About This Listing
I live in great basement flat in the beautiful neighbourhood of Rathmines which was recently voted as one of the top 4 places to live in the whole of Ireland! It's cosy and comfortable and easily sleeps 2. The smart TV and rear patio are a big plus!
Other Things to Note
This is a 1 bedroom apartment but for extra guests, there are 2 comfortable fold out couches in the kitchen/sitting room area.
We had a very nice stay in Dublin at Cormac's basement apartment. The apartment is cozy and well suited for a good stay in Dublin. The city center is a short cab or bus ride along with several pubs and restaurants near by. If and when I return to Dublin, I would be very happy to stay at the apartment. Cormac's e-mails and correspondence were informative and timely.
Cormac's brother Eoin welcomed us on the day of our arrival. He was very friendly and gave us the grand tour along with some great advice on what to see in Dublin and what to avoid (tourist traps etc). The flat is very nice, and quite cool. On hot days (although rare), the basement flat is super cool and refreshing. On cold days, you can just turn on one of the many electric heaters throughout the flat and within minutes you'll be nice and cozy.
The fold out beds aren't so much fold out beds as they are fold-out mats. It's a bit more rough than a bed but comfortable enough to sleep on for a few nights. It's pretty much a mat on the floors. But the bed is big, very comfortable, and can fit two. We had 3 people in the flat and it was a bit cramped but fine for two days. Any more than 3 and I think it would've been too tight.
The location is quite good. It's in the Rathmines neighborhood or suburb of Dublin. The neighborhood is very peaceful and cute, and it's like a 10 minute bus ride right into downtown with about 4 or 5 buses to choose from. Bus fare is like 2.50 euro one way so not too bad, but be warned: it's not walking distance into downtown, you will want to get a bus or a taxi to get all the way down there.
So in the end it was a very nice flat, perfect for our group of 3. Small and cozy place, cute and quiet neighborhood, Eoin was very welcoming and helpful. All in all we were happy with the flat and thought it was good value. Would defos recommend.
Great apartment, ideal for what we were looking for- a base for a couple of days whilst in Dublin. Met by Cormacs brother who lives nearby, Eoin showed us around quickly and offered his help at any point during our stay if needed. Map provided to direct us into either nearby town or Dublin centre which is probably 5-10 mins on bus, but we chose to walk in which took about 45 mins.
Apartment was clean and secure and slept 3 people comfortable, 2 on pull down sofas.
Would recommend if you're looking for a basic, clean base for a couple nights in Dublin.
Our stay in the apartment was great. It is comfortable and well equipped. The location is very good, with several bus lines just few minutes from the apartment.
Although we didn't know Cormac personally, He was very nice with us. He sent his friend Magda to welcome us along with his brother because She is Brazilian origin and speak the same language . Thanks for everything.
We had a great stay!
The apartment was just as pictured (minus the guitar), and as other reviews have mentioned, if you are taller than 6 feet you will have to duck a bit, especially in the shower. That is the only downside to a wonderful and comfortable place, though. There are DVDs, books, a stereo, and local TV available for in-house entertainment.
The location is a 5 minute walk to restaurants, shops, and bars in Rathmines. We took taxis from the nearby Tesco each morning and it cost us less than 10 Euros to get into the city center. There are also bus stops nearby.
Cormac was always quick to respond to any questions I had and was very helpful with getting us to the apartment. He went out of his way to look up bus routes from Dublin Port and the city center. We had a late check-in, and Cormac was out of town, but we called him from our taxi and he gave the driver directions. Cormac's brother Eoin met us at the apartment. He gave us a quick and thorough tour, and was very friendly and welcoming. He assured us we could contact him anytime if we had any issues.
I would absolutely recommend this host and apartment! Thanks, Cormac and Eoin!
Cormac's apartment has all you need for a few days in Dublin. The apartment is in a good location around 3km from the city centre. There are a number of buses a few minutes away; a supermarket and numerous places to eat in the immediate area. The apartment itself is a basement flat and is perfect for 2 people. All communication was easy; no problems at all from booking to leaving. Overall we had a positive stay.
Got to meet Eoghan and his lovely family, Cormac's brother. Absolutely lovely and very pleasant to deal with. Apartment was lovely and very cosy. Close to the city center (20 min walk) which was ideal and shops are 5 min walk from the house. Would definitely recommend to stay here.
About the Host, Cormac
I'm a law graduate who has a passion for traveling the globe and meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. I like to travel somewhere new whenever I have spare time so my apartment is often available.
I am lucky to live in a cosy little apartment in Rathmines (the coolest neighbourhood in Dublin!) and I love being able to share my apartment with fellow travelers when I'm not in Dublin.
I only rent out my place when I'm not in Dublin so the entire apartment will be yours. Luckily my brother and his wife live next door so there will always be a friendly neighbour to help you out and give you any advice/assistance you may need.
I have been very lucky to meet some wonderfully kind and interesting people since I started hosting on Airbnb and I'm sure this will continue!
I look forward to meeting you! :)
