About this listing
You can easily reach everything you could possibly want to see in Santa Monica and Los Angeles from this lovely pied-a-terre. Whether it's a walk on the beach, the 3rd St. Promenade or a Hollywood tour, all of Los Angeles is accessible.
There is nothing commonplace about my space. The decor exudes my love of travel. It's comfortable, colorful, beautiful and airy. You'll be ready to explore the sights after a good night's sleep on the queen size bed. (Note: see photo of the queen size futon in the living room, available for only $50/night.) I love that the temperature is practically perfect year round in Santa Monica. This apartment has high ceilings and lots of windows to bless it with fresh ocean breezes.
I have a wide variety of teas to help you start your day. But one of the best parts of visiting Santa Monica is breakfast at Marmalade, just up Montana Avenue, which I like to call "Beverly Hills for locals." You can order whatever your heart desires, while chatting with locals at the community table. We can discuss expanding the kitchen situation if you plan to stay longer than a week.
Interaction with Guests
I'm a quiet and private person, and I respect my guests' privacy. But it is nice sometimes to share stories and raise the occasional glass of fine California cabernet... or perhaps a pinot. Je parle un petit peu Francais und ein bisschen Deutch and appreciate opportunities to practice.
What I love best about living in Los Angeles County is not the red carpet galas or sitting next to Mel Brooks or Robert Downey, Jr. at my neighborhood coffee shop (though that does happen fairly often). I love the easy access to amazing wilderness trails. I'm an enthusiastic hiker, and one of my favorite trails (including a 4 tiered waterfall) is just up the road in Malibu, and you can actually take a bus there from downtown Santa Monica! I adore sharing this precious natural gem with my guests. There are shops in the neighborhood where you can rent a bike by the day or week. There's nothing I love so much as taking my guests up to my favorite mountain trail.
One more thing, I just want you to know how delightful it's been for me, making space in my home for friends from all over the world.
Many hosts play a "loss leader" game with potential guests, listing someplace inexpensive, which is curiously never available. Rest assured, I play no such games. I have one place to offer, and the prices listed are reliable.
Now, back to how wonderful it is. I love that I can walk to everything! If you're heading to events at Santa Monica's 5 Star hotels or the Santa Monica Convention Center, they're all within strolling distance. There are both live theatres and movie houses close by, including my favorite, the Aero Theatre, where you can see both classic movies (with live appearances by the stars or filmmakers) and new indie films. My street is so sunny, and strolling Montana Ave. is always both calming and invigorating. Hmmm, I think it's time for a walk.
Schedule permitting, I'm happy to do a personalized airport run for you in my little roadster -- $25 each way. Top down, top up, your call.
4 blocks from the Santa Monica #3 bus, for easy access to and from LAX and UCLA.
To take the bus here from LAX ($1): when you exit baggage claim, ask an airport employee where to catch the "Lot C" shuttle. Then ask the shuttle driver to show you where to catch the #3 Santa Monica Big Blue Bus. (Exit shuttle outside the parking lot gate, then a short walk to the end of the block.)
My apt. is 3 blocks from the Santa Monica #9, if you want to venture up to Pacific Palisades.
3 blocks from Wilshire Blvd., where you can grab a bus to downtown LA, Beverly Hills or the LA County Museums. 2 blocks more to Santa Monica Blvd., for buses going to Hollywood or Malibu.
Taxis are also plentiful in downtown Santa Monica, and car rental agencies are also nearby.
Other Things to Note
Dear European Sisters:
So many of you have tried to bargain down the price. My rate is well below airbnb's suggested price. Ladies please, do yourselves a favor and be more considerate of your hosts.
The Golden Rule - do unto others' stuff (for example, mine) as you would have others do unto your stuff. Be clean and reasonably orderly, treat the apartment and my things with respect, and we'll get along great. Shoes come off at the door, please. Do not invite over strangers.
I enjoyed my 9 days stay at Ariannas place very Much. She is a very welcoming host, and we had some very interesting konversations.
Ariannas place is close to all the nice spots in Santa Monica, and public tranportation right out side the frontdoor. It is very easy, and cheap to get to, and from the AirPort,1$.
The room was komfortable, and I had everything I needed.
If you plan to stay in Santa Monica, I would recommend Ariannas place.
Just back from a lovely 3 days staying in LA at Arianna's place. Perfect location for the beach and Santa Monica and so great to be staying in a local neighbourhood with all Arianna's recommendations for places to go and eat. Arianna was a lovely host and made my stay in LA very special. If you are lucky enough to sample her chocolate cake, you will be in for a treat indeed! It was great to get back after a day of travelling round LA and get to know Arianna's a little bit, equally, you have space and can come and go as you need. Perfect and a special part of my USA adventure! Thanks for the stay Arianna, it was so lovely to meet you
PS bus to the airport is very easy indeed at just $1!!!
I stayed at Arianna's for a couple of days. The stay was great, the room is great and the bed was comfy.
Arianna was wonderful, helped with any question I had and was great to talk to.
Would definitely recommend
Arianna's room is very artistic and cleaning. It's in a decent neighborhood, everything is within walking distance. The bed is very comfortable. Recommend!
Arianna was very sweet! :) Great location, walking distance to 3rd street promenade and pier! Did not look like the pictures, though...
The room in Arianna's apartment is perfectly located close to the beach and Santa Monica downtown. Arianna hersrlf was super nice, making me feel like an invited guest in her room vs. just a random visitor.
Fantastic location close to the beach and surrounding restaurants/shops! The host was sweet, helpful, kind and a great conversationalist. I enjoyed the room (slept like a baby!), hot showers, fresh ocean breeze, and the little touches left by my pillow (hello chocolate ;)) This was my first Airbnb experience and I couldn't ask for a more enjoyable stay. Thank you! Will return again.
About the Host, Arianna
I am a passionate traveler! I love being a citizen of the world, and equally love welcoming the world into my home. I love reading great books and taking great hikes in the wild world of Los Angeles.
The world sees the Los Angeles of the movies, a town of glitterati. But what I love best about this place is the vast mountain range, and vast wilderness that winds its way through the heart of the city.
Taking hikes on some of our gorgeous trails is one of my favorite activities. LA and Santa Monica are filled with surprises. Imagine strolling down a secluded street (just a stone's throw from the 405 Freeway), and spying a hillside vineyard, looking for all the world like a Tuscan wonderland.
Longing to hang your toes from a long board? Direct those toes to one of our Santa Monica surf shops, sign up for lessons with one of their surf pros, and catch a wave!
There are waterfalls with Malibu ocean views.
We have our own mini-Disneyland, right on Santa Monica Pier!
Everything is here. I can't wait til you are, too!
Come see me soon.
