Description

The space

Private room in 4 bedroom 2 bath apartment. Secure, your room has a deadbolt lock. These apartments are used as dormitories for international students (adults) studying at local colleges and USC. It's like a hostel, but you have your own room.

It is a small room of about 150 square feet. There is one twin bed (with bedding provided), a desk, chair and lamp. There is a built-in closet. There is free wireless Internet, and it is fast and stable. We can provide an air-mattress if you have an extra person, though it will take up almost all the floor space; this room is best for 1 person.

Guest access

Fully furnished kitchen and two full bathrooms. On-site washer and dryer. Free on-site parking. Two high speed wireless networks.

Interaction with guests

Manager lives on the property. We will meet you on arrival and the manager is present during your stay.

The neighborhood

Cultural heritage infuses Mid-Wilshire's museums, music venues, and multitudinous communities. Often referred to as Midtown by LA locals, Mid-Wilshire comprises dozens of neighborhood enclaves, including Koreatown, Little Ethiopia, and contemporary American malls. Walk through first-class farmers' markets, contemplate art at the LACMA, and marvel at your central location between the Hollywood stars and Downtown's soaring skyscrapers. Mid-Wilshire's name says it all—it's mostly in the middle of everything.

The neighborhood boasts the highest concentration of nightclubs and 24-hour businesses in Southern California.

The famous Wiltern Theater is in walking distance. The Art Deco palace inherits its name from its intersection at (Wil)shire and Wes(tern) Avenue. Audiences have applauded musical acts at The Wiltern since 1931. http

Getting around

Between Hollywood and Downtown, 1 block walk to the Vermont/Wilshire subway station (Red and Purple Lines). Easy public transport. Express busses, local busses, the subway.... taxi from the place to LA Live is $7 - $8. Other places close by: Braille Institute of America, Downtown, The Grove, Hollywood, Los Angeles City College, Universal Studios, USC. Close hospitals: Children's, Hollywood Presbyterian, Kaiser, Good Samaritan, St. Vincent.

Other things to note

We maybe be able to accommodate your pet, it's case by case. Message me about him or her and we'll see what we can do.

Availability changes frequently, so if we are full for your selected dates check back weekly, space may open up. And of course check our other listings, this room may be booked but others available (Airbnb lists by room, not property).

House Rules
Not suitable for pets
May not be safe or suitable for children (0-12 years)
Check in is anytime after 3PM

If you have stayed in a hostel before, you probably already know what to expect. You have one of four rooms. We will provide you with clean bedding and toilet paper on the first day, but after that you do your own laundry (washer and dry on site). Your toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc...) are provided by you. Sure, if you need something or lost something, we will help you out, just ask. But in general you bring your own stuff. (There are a number of markets a short walk from the room.)

The common areas (kitchen and bathrooms) are cleaned weekly, but you are expected to clean up after yourself, and to do so immediately after using the area. If any common area is messy, contact me immediately and we will take care of it, no problem. (I live next door.) We do not always check the common areas everyday, so please, if something is not right, let me know. I want to know. I will take care of it :)

You have your own private room; however, the bathrooms and kitchen are shared. There are four private rooms per unit. Thus it is necessary to respect others wishes, which means:
1) No smoking inside. Please smoke outside. There is a back patio and a front porch.
2) No parties.
3) No loud music or such.
etc...
If you have a problem with someone leaving the common areas dirty, smoking, loud noise, etc.... let us know immediately, and we will take care of it right away.

We are happy to help and advise, but basically we will leave you alone unless you ask. It is a great room for the price, and you cannot do better for access to public transport.

It's the perfect room for a short LA trip !

Kelly's apartment was awful. The placed wreaked of marijuana, which came in through the window. There is no air condition, which only makes the pot smell worse when it's hot (and it was). The fan was covered in dust so I didn't turn it on. The apartment was filthy. Dirty, black walls. Greasy kitchen counter. Dust everywhere... Even a poop-stained toilet. To make matters worse, the nieghborhood was unsafe, and I was followed home one night. I do not recommend Kelly's apartment, at all.

Kelly is responsive and a good host - leaves you to your own devices. Friendly housemates and other guests. Bed, fan, wardrobe provided. Just be aware that the area and place in general isn't anything fancy and that is why it's affordable.

Kelly is kind and ready to help. Overall, I am satisfied with this living experience at her place. If the public area could be tidier, it will be better.
