SINGLE CURTAIN ROOM IN BEAUTIFUL SAN BLAS HOUSE
It is important that you read ALL the information below.
This is a cozy private space for people on a budget who want to use the facilities of our beautiful house. We are located 5 minutes walk from the Plaza San Blas and have spectacular views over Cusco.
This small private sleeping space is ideal for a single person on a budget, looking for the convenience of a well equipped and friendly house. You will have your own private sleeping area for less than the price of a noisy shared dorm room in many Cusco hostels. The house is beautiful and the views of Cusco from the veranda are magnificent. There is a bed and minimal furnishings in your room. It is a room behind a curtain. It is not a physical room with a door. It is perfect for some people but not for others. Some people have lived in this room, the longest time was for 3 months and the person was very happy here.
Please look at the photos carefully so that you are sure that it is right for you.
Located in a quiet and safe residential area close to the city centre, and within walking distance of all Cusco´s major archaeological sites, Casa Mirador is the perfect place to stay.
This is a quiet but social house, with 7 rooms and a great mix of people from all over the world: Europe, America, Peru, Australia, Japan, etc... Some work here, some are just passing through. But together we keep the place nice for all of us and it´s a friendly place. If you are looking for a home for your stay in Cusco then this is the place for you.
WHAT YOU GET IN THE ROOM:
A small bed with sheets, blankets, pillow & a duvet.
A small set of draws, one with a lock for small valuables (if you have larger valuables that you would like us to look after, this would be possible)
2 hooks to hang coat/bag
Boxes under the bed to store some things
Space to move & put luggage
Excellent wifi (you have the best wifi in the house as you are near the router)
HOT showers in bathroom close to the room
Full use of the rest of the house, including:
well stocked kitchen including blender & new oven
very hot showers in all bathrooms (there are 3 you can use)
good quality wifi throughout the house
huge veranda with amazing views across Cuzco
cozy living room & dining area with desk
cheap laundry 30 seconds from house.
help with local information
... and of course the company of all the wonderful people who live here
It is worth noting that the living room is often quiet & empty and so would be ideal to work in if you need to
Q:How much privacy will I have in the curtain room?
A: The curtain is thick and sturdy and other people don't go in there. You will have as much privacy as you need.
Q: How much space is in the room?
A: Please refer to the photos. The area is not large, but there is enough room to manoeuvre and store your luggage.
Q: Will my belongings be safe in the curtain room?
A: The people living in the house are trustworthy. There is a draw with a lock and if you have anything that you need us to store for you then we can do this.
Q: Where is the curtain room located?
A: It is located above the staircase on the middle floor of the house. The kitchen is downstairs and there are bedrooms and a bathroom on this floor.
Q: How noisy is it?
A: The house is generally quiet. Obviously, in a shared house, we cannot guarantee that something won't disturb you, but mostly people pass by the room with respect for the fact that people are staying there and other people have been able to live for long periods quite happily in the space. If you ever find that you are being disturbed excessively, then we ask you to speak to us and we will try to resolve the issue. The noisiest times are usually when people are getting up and dinnertime.
Q: If I wanted to move into another room in the future, would that be possible?
A: Of course, if another room becomes available then you could choose to upgrade.
WHO IS THE CURTAIN ROOM SUITABLE FOR?
Primarily, people looking for the home comforts but who are on a budget.
The room is NOT suitable for:
More than 1 person
People who are looking for a dosshouse! We will expect you to respect the other people here as we ask them to respect you, and you will be expected to clean up after yourself as other people do as well.
Interaction with Guests
We can provide local information and help with your stay in the area. If you would like, we can sometimes show you some of the key areas in the town.
You can choose how much you want to socialise with the other people who live here. We sometimes go out together and there are 3 common areas, the living room, the veranda and the kitchen. We usually find that people who like socialising meet together, but if you prefer your stay to be a bit quieter, then you can retire to your room. The choice is yours.
The property is located in a quiet & safe residential area with small shops & huge Inka stone and garden where people sit and relax. There is private security patrolling the area at night and it is one of the better areas of the city. There is very little traffic here so there are no honking horns and the air is fresh. But you are close enough to walk to all the major places of the city.
San Blas market 3 mins walk.
San Blas square 5 mins walk.
Plaza de Armas 10 mins walk.
Sachsayhuman 20 mins walk.
Transport to Pisac & Sacred Valley 10 mins walk.
Bus to airport 5 mins walk.
Taxi from bus station or airport around 4-10 soles, depending on how good your haggling is!!
Cusco is built in a valley between 2 mountain ranges. Most residential areas are up from the centre, as this house is. We usually walk to & from the town, but when necessary, taxis can be hailed to bring you home. From the road there are some steps up to the door so if you have mobility questions, please ask.
Other Things to Note
Sorry for the strict cancellation policy. Because our rooms are often taken on a long term basis, cancellations hit us hard so we have to implement this.
Please remember that this is a home, not a hotel, even if you're only staying a few days. It's actually several homes all within the same building. Many people live here long-term and we all live our own lives. In order that the house runs nicely for all of us, we all clean up after ourselves...you too! We have a cleaner that comes in once a week, so there are no chores, just respect for all the guests and that we all want a nice place to stay. And it is. Almost everybody that has stayed here has respected this and we are so grateful to them.
That goes for noise too. Most of us socialise, but not all at the same time, so keep noise to a minimum if you come in late at night or leave early morning.
Please keep your room in decent order and respect the items provided. Damages must be paid for. You are renting the room as you would in a home, not a hostel, environment. Your room will be clean when you move in, and equipment is provided for you to maintain this. If you don't have time to clean your room then you can ask our cleaner and pay her independently.
Similarly with bedding, we provide this, and a towel if you need one, but we don't have enough for spares, so if you are staying long term, you can launder the sheets as needed.
No smoking in the house.
And, enjoy your time in Cusco!
Cool place, cool hosts. JJ and Cat were very friendly, JJ explained to me everything about the house and the neighbourhood. The curtain room is small, but quite comfortable, I had everything a single traveller can wish for - good wifi, comfortable bed, hot shower. The location is good also, a walk down to Plaza de Armas is quick and easy, a walk up is more strenuous, but not a big problem either.
I stayed with cat and jj for 2 weeks. Lovely couple! Super helpful with finding my way around town. Awesome location, best spot to be for Christmas, best view of all the fireworks! Thanks for everything
Cat maintained great communication and was happy to meet me at the door even though I arrived late the first night of my stay. She answered all my questions and made sure I had all I needed after a few days "off the grid" on the Inca Trail. The "curtain room" I stayed in certainly wasn't luxury- but that's not what I needed, nor expected. The house itself feels a bit more like a college dorm (with signs reminding you how to respect the space everywhere) than a house. But I can understand this as it seems there are always new people from all around the world renting space in the house. That being said, I still felt that I had my privacy and that my things were safe. The house is a quick walk (10-15 min) from the Plaza de Armas up what was once a royal Inca Path. Right down the hill from the house is an old Inca stone. If you're trying to stay in Cusco on a budget but would rather avoid the hostel scene, Cat's place might be a great alternative for you.
JJ and Cat were both great people. JJ was the only one there when I arrived and he spent time showing me places to go, eat, and introduced me to some great people throughout my stay. I was only going to stay a week but ended up staying for two! The space is clean and accommodating if you wanted to cook or anything. And there was HOT showers which I appreciated greatly. I don't want to leave, but I must. I definitely recommend this place, it's in a great location, only a quick 10 minute walk to everything you need/want. The hike up is a little tiring, but nothing too bad! And a great laundry service is right around the corner.
Her place is located near to san blas.
also just in front of her house. There is a mini market where I can get some food and drinks.
also 2minutes walk there is a cheap and kind laundry service.
I could use.
Also cat and JJ were so kind to me. and asked me to join party together. and bring me to market.
also for traveler she can speak english and spanish this is advantage.
to ask anything in english.
Great place with an amazing view of the city and a hospitable and cozy atmosphere!
I stayed in the curtain room and had an absolutely wonderful experience!! I am a single female traveler who was looking for a place where I could meet new people and also go off and do my own exploring and that is exactly what I got. Hot water, big kitchen and common areas to relax or chat with the roommates. Wonderful people from all over the world were staying here and the neighborhood is safe and guarded as well as a location you can't beat. I will be staying here most definitely when I return to cusco :)

Hi we are a friendly international house, with people from the UK, Norway, Luxembourg, USA, Japan, Puerto Rico, Australia, etc. My husband and I came from Britain and fell in love with Cusco. We wanted to rent a house and stay here, and when we saw this one we knew that it was the one for us. We spent 2 months bringing up to standard, eg by ripping out the old 'Cusco' electric showers, and fitting brand new and super-hot ones, decorating, and building a kitchen with modern amenities where people who love cooking feel happy. The result is something unique in Cusco, a house where people live because they want a real home, and where people take pride to keep it clean and tidy for us all to use.
We have a variety of interests, but one thing is constant: that we love travelling & meeting people. This is a relaxed & sociable house. You are welcome to join us.
