Pleasant and helpful! Ask! :)
The neighbourhood is great, this is the best development of mainly villas or almost the only one in Cabarete. The Community is gated and security supervised 24 hours.
There is one of the best meat restaurants in Cabarete inside the development.
Lot of interesting people have chosen this place to live and you can meet great characters. It is pleasant to walk to the beach with lot of greenery around.
The villa is 5 minute walk from the beach , the supermarket, the bank and the restaurant and bar strip in the middle of Cabarete.
There are most of the times moto taxis around to take you anywhere in no time! :) great and convenient.
This is a special environment with friendly atmosphere. we can cook for you and teach you how to cook Dominican style.

Interaction with Guests
Respectful and helpful
ProCab is a best neighborhood in Cabarete for villas and houses. It is safe, enjoyable to walk, meet many local people and also interesting travellers. There is a great restaurant in the complex and more.
Motoconchos are the best! they take you for less than a dollar anywhere in Cabarete.
Other Things to Note
Ask for kite, dance lessons.
Ask for trips to special kite beaches and gear rental and more.
Respect for each other. This is our home and we love to share it with you and hope you treat it nice.
Thank you for not bringing extra people for the night or to the house without letting us know!
Riin is truly a fantastic host! I can't say that enough. And her home is beautiful. We loved the decor, the sitting room and the wonderful pool in the garden. We will come again!
The home is a little further from the beach than advertised and it takes about 15 min to walk there. If you are coming for kiteboarding its another 15 min to the launch area (1/2 hr total). Be sure to consider this as you need to haul all your gear back and forth! We rented a car so this was not an issue at all.
We were also confused about the "free kite lesson." What this is simply 1/2 hour with a trainer kite. We thought it was a kite surfing lesson and booked for that reason. Riin happily applied a 30min credit to a proper lesson.
We also had a hard time finding the place from the written instructions sent from AirBnB. The home is tucked away in a secure neighborhood which is hard to find at first. Be sure to map it before you go!! Or download the Here app.
Thank You for the good words.
I would suggest to communicate beforehand for any questions and directions and additional tips for surfing, kiting and more, this has always worked with all the people for one yea and a half as you are coming to a different culture and language situation which can be difficult and misleading. We have been able to avoid many problems for people not to overpay , not to spend too much time in transitions like you did from Santo Domingo that took the whole day and usually is only 3 or 3.5 hours for people to drive from Santo Domingo to Cabarete. For first time visitors driving in Dominican Republic long distances is really not worth the hassle as the public long distance buses are absolutely great with inside movies, WIFI, air-conditioning and they are faster and safer than people drive, the cost is from Santo Domingo to Cabarete around 8 USD!!. Inside Cabarete cars are not necessary in any direction as the parking is not good and moto-taxis cost less than 0.5 USD to anywhere inside Cabarete and this is the way most people live and move in Cabarete with or without kite gear. :) if you stay longer the best way to maneuvre between windsurf, kitesurf and wave surf beaches is to buy a moto which you can find for 200 USD and still stay in the nice house areas with big gardens and pool and later sell the bike for same value. For shorter stays to rent a moto also makes a lot of sense if you do not enjoy walks as the different beaches are spread out and best kite beaches (the beach in the centre is also good) depending on the season are away from the centre.
Just to ask these few things would make it much easier and less costly to discover a country and town that might be different from your own.
I wrote a bit more in hopes that people who read this, get some accurate valuable information from it.
Kite lesson value offered is around 35 USD , which is of a more value than many times the price paid for one night stay, i think it is a cool additional gift we offer to people staying with us.
As far as instructions, in the past more than a year and a half this was the first time anybody had problem finding the place. You guys, could not already find the way out of Santo Domingo and arrived instead of noon time at 11 at night being lost on the way much before arriving to Cabarete or our place... :).. So very possibly you might have a bit problems with directions, checking them before or you might have been overly tired by this time of the night to find the place as this has never been mentioned before :) And the directions here are accurate on the map. Also Villa Buen Hombre is in Google maps and easy to find.
i tried to contact you on several occasions like most people ask and discuss things before arriving so we can help out with best advice how to get to Cabarete and to the place and what we can offer and more, but unfortunately there were no answers from you the day before your arrival and the day of the arrival to even have an idea in the end if you were still coming or what time as you had not arrived by 11pm and i knew you were supposed to arrive in the morning to Santo Domingo.
Also people who might drive a lot, especially living in US , it could take you longer walking than other people? :) which your time estimation is a lot overestimated. For most people it is a short, less than 10 minutes walk only inside the complex as the beach is right across the road from the gate. The distance is 800 meters from the house to the beach exactly, now it depends on what is your walking speed? :)
As far as the kite launch locations there are several in Cabarete and in Cabarete the beach changes every half a year and so change also the best place to launch , which there is a kite school and wind surf school right in front of our development which you probably were not aware of and again it is only 800-900 meters from the house.
With best and see you soon in Cabarete!
My friends and I had a great time in Cabarete and Riin was a terrific host! We could not have asked for better.
Her home is beautiful, welcoming, and we felt very safe walking around the neighborhood and to the beach at night. Her pool is the perfect place to relax after a long day at the beach.
Thank you, Riin! Hope to see you in Buen Hombre soon!
What a wonderful experience! Riin knows the island well and is very helpful and accommodating to everyone. The kite surfing in Buen Hombre was fantastic and the lessons were helpful. The highlight of my trip was wakeboarding out to paradise island and snorkeling there, but there's so much to do in the Dominican Republic, and the people are so friendly that I wish I could have stayed another week.
Rin and Micky are VERY sympathetic. They are joyful, interesting and love sharing their life with others.
The first night, they invited us for dinner in a tiny local restaurant that we liked very much! By the way, we recommend the sangria!
We also had a fantastic lunch together as it was raining outside. We all prepared dishes from our countries.
They also propose kite trips in buen hombre. We couldn't go but we heard all the best about it!
The house is well described. Great neighborhood. The only thing is that the shower is not hot. But I guess it is a question of time as the hosts are still working on the finishing touches of the house.
Wonderful place to stay! Riin and Mickey made us feel at home. They have lots of great tips for exploring the area. There was an amazing Dominican welcome dinner our first night. The bed is perfect. The shower only has cold water at the moment, but that's not a problem in the warm weather. We had a great powerkite lesson. It was too rainy for a kitesurflesson. But next time we're there we'll definitely stay with Riin and Mickey again to get kitesurflessons! We recommend staying with Riin and Mickey.
My girlfriend and I went with Riin to Buen hombre to try kite surfing for a few days. Buen hombre is a gem if you like to travel in off-the-beaten-path places. I believe the five tourists that Riin was hosting at the time were the only five tourists in the entire village. It was truly special. The kite instructors were great (I got up on a board after 4or 5 hours of instruction), the locals were friendly, and the views were beautiful. The seafood was caught same day and the authentic cooking was amazing. Best fish I've ever had. The conch and octopus salads were also amazing. The hotel was simple so dont expect luxury. Note this review is solely for buen hombre. We didn't stay in cabarete due to lack of wind. Thanks riin! We hope to come back soon.
