult with extreme snowfall. Check the weather report prior to travel.
