About this listing
Our home is a private sanctuary tucked away in the greenery and lushness of the Echo Park, Elysian Heights hills.
With amazing views of Downtown LA you get to be close to everything, but feel like you're staying in the countryside.
This beautiful small house was built in 1950 on a hillside surrounded by greenery, overlooking the burgeoning downtown Los Angeles skyline. Today the view and the garden and yard are as lush as ever. Come reside amongst the Elm Trees, Bamboo, colorful Bougainvillea, and chorus of Southern California songbirds.
The 100sf. guest bedroom we're renting out has the best afternoon light with big windows looking out onto the front succulent garden.
The bedroom has a small closet and is furnished with a 60s wood desk, cushy art deco chair, lamps and a tall set of drawers.
There is a very comfortable queen size bed with soft new sheets, pillows and a Duvet & cover.
Note: We have one dog and one cat, both very friendly! But unfortunately we regret we can not host any other pets or animals at this time.
As our guest you'll have access to essentially the entire house and property - the renovated guest bedroom, the living room, the bathroom, the kitchen, and the whole front and back yard with the many places to lounge and relax. Plus the washer/dryer in the basement.
Meet the chickens, grab some fresh eggs, harvest some fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden and fire up the BBQ!
And if you need to print something we have a printer in our bedroom, which is right next to the guest bedroom.
Interaction with Guests
We both work freelance jobs, as a writer/director/musician and a chef/caterer, so we'll often work from home a lot and then might go to a job for part or all of the day.
We love to have friends over on the weekends for Backyard BBQ's and get togethers and always invite our guests to break bread with us when we do.
We go to sleep around 10/11pm on the weekdays... later on the weekends. Let us know what your routine is like, we're happy to accommodate you.
Some of our favorite local places are...
Fix Cafe - best lattes
Elysian Park - go hiking or have a picknick
Local - best local organic food for lunch
Angeles National Forest - 30-45 mins away
The Fretted Frog Guitar Store in Pasadena
The first American Apparel store is right down the street in Echo Park on Sunset.
The Echo - one of LA's best music venues (among the many other venues in the neighborhood like The Satellite, El Cid, and many more)
El Prado - great beer and wine bar that reminds me of NYC
Gingergrass - awesome Viet restaurant
+ tons more restaurants, bars, shops, sites and clubs in the Echo Park/Silverlake area. Let us know what you're into, we love to try to give our guests good recommendations for what to do and see in LA.
There is no public transportation up N. Alvarado ST. - this is the street to our house. You can take a taxi or get picked up by Uber very easily, but we always advise our guests to rent a car unless they are avid hikers or walkers.
Other Things to Note
As we said before, we have one dog and one cat, but regret we can not host any other pets.
We live on the side of a very steep hill. You have to walk down a long flight of stairs to get to the front door.
There is plenty of street parking with no restrictions at the top of the hill in front of the property.
We always like to make sure that our guests understand that you have to drive up and down a very steep hill to get to the property... and you have to walk down and up a long flight of stairs to get to and from the house.
This is not an ideal place for the handicap or anyone who has trouble walking.
This is a very small, old house. If something is not working (like the kitchen window usually) please be gentle with it and ask us for assistance. Don't try to fix it yourself. Thanks!
Your deposit will be refunded the day after you check out.
Smoking outside only please. 420 friendly.
No unplanned overnight visitors or guests (additional fees apply for additional guests).
Please respect our space and help us keep it nice and clean.
Please let us know in advance if you'd like to have a small gathering or dinner at our house, we're happy to try to accommodate you.
Make yourself at home and relax.
Anthony and Aimee were amazing hosts. They were incredibly welcoming and made me feel very comfortable in their home. The location was great and it was really easy to get everywhere I wanted to go. I loved their house - super comfortable room, adorable pets, and beautiful backyard. I really enjoyed meeting both of them and would recommend their AirBnb to solo travelers like myself. Thanks Anthony and Aimee!
Anthony was extremely welcoming, making me feel like his home was truly my home too. The place was very cute and clean, and the bed was really comfortable! Also, there's a wonderful outdoor area surrounding the house. I'd recommend this one to anyone staying in LA.
Wonderful airbnb stay! A&A were extremely welcoming and accommodating and even let me tag along to their day trip to malibou. The place is really well located and quaint (with a cool garden), and the room had all the comforts one could hope for. Highly recommended!
Anthony and Aimee were great! Very accommodating. I love the bohemian vibe of their place. The house was clean and comfortable nestled in the hills of Echo Park. Great views of downtown with a beautiful garden sanctuary in the back.
I would love to stay again! Highly recommended.
The perfect hosts!! Extremely friendly and accommodating. The house was very comfortable and inviting, somewhere you'll want to call home yourself. Would definitely recommend Anthony and Amiee's home to others, and would happily stay there again myself.
Staying for two days at Anthony`s house in Echo Park was the real thing. We felt like locals and very much enjoyed the experience. The bed was so cozy that we were able to sleep well even with jet lag, coming from Switzerland. And the view of the L.A. skyline from the garden is truly stunning indeed. Even though we met Anthony only briefly when we first checked in, he was extremely welcoming and friendly and very cool to talk to. Down the hill in Echo Park there are lots of great little restaurants and places to hang out. We even caught a short glimpse of cat Oliver in the garden!
The reservation was canceled 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
About the Host, Anthony
Myself and my girlfriend Aimee live together here with our dog Billy and cat Oliver. I'm a writer, film maker and musician. Aimee is a chef and caterer. I work from home a lot if I'm not on set, in the studio or on location. We're very easy going, open minded and like to keep our place nice and clean. We love our garden and being outside, we always do coffee or espresso and smoothies in the morning, hiking, cooking and hanging with friends and family on the weekends, often go to local venues to see shows at night, and love Los Angeles history.
