While we do not serve breakfast, we do stock the refer with some basic foods and you are welcome to cook in the fully tooled kitchen (There is a waffle iron and mix if you are so inclined). Please consider this your home away from home. I am in the rear apartment and normally onsite or readily and quickly available for questions or assistance. This is a great neighborhood NuLU and we are the only AirBnB here! If you want to see some of the things going on, (website hidden) "NuLu-East-Market-District"
There is also Bardstown Rd, a five minute drive: (website hidden) "Bardstown-Road"
Walk to NuLu's Market St in 3 minutes or use Billy Goat Strut Alley and be there in 2. There is a trolley to downtown across the street. You have off street parking which can be secured. You are with in a mile of all the major freeways and about 10 minutes from the airport.
Other Things to Note
Weekends require a 2 day booking.
There are 40 miles of hike and bike trails along the Ohio River less than a mile away.
There is a Trolley Hop Stop across the street - Trolley Hop happens every first Friday, a great chance to visit local artists, clubs and eateries.
There are extra (just in case) toiletries (razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes and toothpaste) in the bathroom. There is also a first aid kit in the bottom left drawer in the bathroom.
We strongly encourage recycling - to aid in that process we have a recycling container in the back hall. Louisville recycles almost everything - all plastics (except grocery bags - they have a separate container), glass, metal and paper. Please thoroughly rinse all bottles, glass and metal containers - thanks.

Great experience and a charming apartment. Tons of space and two killer fireplaces. So easy to walk around Louisville from! Would never stay anywhere else. Rik is a great host!
The apartment was as pictured and very nice. We were in town when the weather was cold (20s and 30s) and the furnace had trouble keeping up. The ceiling fans did help a bit, as did the gas fireplaces, but the floors were extremely cold. I realize it was pretty cold for Louisville, but not at or below zero. It wasn't a problem, but just something to keep in mind if you travel in cold weather.
One thing that surprised us a little is that the only door separating this apartment and Rik's is the door to his own apartment (entry to this apartment is separate and from the street level). Rik is a perfect gentleman and gave us no concern at all, but we thought it was worth mentioning in case this would make future guests uncomfortable. Rik also asked me to sign a renter's agreement, which surprised us a bit, despite it having been mentioned in the description. Just seemed like an extra/redundant layer to the transaction that had already taken place on Airbnb.
The location is great and just around the corner from several great bars, restaurants, and a coffee shop (Please & Thank You - fantastic coffee). Louisville is a great city with much to offer and it's extremely easy to navigate.
Rik was a wonderful host. He was extremely communicative in the booking process and greeted us warmly upon our arrival despite the horrible weather. When we walked in he had the fireplaces going to warm the apartment for us. A wonderful experience overall.
Rik has a really nice apartment in a great part of town. He was good at communication and otherwise was a pleasant host. He was available to help out and very quickly fixed a thermostat problem when notified. The Pearl is a great place to stay and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Excellent apartment. Large, shotgun-style setup with 12-foot ceilings. Excellent communications with the owner, who lives adjacent to the unit. I rented same-day, and there was no trouble at all. Kitchen has plenty of appliances; as with any rental, bring a good knife if you want to use one. Enormous bathroom that is well-equipped. The only drawback is that the shower water pressure isn't great. Parking was super-easy on the street (and the owner gives a key to an off-street lot if you want). Walking distance to Toast for breakfast, Harvest for dinner, and Rye for drinks, amongst others. Would definitely stay here again.
This a great place. Very spacious. The open fires are a great touch. The bathroom is huge with a great bath tub. There are some great coffee shops and restaurants around the next block. Would definitely stay here again.
Great place within walking distance to everything we wanted to do! We enjoyed the space and using the gas logs. We would definitely stay again.
