Having been called "a tree house on the river" by many guests since there is a oneness with nature which is afforded by the design of our home. The ever changing view of the river is always enchanting as is the ebb & flow of the tide on the Choptank
The apartment's private entrance faces the river and borders on a creek which is at the crest of a hill giving a panoramic view of the river from all the windows of which there are 17 with four picture windows. Our home is called a "tree house on the river" because of its closeness to the water and mature trees surrounding the house. The house is situated on an 18 acre mostly wooded property.

We had a wonderful time at the River House Apartment; it was the perfect quiet, relaxing, weekend escape. The apartment is exactly as portrayed in the pictures, and the homemade cookies were a special treat! You can see the river from the apartment, and we spent a lot of time sitting outside enjoying the serene view and watching the ducks. It was also nice to be able to find a pet-friendly place where we could take our four-legged friend with us (and they provided dog bowls!). Although we didn't get to meet Helen or Peter, Helen called us to make sure everything was ok and was always easy to reach. We will definitely be back!
Kendal, her husband and cocker spaniel were special guests at the River House at Moot Point Farm. They communicated extremely well and left the apartment spotless. It is always a treat when our guests enjoy our peaceful location and the soothing atmosphere of the Choptank River as much as we do. We look forward to meeting Kendal, et al on their return visit and grateful they were able to come this past weekend.
What an amazing get away Rob and I had at the River House. Helen and Peter are wonderful hosts and Sophie made a marvelous playmate for our Schnauzer. Nothing beats a fully stocked game cabinet and kitchen for a snowy winter retreat. Looking forward to another sensational trip there this summer with friends and kayaks to boot :) see you soon! ;)
Helen and Peter were wonderful hosts, welcoming me with delicious cookies and some excellent resources on the apartment and area. The apartment was in great condition and I would recommend it. Dog friendly!
Wonderful, relaxing stay with Helen and Peter (and Sophie). Very kind and helpful hosts at a gorgeous property. It was the best vacation our dog, Walter, has ever been on!
My fiancé and I went to Moot Point after a few busy months because we needed to get away and relax for a bit. Helen and Peter's oasis on the Choptank was the perfect spot. We were delighted when we arrived at the location- relatively easy to get to, while still quite remote. The property was beautifully kept and provided us the quiet we so badly needed. The views of the river were breathtaking, and we look forward to coming back when the weather is appropriate to do some kayaking and splashing around. This time of year, when the air was frigid, we were perfectly cozy in the apartment, and we were able to snuggle up in front of the chimnea on the porch after stargazing on the dock. There wasn't a single thing we were left wanting. The fridge was stocked with the necessities, and there were flowers and cookies welcoming us from the kitchen table. The furnishings are beyond hospitable, and the decor is endearing. We instantly felt at home. I would certainly recommend Moot Point for a romantic getaway for two, a fun weekend for a group, or any type of retreat that suits you. Beyond the accommodations, Helen and Peter were so kind and pleasant. It was such a joy to meet them, and I truly appreciate their gracious attitude- that they are so happy to share their corner of paradise with others. If you make it out to see them, please tell them Laura and Jon said "hello, hope to see you soon!"
I had a wonderful experience at the river house. It is quiet and peaceful, just what I was looking for. Helen and Peter were wonderful and had lovely flowers and cookies waiting for my arrival. I would definitely return.
Katie and Shady, her great dog, were wonderful guests at the River House Apartment at Moot Point Farm. Our dog Sophie enjoyed a playmate for a few days and Katie enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and especially the Chiminea on the patio. Peter, Sophie and I look forward to seeing them again.
The Amazing River House Apartment was everything we expected and more. We were late and Helen and Peter put us (okay me) at ease. Their directions were great and we had no problem finding the street in the dark. The big treat came in the morning when we looked out the window and saw the sun rising over the Choptank. We took easy trips to St. Michaels, Tighlman Island, and even took in some shopping at the outlet. My husband did fly fishing off the pier and caught about three fish, including a perch.
The apartment itself was very clean and well equipped with everything from toothpaste to eggs for breakfast. It was so much better than a bed and breakfast because it came with privacy and when we wanted company, Sophie the Labrodoodle, was kind enough to play fetch and then hang out on the pier watching the water.
We will definitely visit again!
It was great to have Miranda and Mark stay at the River House Apartment. Even though their plans changed a bit prior to arrival they were able to have a good time and enjoy what the Farm offers most - a laid back time. Thanks for letting us know about the K-cup maker since I will add some instructions concerning how to change the size of the coffee. The internet is a challenge for us as well but until we get service from a cable company we rely on wireless connections.
We created a wonderful apartment to share with travelers seeking a comfortable place to rest and have an adventure. Avid runner, cyclist, skier and yoga teacher who enjoys travel, meeting new people and experiencing new places. Especially like entertaining friends and family at our home and sharing camp fires and paddling on the Choptank River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. My husband and I have often traveled without knowing exactly where we would end up or stay for the night which has added to our experiences with our sons. Really like our home's rural setting but close to Annapolis, MD Washington D. C. and Baltimore MD and just 4 hours from my hometown of New York City.
