The Space

This is a new sustainably built cabin in the middle of an organic coffee farm 25 minutes from San Ramon Costa Rica, about 1.5 Kilometers from the tiny town of Berlin. It is 600 square feet, fully furnished, with hot water shower and access to laundry facilities. Cell phone and Internet USB connection are available. The property is accessible during the dry season with standard 2WD, although to get down to the cabin itself, about 300 yds, requires 4WD. This location is a world away from the city, with easy direct access by 4WD to the coast, including the small beach village of Tivivas. Jaco is 1 hour 15 minutes away, Punta Arenas and the ferry to Nicoya less, depending on traffic. The bathroom has a composting toilet which uses sawdust instead of water. It works well.

Guest Access

Walking access to 15 acre farm. Washer dryer in garage area of main house.

Interaction with Guests

I am present on the property much of the time but not always during the dry season, January through June.

The Neighborhood

The property is surrounded by other coffee farms which grow conventional coffee. It is rural Costa Rica. No tourists or tourist facilities nearby and very little English spoken. The location is at 1200 meters, 3700 ft, so it's cool in the mornings and evenings and rarely gets into the 90's.

Getting Around

Berlin has bus service to San Ramon, but only 3 times a day.

Other Things to Note

There is a full time worker on the property whose house is near the front gate. He doesn't speak English and doesn't participate in rental-related activities.
