I stayed in the Shiva House @ OY for 5 nights with 5 girlfriends. It was a wonderful experience. We traveled with backpacks, using the public transportation system. We walked the road to the highway and used the collectivos several times daily to explore Akumal and Tulum. Leon was a welcoming host. He provided yummy local fruit each morning. He offered his advice on beaches and cenotes to explore and places to eat. We used the community kitchen a lot and just loaded up on the super produce and groceries at the market. We also attended two yoga practices with Leon which set the perfect tone of presence and gratitude for our time in Mexico together. We enjoyed many laughs among us and with Leon's company. Whomever left the review noting that OY was similar to the US Forest Service cabins was right on - with the bonus of a bathroom and running water! We also shared our space with some geckos and occasional arachnids (non- harmful) whom we started naming by the end of our stay. Thank you, Leon, for sharing your place with us. We loved it!
So when staying in the jungle I figured there would be bugs and I am no stranger to roughing it but I wasn’t expecting my room to be completely infested with spiders, ants, and spiky caterpillars. The geckos were cool but there was poop all over the place, including the bloodstained canopy over the bed. Sure, a few spots I can understand, I’m in the jungle, but this canopy had literally never been washed and was stained with poop and that is unacceptable to me when i’m paying for a room. The continental breakfast from the organic garden is a bushel of bananas from the supermarket. It is in the middle of nowhere... not near a beach, or a restaurant. To get there you go down three crazy dirt roads off 307. It is also a little over a half hour drive to Tulum and a good beach. I recommend staying in Tulum on the beach there are so many hotels for reasonable prices. We actually ended up leaving early and camping on the beach which was amazing. We lost money but camping on the beach without a bathroom, shower or any creature comforts for 160 pesos a night ($16USD)was unbelievably more comfortable and enjoyable then this place! Stay away stay away stay away!
well how can I trust really someones review if when you left instead of letting me know about the inconformity of your stay maybe it would be something to do about it I mean when you book trough Airbnb the money goes directly first to them and them after a few days I would get the money for your stay but if you tell me your dad had a terrible accident and that you have to fly back home rigthaway ...well then it iis your lack of communication that makes things happen this way ....but now thanks to you I wil ask Airbnb if in any of this cases ( that is the first time that happens anyway) what could be done.
For next time make sure you are HONEST about what your experience is being at the current time and not to wait 3-4 weeks after your experience in any place and then write a HONEST review.
You see reviews are very good for us hosts as they help us improve things as guests migth be uncomfortable with.
I wish you the best in life!!!!!!......Leon
Amazing place, amazing host. Waking up with bird songs, awakening by yoga from Leon, fresh fruits, good people, good energy, experience it!
Organic Yoga is absolutely wonderful. Leon and Eveline are both extraordinary people and hosts. I arrived on Christmas night, and I was welcomed to their family's Turkey dinner and festivities. They made me feel right at home. I stayed in the Shakti house, and I adored it. It is beautiful and romantic, even while organically rustic. I was happily amazed that there were far less bugs, spiders (especially) and snakes in the jungle. And if you enjoy yoga, you will find the Yoga Shalla on the property a dream come true. And Leon is a true yogi. He offers free yoga most mornings, for any level given who shows up, and it really couldn't have been more lovely. Thank you Leon and Eveline!!! I'll be back. :)
Leon is a wonderful and generous host and a talented and insightful yoga and meditation teacher. The space is lovely and magical and the dogs are sweet and fun. We enjoyed cooking meals in the shared kitchen and used the yoga/meditation space on a daily basis.
We are airbnb hosts in Colorado and wanted to experience something different, so booked with Leon for three days. He gave my husband, myself and our 5 year old Katie a private yoga lesson and we loved it. Unfortunately we were all battling terrible coughs that we brought with us so we only had the one session. The individual little home with it's own screened in porch was very peaceful. Thanks Leon and we hope to see your son in Colorado next year!
The reservation was canceled 114 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Leon was a friendly, welcoming and accomodating host. He also made great recommendations about sites to check out during our time around Akumal and Tulum. The rooms look exactly as they do in the pictures and overall, we had a lovely three night stay at Organic Yoga. Enjoy!
