The apartment was just as wonderful as it looked when we booked it. Great view of the canal. Quiet street but convenient to public transport and walkable to the center of Amsterdam. It is a third floor walkup, but this 70 year old handled it easily. Not the best for mobility impaired but Marsel warned me beforehand. Marsel was great host, warm and welcoming. I would book this apartment again, and recommend it highly.
His house is even better than the pictures, there is nothing you could miss. Kitchen is fully equipped, so if you'd be in the cooking mood you could even cook. The view from the big windows facing the canals is just priceless!
Marsel was an amazing host! Informative, supportive, and very kind.
Should I get back in Amsterdam I would definitely come back here!
Marsel is the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt really well looked after. The apartment was warm, comfortable, as beautiful as the photos and very well equipped. It's in a great location - near lovely little cafes and shops and an easy walk to the main attractions. I plan to go back to Amsterdam to see all the things I didn't have time to see and I intend to stay at Marsel's apartment again.
We had an amazing experience! The apartment looks even better than in the pictures, it is a fantasy apartment with a beautiful canal view in a very nice area, extremely Romantic and well equipped. Marsel is awesome, so kind, helpful and with a warm personality.
It is our favorite flat from now on, and we highly recommend it to everybody!
Marsel's place is wonderful: ideally located (you can easily walk to all the cool places in Amsterdam like the Joordan etc + you have buses and trams real close), the view on the canal and brick houses (from the bed, yes!) is soothing and lovely, the apartment has all the amenities you'd need and is very luminous.
We had a perfect stay, Marsel is a very caring host, we'll be happy to be back in his apartment someday :)
Staying at Nassaukade Was great! From the moment of booking I was in contact with Marsel. He was very helpful in telling us how to get to the flat as well. He was very kind helping us up the narrow Amsterdam style stairs. The flat was beautiful and exactly as was pictured. Marsel had told us he designed it himself.
He informed us of the surrounding areas. There was a coffee machine in the flat.
The only negatives for us, was that the beds were really soft (not supportive). As well it is two single beds put together and kept moving in the night. Maybe not the perfect beds for a couple. Had an Amazon large TV. I brought a movie on a USB and it was enjoyable on the big screen.
Regarding the shower, the press was quite soft almost barely pouring out as well as the time of our visit the shower wouldn't drain very fast and would over flow on 5-7 minutes. We informed Marsel and he happily said he would check it out. As well the towels provided were quite rough. But I was funny and not anything seriou. JJust maybe bring your own towels.
Over all, it was a great location and just far enough to get a different vibe. But still very central. There are pubs and coffeeshops and amazing bakeries a 5-7min walk away. Very easy to get to from central station even with a but of luggage as we had. Would highly recommend again!
We Had a lovely time at the apartment. Marsel was there to meet us at the first day and help us with all the stuff . The apartment we stayed was at the 3rd floor so there are quite narrow stair to go up. The location is about 20 min walk to the center or 10 min walk to a metro that takes to the area of the center, also lots of places around the apartment. Marsel left us a bottle of wine that was very nice! there is everything u need in the apartment from cooking stuff to towel and shampoo and he also left us maps and info about Amsterdam. He was there to book us a taxi and help with the stuff at the last day . Nice modern and quit apartment . Highly recommended !!

My name is Marsel van der Zijden. I love traveling and have in the past made many trips through Europe, South America and Asia. Some private and some business. I particularly enjoyed visiting the big cities because they are a window into the history of a country. And by communicating with local residents one can learn a valuable inside understanding of the social and multicultural construction that defines a particular city. One often experiences a piece of history of the country and its residents.
During my vacations I particularly enjoyed experiences that are different from the day tot day life that I am used to. The cultural life, museums as well as festivals, gastronomy, restaurants and bars, and nightlife gave me a real sense of the identity of a town or city.
I am a passionate consumer of all kinds of modern and classical music and I have no real preference for a certain type of groove. Being a designer myself, art is a very important part of my life.
I exercise regularly: mostly fitness, squash and jogging.
Amsterdam is a hospital city and offers a wide range of cuisines and restaurants. The city houses more than 170 different nationalities!
Enjoy your stay!
