The space

The village is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, which you can explore on waymarked paths. Below the village are the dramatic gorges of Termes, where waterfalls tumble through fantastically sculpted stone into turquoise pools.

Guest access

The gite is ideal for two but can sleep three. The upper part includes a living room with a convertible sofa, television, and fully-equipped kitchen, which includes a dishwasher, oven, microwave, cafetière, kettle and fridge with a small freezer. The village’s own supply of delicious spring water is on tap.
The bedroom (with extra-long double bed) and bathroom are on the lower level, which is naturally cool in summer. The sofa can also be converted into a small double bed. All rooms have electric radiators, and a fan is provided in hot weather.
A table and chairs outside the front door are ready for breakfast on a sunny morning. And there is a garden on a terrace above the gite, where you can eat your lunch or just relax.

Interaction with guests

I enjoy welcoming guests, and will be happy to provide maps and any other information they may need about the area.

The neighborhood

Termes is centrally placed in the Corbières, and is an ideal base to explore this region.
Close by is the beautiful village of Lagrasse with its restaurants and medieval abbey. A little farther away, you can unwind in the warm healing waters of the pool at the spa town of Rennes-les-Bains, soak up the sun on Mediterranean beaches, scale the dizzying heights of the chateaux of Queribus and Peyrepertuse, or investigate the mysteries of Rennes-le-Chateau.

Getting around

Guests will need a car, motorbike or bicycle as public transport does not reach the village. You can park lower down in the village or in the visitors' carpark.

Other things to note

Termes is just over an hour from Carcassonne airport, and two hours from Toulouse and Montpellier airports. It is also accessible from Perpignan and Girona airport in Spain.
Narbonne rail station (with a connection via Lille to London) is just under an hour away.

We were immediately made welcome in a very friendly and relaxed way. Rosemary is a lovely person, charming and interested in her guests and the local area. It was a pleasure to meet her.

We had an excellent experience chez Rosemary. It is an old traditional house but with all modern conveniences. Rosemary was very helpful with her messages previous to our arrival and incredibly kind and welcoming during our stay. She gave us some worthy recommendations about the best spots around the area. This is definitely your place if you are looking forward to a truly local experience.

Cozy gite in an old village under the castle ruins of Termes. Rosemary was very helpful in explaining the area and what to see and do. We were lucky enough to catch a village festival the day before we left. Wonderful memories, nice people. Does require a bit of planning because the closest shops are a 20 minute drive through the hills away. Highly recommended if you are looking for peace and quite, beautiful nature and lots of history.

Our second Airbnb experience and another joy! Rosemary and Michael are very warm and welcoming hosts, who are knowledgeable about the local area and especially the walks, and generous in lending maps as well. We enjoyed some interesting talks! The apartment is charming, beautifully furnished, immaculately clean and well- equipped. The kitchen was a delight to cook in Termes is a stunning village dominated by the ruined Cathar Castle. The village is a maze of tiny streets and old houses. Luckily, with Rosemary's exact directions, we found her place with no problem!

We stayed here for two days last year and for three days this year . Next year we may stay for five days, need we say more? Every thing was just as we hoped it would be. Rosemary is an excellent host. The location maybe a little remote for some, but it suited us very well.

We had a great time in Termes. Rosemary made us feel very welcome and the gîte is a perfect place to stay. It is fully equipped and located in a lovely little old quiet village. When you are looking for shops or restaurants, you'll have to drive about 30 minutes or more but when you love the quietness in the real France, this is the place to be!
