About this listing
Having been called "a tree house on the river" by many guests since there is a oneness with nature afforded by the design of our home. The ever changing view of the river is always enchanting as is the ebb & flow of the tide on the Choptank River
The apartment's private entrance faces the river and borders on a creek which is at the crest of a hill giving a panoramic view of the river from all the windows of which there are 17 with four picture windows. It was a pleasure to meet Peter and Helen. They were very friendly and accommodating during our stay. The apartment was clean and wonderfully well equipped, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. We especially took pleasure in our access to the Choptank river and getting the chance to explore it by kayak. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone eager to get away for a few days!
Helen and Peter have a lovely house steps from the water...equally great for kayaking or simply sitting out to watch the sun set. We enjoyed all the extra's we found in our fridge...and of course, the homemade chocolate chip cookies. We hope to be back!
Everything about our stay was wonderful. The house was clean and cozy. Helen and Peter were there to answer any of our questions and made us feel welcomed. We will definitely be back!
a great experience. a clean, well-appointed home. quiet, scenic surrounding, and good hosts. we appreciated the positive feel in the home and the attention to detail (for example, fresh ice, homemade cookies, fresh eggs, and extra toiletries). truly our only complaint is that we wanted to sleep in some, and we were awakened early from footsteps above. that wouldn't be an issue for people with younger children, a dog, or who don't have the same agenda of sleeping in. that aside, we had a wonderful time -- a lovely outing on helen and peter's kayaks and taking in the town of easton, as well. thanks for your hospitality!
Thanks for your great review and your appreciation of our home. We will be addressing the soundproofing soon as you note in your review and since the entire house has solid oak and pine floors the sound tends to travel a bit and we regret that our early morning work schedule affected your sleep schedule. We appreciate your staying at the River House and hope you and the children may return.
The River House is indeed AMAZING. Peter and Helen were both extremely warm and welcoming while giving us plenty of privacy. The space was clean, homey, well-stocked, and had ample space (we could have easily fit my brother with his wife and two small kids in the second room). The water and nature watching was the special sauce that made our stay just perfect!
Helen provided us with detailed directions and we found her place without difficulties. The apartments is just as described and the kitchen well stocked. Everything was clean and tastefully furnished. Helen was away for the weekend but called to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. We felt very welcomed and well taken care off. The river was so peaceful, we just loved sitting on the dock or taking a spin in the provided kayaks. Thank you!
We very much enjoyed having Henrika, Nat and family with their dog Sophie stay at the River House at Moot Point Farm. Though we were away at our son's graduation from university, it was so nice to have them stay and enjoy the weekend on the river. It is so much fun when guests enjoy our peaceful location, the dock and the wildlife that surrounds us. We look forward to their next visit and to meeting them.
We had a truly wonderful first air B&B experience at Helen and Peter's River House Apartment.
Helen and Peter were extremely thoughtful and considerate hosts - the apartment has everything you need for a short or longer stay, is very comfortable with high quality furnishings, lovely soft towels and many small touches that make a differences ( e.g. home made cookies, fresh muffins and basic essentials in the refrigerator for us and a nice selection of magazines). The river house is very peaceful and a great place for a quiet retreat - bird watching, canoeing on the river, swimming at high tide. Internet could be weak at times but worked well most of the time , which was fine .
We had booked for 2 nights but enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay.
Having Frans, his wife and son stay at the River House was very special and we enjoyed their stay. They appreciated river as much as we do and truly had an opportunity to relax after their long trip from France. We wish them well for the rest of their visit in the US and hope they may make it back.
About the Host, Helen
We created a wonderful apartment to share with travelers seeking a comfortable place to rest and have an adventure. Avid runner, cyclist, skier and yoga teacher who enjoys travel, meeting new people and experiencing new places. Especially like entertaining friends and family at our home and sharing camp fires and paddling on the Choptank River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. My husband and I have often traveled without knowing exactly where we would end up or stay for the night which has added to our experiences with our sons. Really like our home's rural setting but close to Annapolis, MD Washington D. C. and Baltimore MD and just 4 hours from my hometown of New York City.
