  • My husband and I were so happy with our stay in Renton. The carriage house is just perfect - it's close to the Renton Transit Center, coffee shops, restaurants, and Safeway. Also, it's just a beautiful space to live in. I certainly felt like it was a home away from home. Lisa was incredibly accommodating, providing us with everything we needed at a moment's notice. We will certainly stay at the carriage house again when we're in the area.

  • Lisa and Rick's carriage house was quiet, cozy, and perfectly situated. We were only minutes away from downtown Seattle, yet far enough away to avoid the traffic.

Make sure you take a walk around the neighborhood and see the river and park close by. There are several yummy local restaurants and pubs close by (Irish and German)--within walking distance!!

Some fun stuff about the accomodations and your host: The shower has ENDLESS hot water (OMG!), and a cozy living room. We are late sleepers, and were never disturbed or woken early by the typical hotel noise of vacuuming, doors slamming, etc. The radiant heat flooring was so NICE. If you arrive after dark, twinkly lights line the driveway and help you to navigate the driveway back to the carriage house. There is ample equipment and refrigerator space to cook (if you choose not to partake in the local eateries). Lisa was so helpful--I felt like I could have asked her for just about anything and she would have complied (she even offered, unsolicited from us, to allow us use of the laundry facilities in her home--how thoughtful), but we never felt as if we were intruding or weird that our accomodations were behind someone's house!

A GPS is helpful if you are unfamiliar w/ the area as there are lots of one way streets--fine if you are walking but a little confusing if you are driving.

We would never even consider staying elsewhere when we travel to Seattle and will definitely be back!!

  • What can I say? If I could rate higher than five stars I would! This place is fantastic. I felt as if I had come home in the middle of my long trip. Lisa and Rick were great hosts, helping us get settled in and leaving us to have the space we needed to have a relaxing and enjoyable family vacation.

They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had all that we needed. The style of the apartment, which is a detached one bedroom in the back of their house is HGTV ready, green friendly and trendy. There is an comfortable living room area, a perfectly well equipped kitchen area, spa like bathroom and cozy bedroom. We loved that the house was eco-friendly and opened to their beautiful backyard.

It is worth the extra money to enjoy the hot tub and the steam shower. I highly recommend this place for a friend or family get away as much as a romantic weekend. Set in Renton, a quiet, but fun little town only 20 min. from downtown Seattle. We recommend visiting The Terrible Beauty Irish pub one block from the house. A bar with true Irish feel and beers, the banger burger was a mouth watering treat and the service was top notch!

Book it now - this place it a gem!

  • This was such an amazing place to stay! Lisa is so nice and was always able to accommodate us with whatever we asked. The flooring had radiant heating! The steam shower was to die for and the hot tub was just what we needed after working a 9 day trade show! I would recommend this place for anyone. I stayed here with my parents and used a blowup bed in the living room and after 10 plus days you would have thought that my back would be killing me but no it was not! Lisa provides a mattress pad that makes the air mattress seem like a regular mattress. It snowed while we stayed here and it was so beautiful to sit in the hot tub and watch the snow fall all around you! This was the first time I stayed with someone like this and truly I think I am now spoiled from this experience and will always only expect the best from my future airbnb travels. Thank you Lisa and Rick truly you were great hosts that give you space as a guest.

  • Perfect location for our week's stay due to a tranquil, clean, colorful and cozy carriage house with all amenities, wrapped in a quaint, plant-filled setting within the heart of Renton. A 5 min. walk to the transit center and a 20 min. ride to downtown Seattle were most convenient. Lisa was the most gracious host who provided fruit and fresh tomatoes from her beautiful garden-felt very welcome!!! This will certainly be our lodging of choice during our next visit. Thanks, Lisa and Rick, for great hospitality... Easter K

  • Lots of reviews have one word in common - perfect. And that's what it is. My wife said during our stay, she feels like we have moved here. I think that describes it best, you feel so comfortable and relaxed as if it were your home.
The place is so nice and clean. You have everything you need and it is neatly arranged. The outdoor deck is amazing. We used the BBQ three times in one week because it is so easy to use. I want one of those. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to use the hot tub more than twice. My wife wants one now ;)
Lisa and Rick were so nice. Helpful, friendly but you still have enough privacy.
The location is good, regarding what's around it. Downtown Renton can be reached on foot. The Cedar River and Lake Washington are around the corner. If you plan to visit Seattle, having a car is probably good. Seattle can be reached by car within 15 to 20 minutes. I don't know how fast it is by bus. The bus station is also within walking distance.
If we happen to come back to the area, we will stay here again :)

She was always prompt in her responses when going thru the reservation and payment process, she was very easy to work with and reliable. we would definately stay again, Thanks lisa!

  • The Carriage House:
What a cool place! Very neat design, had clean modern feel yet homey at the same time. Not only was the bed super comfortable, it doesn't transfer movements of one person over the whole bed - huge bonus!

Great to have the outdoor deck space for relaxing, playing games, or BBQing. Garden space and landscaping really made the spot behind the main house feel like an escape.

    The Host:
Lisa and Rick were just the right level of friendly: approachable and helpful but respectful of privacy at the same time. We visited during a heat wave and Lisa was very helpful as we all tried to beat the heat!

    The Location/ Town of Renton:
This spot is a little ways from Seattle proper but we were using it mostly as a home base to get caught up on some work and errands, and it served us quite well for that purpose.

There are a few restaurants, coffee shops -and if you time it right, a farmers market- nearby, but this is mostly a commuter town, not a destination unto itself. You'll want to drive or bus into town for your main source of entertainment.

We have lived in the Seattle area since 1988. A couple of the "early" California transplants. We love the Northwest and all that it has to offer. Our home in Downtown Renton is a grand old place. Built in 1902, remodeled in 1914! As we have continued the remodel, we've tried to stay within keeping of the original style. Two years ago we began a project building a Carriage House addition. We built it Green, it turned out wonderful. It's compact and efficient. Just great! Folks love staying in the Carriage House---We know you'll love it too.
