Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Our place is a 1980's barn/woodshop that never housed animals that has been converted into a lovely three bedroom home.We are 20 minutes from Rikert 2019 hosts of the Bill Koch Festival and the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. The place is light and airy with southern and eastern sun.The main living room has 13 foot ceilings with lots of couches, arm chairs and places to hang out, read and or relax. We are in the heart of the Green Mountains with skiing and colleges, an easy drive from the house.

The space
The place is tastefully decorated with antiques and family pieces. Two of the bedrooms have king sized beds with the third room has a queen sized bed all of which are very comfortable. The entire house is covered with carpets except for the kitchen. Wall to wall carpeting intermixed with orientals rugs in different parts of the house. We expect people to respect the place and treat it as nicely as they would their own home.

Guest access
There is a full service kitchen that folks can use that is a part of the main living space, coffee makers, tea supplies and all the utensils and cookware to create and or serve any and all meals. Rochester has Mac's which is the local market/grocery downtown that comes with a full meat market, liquor store and a very nice selection of organic meats and produce. Rochester also has North Hollow Farm which raises grass fed beef, chicken and pork as well as fresh eggs. North Hollow has a farm store on Route 100 a quarter mile north of Quarry Hill Road and the USFS Service.

Other things to note
The house is covered with carpets and we would appreciate it if folks brought slippers and did not wear their street shoes in the house. There is a mudroom as you enter from the drive where folks can change their footwear. There is also a hanging rack on the back porch where folks can hang their skis if they are taking them off of our out of their cars at the end of the day.

Neighborhood highlights

The house is on the edge of a lovely meadow on a quiet street. There are only eight houses on the road and the road is over a mile in length. When it is warmer out back of the house and across the meadow is a lovely beaver pond. In summer there are cows that graze the field from time to time.

Speaks English
Lives in Rochester, Vermont
Middle aged father of three all of whom have been launched. Have had an interesting and very diverse career that has allowed me to travel and work within Europe and Asia as well as throughout the US. Interests from non traditional farming, optics, high speed manufacturing, all forms of energy, traditional as well as green, carpentry and design. Presently working as a consultant in the photonics business and restoring older Vermont homes. Love to travel and get to know different cultures and people. Prefer b&bs or renting apartments to staying in hotels. I enjoy traveling in Europe where English is not the first language. Figuring out how to get around and then taking in the local architecture which says so much about what is important for me. I love good conversation, good wine, a great cup of coffee, unusual cheeses and breads and i am always trying the local food where ever i travel. Dinner is about having a good conversation and discussing the things that are important in life. I also enjoy just sitting out on the porch watching the stars or the sun setting on the mountains listening to nature.
