Amaryllis is the upper suite, accessed by an external stairway, in a renovated and remodeled Caribbean villa called Ylang Ylang after the fragrant trees in the garden.

The space
Amaryllis, the upper floor suite in Ylang Ylang villa accessed by an external stairway from the pool deck it is comprised of three ensuite bedrooms with an open plan kitchen and dining room and an adjacent lounge. It is surrounded by a covered gallery and shaded deck with eating and sitting areas and an open patio for sunbathing in privacy. The entire interior space is fully airconditioned and fitted with ceiling fans. The ambience is casual , comfortable Caribbean chic aided by part of our art collection. High speed secure broadband wi fi internet is available throughout the property and cable television together with an entertainment center are located in the lounge.
Spectacular daytime and sunset( green flash) views to the west, overlooking Admiralty bay are a feature of the property which is about 150 feet above sea level and within easy walking distance of the famous waterfront broadwalk taking you to the Harbour ferry dock in one direction and Princess Margaret beach in the other.
The pool and umbrella shaded poolside deck are shared with Jasmine, the lower suite which has exclusive access to the Pavillion, a covered outside kitchen and dining area at the side of the pool. When Jasmine is unoccupied guests in Amaryllis are welcome to use it.
The property is serviced five days a week by our non resident housekeeper the cost of which is included in the rental.

Guest access
Amaryllis is totally available to it's guests, access is by external stairway from the pool deck and patio area. And for this reason is unsuitable for severely mobility impaired guests. The open deck has a laundry with washer and dryer located in a screened cupboard off the open deck. The whole property is located off and above the Mount Pleasant road with vehicular access up a fairly steep driveway with pedestrian steps alongside.
The resident caretaker and his wife live in the caretakers cottage separately situated above and behind Amaryllis.

Other things to note
The garden has a number of fruit trees which guests are welcome to use when fruit is in season.
Amaryllis is not suitable for the severely physically handicapped because of the driveway and staircase and young children, whilst welcome, require supervision as the pool is not fenced off and there are a number of drops from the deck and patio.
Smoking is not allowed within the building itself and pets and animals are also not permitted.
Overnight guests are limited to the sleeping capacity of the suite but guests are welcome to entertain friends during the day.
Amaryllis, in conjunction with Jasmine has been used as a wedding venue and family reunion property with success.

Located within easy walking distance of the boardwalk , the center of Port Elisabeth and the beaches a Lower Mount Pleasant Road, known colloquially as Belmont Gap has low density villa housing on both sides, a number of open spaces and is perfectly placed for a Bequia vacation.

I am a retired british Chartered Accountant although I have lived in the west indies for nearly 50 years. My wife is a retired medical doctor, Trinidadian and British. We travel extensively and have homes in Bequia (ST. Vincent and the Grenadines, Intervale (New Hampshire, USA) and London, UK. which we also rent short term when we are not using them. Our primary retirement occupation is property management and we have a number of longer term leased residential properties- our guiding principle has always been that we will not own or rent anything in which we ourselves would not be happy to live in. Our main pass times, apart from travel, are boating-sail and power, deep sea fishing, skiing, classical music-particularly opera and good food and wine. We also spend time in Europe, usually Italy and the south of France. We have three children and five grandchildren who have become the focal point of our lives.

We live between Trinidad, the United States and Europe so regrettably do not often meet our guests in person. However we have a property manager in Port Elisabeth, the caretaker and his wife, who look after the property and garden are resident in the separate caretaker’s cottage and are always available.
