About this listing
Villa Sunrise is a luxurious villa perfectly situated on the rice paddies and one side of the large infinity pool. It is the twin villa to Villa Sunset just across the pool. With a spacious living area and 2 huge bedrooms with ensuites it is a treat
Villa Sunrise, has the most amazing views of the rice paddies and the trees in the distance. You can watch the sunrise from behind sacred Mt Agung and also watch it set, all from your private deck next to the paddies. The villa has gracious spacious living, with very large built in wardrobes in the bedrooms and marble bench tops in the kitchen. The huge alang alang roof is absolutely beautiful, hand made with care. In the evenings a slight breeze blows in from the rice paddies through the huge glass folding doors. One whole side opens up to nature. We often have two families book into Sunrise and Sunset. They provide wonderful venues for celebrations and family re-unions.
The guests have access to rent bikes or cars. Matahari also provides drivers. As we are not far out of Ubud, sometimes guests like to walk into town across the paddies. We have massage on call, nannies on call, and Made the manager and his 6 staff are only too willing to advise you on any matter.
Interaction with Guests
As I am the manager, I am at Matahari every day. I am there when you arrive from the airport. Our security staff will see you to your villa if you have been out at night. I live only 3 minutes away, so I can handle any problem or advise you on shopping or sight seeing
I love this neighbourhood because it is my home. I was born and brought up in the village of Lodtunduh and I have a large family here. As manager I am very happy to be able to work with such interesting people as our guests. I think that we all learn a lot about different cultures
Transport is no problem here. I can call you a driver whenever you want, also, you can rent a car or a bike. We can arrange for you to rent a large vehicle if you have a large family, or group of friends
Other Things to Note
We have many return guests to Matahari Villas, some guests book in one year to the next. from this we know that the guests are happy, and that is the most important thing
We don't have any house rules, except for the normal respect that we all need to have for each other. Everyone is happy here, the staff, the guests and visitors
My wife, my nine year-old daughter, and I stayed at Villa Sunrise at Matahari for two months and found the place wonderful in more ways than we could have expected. The two-bedroom house is furnished with natural simplicity, the roofs are traditional Balinese thatch roof, and the layout of the place opened up to the unobstructed view of the fantastic rice paddies of Lodtunduh, giving us the feeling of being in the Ubud of decades ago. We enjoyed seeing the majestic sunrise over mount Agung, giving casts of beautiful pink and orange shades, and the flocks of ducks. The sunsets on the rice paddies were marvelous as well. The villa has ample closet space, and large contemporary bathrooms, one for each room. There is great airflow into the house, and the entire space, baths, bedrooms, everything can be opened up and closed up with sliding doors, so there is really no need for air conditioning. Every area has large ceiling fans, which cool the space efficiently.
Our daughter loved the nice modern swimming pool which is right outside of the house. It’s long enough for swimming laps. This feature we appreciated since many villa’s pools in Bali can be quite small.
Villa Sunrise and Villa Sunset at Matahari are next to each other with the pool in between them, and both are situated on the edge of the paddies, with the long side opening to the expanding views via folding glass doors. There are other nice houses within Matahari, but I feel Villa Sunrise is probably the best, being the most tranquil, with a great view, and farther out from the rest, yet connected to everything. It allowed us to do rice paddies walks right out of our doorsteps and venture across the field and to the road leading to the cute cafe at Warung Sopa Garden. We were also within walking distance of Warung 9, an artsy vegetarian warung on Jl. Lotunduh.
The staff were sweet, considerate, and efficient. We had everything cleaned in the morning, and any minor questions were immediately dealt with.
Our two months went by very quickly and we wished we could have stayed longer. Villa Sunrise at Matahari is superb and we will definitely stay there again. It came to my knowledge that this villa had been occupied by the owner’s family, and other long-term guests, so it has not been reviewed before in Airbnb, so let it be said that we wholeheartedly recommend Villa Sunrise.
Thank you so much Herman for your awesome lengthy review. I would smile every time I saw your daughter carrying Danny the cat around gently in her arms.
Yes, the pool is a major feature and my family who stay in Sunrise always appreciate the pool being situated so close to the front door. My grandchildren do laps in training for swimming competitions when they return to Australia. All of us
at Matahari miss you and your family and look forward to you returning to Bali. Stay safe!
