  • A very nice and cosy houseboat, perfect location ( within 20min walk from center, 3min walk from 297bus from and to the airport, close to bars, to the beautiful park and the museums)
Beside the location we enjoyed the comfort of the houseboat and the nice host.
We were a group of 6.
We hope to be back :)

  • Stayed at Mario's place in April 2014.
First time using airbnb but had no problems. Houseboat easy to find using Mario's directions from Central station. Met on arrival by Max who was welcoming and easy to contact if necessary.
Place was comfortable and clean, had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay in Amsterdam. Would have no problems staying again!

  • One week vacation on Mario's boat. Wanted to live a "different" experience. Maybe it was not for us. The boat is spacious and pictures do represent what you get. In our case (this is important and is only following our own experience there), we lived through painfully noisy nights (no sleep or very little). I guess the gooses or ducks in the canal were in full "spring" season and kept us awake. There was also a motor that look like it was under the bedroom oppposite to the kitchen and kept banging a whole night. As others have said, the shower is also a bit special.

Some things also need a bit more cleaning concentration, coffee pot, glass in the bathroom, etc.

All in all, not a bad experience at all. Max was very polite and helpfull. In the final analisys, my remark would be if you like the basic summer (water and sewer pump, etc) home type of thing, this might be for you.

  • The ultimate Amsterdam experience! I used Mario's boat as accommodation for two American clients -- they absolutely loved it. Very centrally located, everything is clean and looks as advertised. A very nice place to relax and enjoy!

  • Just back from a wonderful long weekend on Mario's boat.
A family of five and the boat was very spacious. 10 minutes walk from Prinsengracht. We were lucky with sunny weather but the boat felt very well insulated and nice temperature. Good hot shower. Nice beds. Very quiet. The wifi was a good surprise we didn't even expect. Had brought my own speakers to play music but not needed as there is a sound system you can plug your phone or ipod to. We met Mario's friend Max who was very helpful and assured us we could have contacted him day or night if there had been any issues: there were none.

In één woord: pico bello.

A lovely houseboat in a very quiet area. Cosy, bright and comfortable. Two nice bedrooms (where the only sound heard at night is a duck or a seagull), a good shower and a little kitchen.
Shops, museums, restaurants and bars, the famous Vondelpark and the even more famous Grachten (Canals) are all within a walking (or swimming :-) distance. A wide choice of tramway connections in the very neighbourhood.
Mario's housboat (where Max is your friendly host) is quite an experience. Highly recommended!

  • Mario and Max where great, really quick to respond to e-mails, flexible and friendly. the homemade guide to Amsterdam fun spots was a really nice touch and the house boat is lovely just like the pictures make it out to be.

  • The houseboat is very charming and comfortable. It is extremely restful to be on the water and it was a new experience. The location is convenient and close to shopping and the center of Amsterdam. I recommend Mario's place for anyone but particularly for those, like me, who are not able to get away in mid-Winter to the Maldives.

I work in the tourism sector since more than 10 years now, managing my own travel organization based in then Netherlands. For work I live between Amsterdam and Sicily, my birth place and main destination of the tailor made tours I organize for my guests. In Amsterdam I have my first listing of a cozy houseboat in one the central canals of the city; in Sicily I have my second listing of a Boat & Breakfat on a charming 35 ft sailboat, moored at the historical harbor of Palermo. Come and enjoy your time in Amsterdam in a very original and authentic way. The city needs no presentation for its beauty, but the vision from the water is fantastic and the atmosphere unique, any season of the year! We love to share it and we look forward to have you as guests! If you are heading more to the south and want to discover Palermo, one of the most popular mediterranean cities, consider this unique experience of spending a few days on a charming, romantic and cozy sailboat, moored just a few steps away from the main touristic, cultural and authentic spots the historical centre of Palermo has to offer. Either north or south I guarantee you a very warm welcome and support to discover the places where I live! Hope to meet you soon in person!
