The Space

Recent Improvements June 2014
All locks to bathroom and master bedroom have been modified. People in the master bedroom can now lock up their belongings and people from the Unattached room will no longer be accidentally locked out of the bathroom as there is a key hanging outside. There is also a new outdoor sink and mirror by the outdoor shower.

My home is open to fun loving people who have an awareness of their carbon footprint. I also rent a room in the back yard called Unattached Room in Peaceful Backyard. This is a one bathroom house so be aware that you will be sharing the bathroom. I use the outdoor facilities as I work from home and am able to shower during the day when it warms up.

Cute and charming all tile 1000 sq ft home with private back yard in Central Tucson. Within 3.5 miles of downtown, U of A, and the well known 4th Ave district full of quaint restaurants and unique shops.

I look for people who have a communal spirit yet like their privacy as well. Loving dogs is a must as I have a dog who loves people, even though she barks at you when you first come home. However, if you just say hello and give her a friendly touch, she will go get her toy and be happy to see you.

Large master bedroom fits a full size bed and a sleeper sofa couch which has 4 inch foam mattress that folds out onto the floor and is extremely comfortable so that 2 people who do not want to share the same bed can rent this room. There is a room divider that can be put up between the sleeper sofa and bed. There is comfortable chair in the room with a desk for computer work. There is a very large closest with 4 shelves on one side.

My home is Environmentally Friendly with gray water feeding trees and plants. There is an outdoor shower, bathtub, stove, table with 4 chairs, compost bucket toilet and washer. The outdoor facilities run on the same water system as the house receiving hot water just the same as the inside bathroom. Cisterns collect rainwater which is used to water the citrus trees and plants. The washer and bathtub water feed the orange tree and the shower feeds the grapefruit tree. Thus, special organic products are used for outdoor water and they are supplied. There is a solar hot water heater, a solar heating system, and an 'On Demand' hot water system which is used if solar hot water runs out. This ensures that everyone can take a hot shower as we never run out of hot water.

I have been renting rooms for 3 years and have seen everyone leave here more rested than when they came due to the calming energy in the home and yard. I believe it is indeed a special place.

During the winter months each room has it's own oil/electric heater. Usually these are not even needed during the day when it warms up.

During the summer the home is cooled by swamp cooler and the tile floors add to the efficiency of keeping the home a nice temperature.

Inside the home is one full bathroom that connects to the master bedroom with another nice big tub so that your mood for a long hot bath can always be satisfied.

I provide laundry and cleaning services daily. WiFi is included. Carport fits 2 vehicles and the driveway fits another vehicle.

Check in times are between 2pm and 7pm unless previously agreed upon times are arranged. However, 9pm is the latest arrival time.

During Gem Show Jan 30th- Feb18h the rent is $50 per night and the fee for an additional person is $10 per night.

Aiibnb Policy Bugs and Quirks

They block phone numbers and websites so don't bother to try sending them. This I understand because they are the middle man collecting the money. However, it is very hard to find their own phone number so you can call to get live help. I will spell it out for you here: (phone number hidden). Hope this helps. I do not require a photo to book with me but I know airbnb is pushing for this.
Good luck.

Also, the cancellation policy is strict but in reality I will refund any nights that I am able to book to someone else before your booked arrival date should you need to cancel.

  • We had a very excellent stay with host Marcy!

Loved the outdoor shower and the eco-friendly home.

Highly recommend this home for anyone staying in Tuscon or the surrounding area!

Thank you so much for such a warm and friendly home shared time.
    Sincerely,
    Keith

Southwestern wonderland...warm nights, outdoor showers that water a beautiful little orange tree. Hostess Marcy humbly opened her home to my partner, our dog & I.

  • We made the booking with Marcy because we highly value the eco aspects of her house. However, it was unfortunate the way it played out. We booked for 3 nights and ended up leaving after the very first night.

There were 3 issues that we were just not comfortable with:
    1. The bed felt like a futon bed than a real bed. I am a serious yogi and practice every day. The day after the our first night, I couldnt do a backward bend. My husband shared the same experience.
    2. We were aware that it is a shared bathroom, and the said bathroom is adjacent to the room. I guess we didnt really put the two facts together and truly understand what it means until we were there: the bathroom is right outside our bed. Other guests come in and out anytime, and you can hear and smell everything.
    3. There are 2 ways to enter into the room: through the shared bathroom or another door down the hallway. The door that separates the shared bathroom and the room locks on the bathroom side. And the other door has no lock. We usually are not too concerned with security with our Airbnb bookings when it only involves the host. However, in this case, additional guests can access our room, we were not comfortable to leave our valuables behind.

We are in the process of talking to Airbnb regarding our refund for leaving early. On a positive note, Marcy was a nice host. I left my shoes behind and Marcy coordinated with me for pickup.

Again we regret that our experience wasnt the greatest, as we were really looking forward to its eco facilities.

    Response from Marcy:

This is the first complain I have had on the bed. It is a futon mattress on top of a regular full size bed. Most people love it. The bed in the Unattached room is much firmer and I offered that room to Katie which has a lock but she declined. The listings on airbnb used to show that I have another room I rent but they changed their software and this fact is not as easily seen. When I discovered this I changed my listing to make it perfectly clear that you will be sharing a bathroom with the other guests. It is true that you cannot lock the master bedroom so if someone does not trust my choice of who I rent to (I do not accept everyone) and you feel threatened in any way then this room is not for you.

  • I had great time, Marcy's pad is the perfect home base for a stay in tucson. She provided great tips, cooked dinner, hung out on Late nights around the fire, beautiful stay. Showering outside was liberating. Peaceful stay, you'll wake up to birds chirping. Glad to have a new friend in Tucson!!

  • Marcy's accommodations were comfortable, inexpensive, and located in a relatively quiet neighborhood that was convenient to good restaurants and shopping. It was my first experience with airbnb and I am sure there will be more in the future.

  • Marcy's environmentally friendly home was most welcoming and I felt at home from the start. My favorite thing was the outdoor shower, which I didn't get to use enough ! I also appreciated the
quietude and easy living atmosphere. It was also an easy drive
to where I needed to be each day and I felt safe and sound ! Thanks Marcy !

  • This was a inexpensive place to stay while my friend and I went to all the gem shows in Tucson. (IF you are a jeweler, you would know.) Since we did not rent a car, we used the bus lines and Marcy's house was a short walk to the bus stops.
The bed is super comfortable and warm. The room is spacious as well. I just wished that the weather was warmer to use the outdoor shower! Also Marcy was nice to do a load of our laundry during the stay!

  • Marcy's house is very well located to get to the sites and peaceful and quiet at night. I felt safe and comfortable staying in the inside room. Very comfortable bed and Marcy keeps things clean. Juna is a sweet dog. Great deal.
