We had an enjoyable and comfortable stay at Greg's Charming Tree Top Abode. The photos and description of the apartment are accurate. Everything we would have needed was likewise provided for, including towels, toiletries and kitchen paraphernalia. The home is on the third floor so you would have climb three flights of stairs, which can be difficult if you have heavy bags or suitcases with you.
It's unfortunate that we weren't able to personally meet Greg but he was responsive through messages and calls, especially when we were having trouble with the lock of the back door entrance. Would definitely recommend this listing to family and friends.
This is the 2nd time that I stayed in the apartment in Cambridge. Greg was proactive in communicating with me, both for check in and check out.
The apartment is fairly close to Harvard Square, and the bus runs fairly regularly. It would have been about a 20 minute walk. The apartment is comfortable, quiet, and a great price. The bed is especially comfortable, which is something that I am not sure any other reviewers have commented on.
The middle room is where I spent most of my time, which has a Roku and basic TV.
The most important aspect for me is that there is a dedicated off-street parking spot in their driveway that is for the guests. Being recently relocated to Massachusetts, this was essential for my car. It's set back a little off the street, which is nice for security.
The apartment is on the 3rd floor, and does require climbing some old spiral steps. Keep that in mind if you have large luggage.
Overall, I truly enjoyed the place and would stay again. It was perfect for me and I really appreciated the hosts. Thank you.
I really enjoy staying at the "Tree Top Abode". The apartment consists of four rooms - kitchen, living room, and bedroom. The building is situated on a quiet, residential area of Cambridge, not far from Harvard Square. The most important aspect to me is that there is off-street parking in a driveway next to the property.
The apartment is quiet, clean, and very comfortable, within transit distance to the Red Line. Greg is very responsive, and very conscientious of the needs of a single traveler. I would highly recommend staying here, as it's very cozy. Plus, the bed is extremely comfortable (not a given at every place).
Thank you to Greg and his family for a pleasant stay.
There was a wonderful basket of fresh fruit waiting for me - and fresh flowers. Really nice.
Place is sweet. Bed was SUPER comfortable. Basic amenities, but clean and very pleasant.
I was there in November and although there are electric space heaters in every room, it was chilly. It's an old house. Bring a sweater and a pair of slippers.
Communication went smooth. Same for check-in, since Greg foresaw a key waiting for us. Check-out was even easier, Greg informed us that there was no hurry since nobody else was going to check in that day.
The place is large, quiet neighbourhood, easy to park.
Greg was a terrific host--attentive, friendly, unbelievably prompt (even helped us change light bulbs in the high ceilings, gave us our forwarded mail, carried big boxes for us up the long staircase, etc.) The abode itself was charming. The pictures on airbnb are accurate --i.e., sort of shabby-chic. The trees were indeed lovely, as was the light. Our only major issue (which was not in any way Greg’s fault) was that although the neighborhood is full of gardens, trees, and great houses--and the shopping is easy at Fresh Pond Market in nearby pretty and friendly Huron Village—a massive street construction project has been underway in this part of Cambridge for months. This is generating a lot of noise, dust, mud, and traffic congestion. As of late October, it seems to be moving away from Greg’s place. Another small thing to keep in mind is that it’s a 25-30 minute walk to either the Porter Square or the Harvard T-stop. Buses run reasonably often along Concord St. during the day, but at night you’re better off walking (or taking a cab).
The Charming Tree Top Abide was great for our month-long stay in Cambridge. A block away from the bus stop, it was a quick ride down to Harvard Square. We loved being in a neighbor and the apartment was very close to several grocery stores. Our toddler loved the multiple playgrounds within a short walking distance from the apartment.
Greg was very helpful in arranging our stay and left us fresh fruit and flowers when we arrived. He provided a portable crib and toys for our toddler, along with recommendations for fun activities with her.
The apartment was a perfect size for our stay and there were plenty of extra towels, sheets and blankets for our stay.
Our only concern during our stay was some severe trouble with the internet and wifi connection. The wifi went out most of the nights we were there. Greg was constantly working on the situation for us (it wasn't his fault the wifi was out), which we really appreciated but it did effect the work we were able to do there. When the wifi was working, we did enjoy getting to use the Roku box provided for us.
Overall, we greatly enjoyed our visit and would stay there again!

I spent most of my adult life traveling around the globe from my home base in Portland,Oregon... sometimes staying in people's house, sometimes just a hammock between two trees. I am currently indoctrinating my son to like these things so we can hit the road when he gets a wee bit older. My last trip was across India by bicycle. Good fun if you get the chance!
Since I've been in Cambridge, I've learned things that would be not possible while traveling, learning the guitar, making beer, perfecting my jerk chicken burritos...and I've grown to love this town...lively music scene, and the biking is getting better and better!
