Description

By staying in the cabin you are helping me save a breeding a herd of buffalo. Thank you! The cabin is a beautiful space, simple but wonderful feeling with babbling creek and pools right in front and private porch and lawn. Loft with bed, candle light, wood fired sauna, no electricity, one solar bright light, propane bbq with extra burner, indoor and outdoor kitchen and back up propane heat, composting toilet. Newly added kitchen with old fashioned wood stove and breakfast nook.

note* please see house rules for liability waiver that applies to all guests

1739 Oberg Johnson rd. Guests can make themselves at home, wandering dogsledding, walking, snowshoeing, skiing around the ranch, down to the river, where you can continue for 60 km up the river to the Mummry Glacier. We also offer private dogsled rides and courses by arrangement on and from the ranch where you can learn intimately what dog sledding is. There is wireless and power to charge things available on the deck at the ranch house 200 meters across the meadow from the cabin. Cabin guests usually use the sauna to get clean in winter, but are also welcome to use the private shower and bathroom on the corner of the ranch house. If you find a rope across the driveway, please open it drive through and close it again behind you.

I am very happy to share with guests about the buffalo and life here, as I can between other responsibilities. I want all my guests to feel at home on the ranch and have a wonderful time here. It is an amazing place. Winter can get cold here, on are occasion down to -40! the cabin is beautiful and cozy, but you have to be prepared to do some work bringing in the wood we supply and stoking the fire and dealing with snow and stuff. It's real life out here and you have to like some adventure.

The cabin is totally private. The area is a rural Canadian Neighborhood of friendly country folks with more young families moving in. The roads are great for bike riding and exploring the whole Blaeberry Valley, it's like being in the park without the crowds.

There's a taxi service from Golden, but a car is pretty much required for the long distances in Canada. It's only 10 to 15 minutes to town though, and 25 to the ski hill.

We very strongly prefer a two night minimum stay, but sometimes make exceptions for example when there is one night open between bookings. The cabin accommodates two adults. Queen bed in loft.

What a gem of a place! I'm not entirely keen on writing a review as I want this place to be kept secret. What a beautiful space to unplug and reset. I will be back for as long and often as possible. Host Verana was perfect. Couldn't ask for any better! Thank you.

This is a beautiful space. It is an opportunity to hear the stream while you dream, it is an opportunity to look at the stars and watch the snow melt. The buffalo are inspiring creatures offering a powerful gaze and simplicity. I felt very peaceful here, cooking in the outdoor kitchen was fun and it the sauna was delicious. I will definitely return.
