The Space

This beautiful small house was built in 1950 on a hillside surrounded by greenery, overlooking the burgeoning downtown Los Angeles skyline. Today the view and the garden and yard are as lush as ever. Come reside amongst the Elm Trees, Bamboo, colorful Bougainvillea, and chorus of Southern California songbirds.

The 100sf. guest bedroom we're renting out has the best afternoon light with big windows looking out onto the front succulent garden.

The bedroom has a small closet and is furnished with a 60s wood desk, cushy art deco chair, lamps and a tall set of drawers.

There is a very comfortable queen size bed with soft new sheets, pillows and a Duvet & cover.

Note: We have one dog and one cat, both very friendly! But unfortunately we regret we can not host any other pets or animals at this time.

Guest Access

As our guest you'll have access to essentially the entire house and property - the renovated guest bedroom, the living room, the bathroom, the kitchen, and the whole front and back yard with the many places to lounge and relax. Plus the washer/dryer in the basement.

Meet the chickens, grab some fresh eggs, harvest some fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden and fire up the BBQ!

And if you need to print something we have a printer in our bedroom, which is right next to the guest bedroom.

Interaction with Guests

We both work freelance jobs, as a writer/director/musician and a chef/caterer, so we'll often work from home a lot and then might go to a job for part or all of the day.

We love to have friends over on the weekends for Backyard BBQ's and get togethers and always invite our guests to break bread with us when we do.

We pride ourselves on making our guests feel welcome and at home, and love to help out where and when we can with suggestions and recommendations for what to do and how to get around.

We go to sleep around 10/11pm on the weekdays... later on the weekends. Let us know what your routine is like, we're happy to accommodate you.

The Neighborhood

Some of our favorite local places are...

Fix Cafe - best lattes
Elysian Park - go hiking or have a picknick
Local - best local organic food for lunch
Angeles National Forest - 30-45 mins away
The Fretted Frog Guitar Store in Pasadena
The first American Apparel store is right down the street in Echo Park on Sunset.
The Echo - one of LA's best music venues (among the many other venues in the neighborhood like The Satellite, El Cid, and many more)
El Prado - great beer and wine bar that reminds me of NYC
Gingergrass - awesome Viet restaurant

+ tons more restaurants, bars, shops, sites and clubs in the Echo Park/Silverlake area. Let us know what you're into, we love to try to give our guests good recommendations for what to do and see in LA.

Getting Around

There is no public transportation up N. Alvarado ST. - this is the street to our house. You can take a taxi or get picked up by Uber very easily, but we always advise our guests to rent a car unless they are avid hikers or walkers.

Other Things to Note

As we said before, we have one dog and one cat, but regret we can not host any other pets.

We live on the side of a very steep hill. You have to walk down a long flight of stairs to get to the front door.

There is plenty of street parking with no restrictions at the top of the hill in front of the property.

We always like to make sure that our guests understand that you have to drive up and down a very steep hill to get to the property... and you have to walk down and up a long flight of stairs to get to and from the house.

This is not an ideal place for the handicap or anyone who has trouble walking.

This is a very small, old house. If something is not working (like the kitchen window usually) please be gentle with it and ask us for assistance. Don't try to fix it yourself. Thanks!

Your deposit will be refunded the day after you check out.
