The Space

Sunny front room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen make this place a cozy spot to cook, eat, read and hang out ... There's a stone patio in the back garden & a stretch of lawn and flowers out back... A washer & dryer in basement, if needed. We have wifi & movies w. DVD player.

Guest Access

There are two bikes and a big back yard and garden. A walk to a cool cafe by the zoo & Darwin Martin House.

Interaction with Guests

I can be available to offer tips about where to go in the neighborhood and the city ...

The Neighborhood

The street has lots of trees and is one of the nice Parkside example's of a century-old Buffalo neighborhood. I love the old houses and the people. Taking in a run at Delaware Park and saying hello to the neighbors out and about make this a welcoming city refuge.

Getting around

The Amherst subway station is a few blocks away. There are bus lines. The place is walking distance to Sweetness_7 cafe on Parkside and the zoo. Hertel Ave is the shopping district is 1.4 miles away. We have two bikes you can use, stored in the back room closet.

Other Things to Note

Nearby dining & night spots on Hertel include Mesque soccer bar, Crav restaurant, Empire Grill, Romeo & Juliet's Italian eatery & bakery & good Iraqi falafel wrap take out at Shiskabob Grill. Take in a movie at the newly restored & gorgeous 1920s-era North Park movie theater.

  • Its a beautiful victorian kind of house where we enjoyed quiet and peaceful time. We prepared some of our meals at home and found the kitchen quite equipped. Michelle is a wonderfully thoughtful and considerate host. Knowing our ethnic background she even left some ethnic goodies in the fridge that we enjoyed during our stay. There was enough linen and towels etc to make us feel comfortable. Neighbours are very helpful. One of them prompted us to change the location of our parking to comply with city rules to avoid a ticket. The location is great. Its almost the down town area; Niagara and Buffalo shoppings are within 20 min of drive and the falls within 30min. The house did not have AC but was very comfortable even without. Overall, it was fun to stay at Michell's. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet and peaceful time in a home away from home :) :)

  • Michelle has a beautiful and comfortable apartment in a wonderful Buffalo neighbourhood. An idea place to relax and take a break during a trip spent seeing the sights or catching up with friends on the Niagara Frontier. She is also friendly and accommodating. I'll stay there the next time that I am in Buffalo, if I can.

  • Michelle was a great host! Her house is very spacious, cozy and clean, with good access to the city center. Michelle was very helpful and flexible (even though we arrived later than expected), and very quick to respond to emails. We would definitely come back!

  • Michelle is a wonderful person! sweet and super helpful. Since it was our first time in Buffalo, she had a lot of suggestions and ideas on where we can go out for lunch/dinner, and other cool places to hang out. Her house is very warm and comfy, and close to the mall (which was a great advantage), we enjoyed our stay thoroughly!

I am journalist who grew up in Buffalo. The last decade of my career has been devoted to exploring and writing about the city, its suburbs and people. Buffalo is full of quirky & elegant charm. When I moved back here, this house was a cozy refuge for my friends and I. Dinner parties, morning jogs through the park, coffee ground from beans before brewing, NPR, a garden view & travel plans on the horizon are about six of a dozen things I'd rather not live without ...
