About This Listing
Peaceful cabin with wood fired sauna, beside a babbling creek with breathtaking mountain views on a buffalo ranch. This cabin is off the grid, candle light, outdoor and indoor kitchen, propane back up heat, romantic and cozy w/ 2 wood stoves.
When you stay on the ranch you are helping me save a breeding herd of buffalo. Presently I am in a legal battle for their lives against a force that wants them forced off the land for real estate development. They won't succeed! There are thousands of people from all over the world on our side and our educational buffalo tour is #1 of 64 'Things To Do' in Golden. I won't let anybody hurt the buffalo, and they cannot be moved under the codes of animal welfare, but at this time I can only honor those bookings I have already confirmed. Please help me save the buffalo and accept new bookings again soon. You can help by finding 'buffalo tours Golden BC Leo' and writing your message of support for our cause.

The setting and the buffalo and creek.... and the cabin itself is a beautiful space, simple but wonderful feeling. Loft with bed, candle light, wood fired sauna, no electricity, propane indoor and outdoor kitchen and back up heat, composting toilet. Newly added kitchen with old fashioned wood stove, breakfast nook and composting toilet.

1739 Oberg Johnson rd. Guests can make themselves at home, wandering ( dogsledding, walking, snowshoeing, skiing ) around the ranch, down to the river, where you can continue for 60 km up the river to the Mumry Glacier. We also offer private dogsled rides on and from the ranch daily where you can learn intimately what dog sledding is. There is wireless and power to charge things available on the deck at the ranch house 200 meters across the meadow from the cabin. Cabin guests are also welcome to use the shower and bathroom in the ranch house. If you find the main gate closed, please open it drive through and close it again behind you.
Interaction with Guests
I am very happy to share with guests about the buffalo and life here, as I can between other responsibilities. I want all my guests to feel at home on the ranch and have a wonderful time here. It is an amazing place. Winter can get cold here, on are occasion down to -40! the cabin is beautiful and cozy, but you have to be prepared to do some work bringing in the wood we supply free and stoking the fire and dealing with snow and stuff. It's real life out here and you have to like some adventure.
It's a rural Canadian Neighborhood of friendly country folks with more young families moving in. The roads are great from bike riding and exploring the whole Blaeberry Valley, it's like being in the park without the crowds.
There's a taxi service from Golden. I have arranged rides at a reasonable rate with friends sometimes for people that don't have a car.
Other Things to Note
We very strongly prefer a two night minimum stay, cabin accommodates two adults. Queen bed in loft.
Respectfully, considerately, safely and responsibly!!!
Candles provided for use only in enclosed holders only.
Please leave the cabin as clean as possible to how you found it. The security deposit is for damage or stains that require extra time and cleaning or cost money to fix. No shoes inside! We ask that guests respect the quiet and peace. We ask that you leave the cabin and cooking utensils clean.

This little cabin was exactly as listed. It's a beautiful, soulful, spiritual little place to visit. I loved having the opportunity to experience the solitude and quiet that comes along with it. Leo gave us our privacy while still taking the time to chat with us and ensure we were happy. The BBQ is awesome, we cooked all our meals on it. The loft bed was comfy and cozy and everything was clean and ready for us when we got there. We brought our kayaks and spent a day down on the Columbia River which is not too far a drive from here. Also explored some of the back roads around the property. Highly recommend!
My friend and I had the most relaxing time at Leo's cabin on the creek. The photographs do not do justice to the beauty of the mountains, buffalos, and the cabin. The cabin was clean, secluded, and peaceful. I didn't see Leo until the next day, but he was warm, welcoming, and more than willing to share his knowledge on buffalos, the wilderness, and anything else you could think of. He made sure my friend and I were comfortable during our stay and I was sad to leave after two short days. Leo never stops smiling and is a wonderful host. I would 100% recommend it to anyone. I truly hope to be able to visit again!
After a beautiful ride through the Rockies we arrived at the Buffalo Ranch. How gorgeous. We had the cabin at the creek which was like going back to basics in a luxurious style! We had both days dinner on the porch using the gas barbecue which was amazing looking out on the meadow and creek. We also got a complimentary tour from Leo including a lesson in fire making completing the whole outdoors experience. It obviously also includes washing in the creek (actually very refreshing and if you really want you can use the shower from the main house which we didn't) and mosquito's so come prepared for that. All in all an unique experience which one shouldn't miss!!
We really liked the stay at the cabin! Washing ourself in the creek worked out well and there's water and a compost toilet. The contact with Leo was good too. He's working all day (I guess :)) but very good to reach for questions during te stay. Thanks again, Leo. I recommend your cabin at the creek to every adventurious traveller !
