About this listing
2 bedroom / 1 bath fully equipped apartment in the heart of downtown Memphis, walking distance from city attractions, restaurants, shops, and nightlife.
The Exchange Building, completed in 1910 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, was refitted in 1996 to house 202 attractive efficiencies, one and two bedroom apartments, a penthouse, and handicap accessible units. While the building has undergone a series of renovations, every effort has been made to preserve its historic features, such as the original mosaic tiles, an early-1900s era Tennessee marble staircase, the elaborate plasterwork, and the granite surfaces. The towering marble ceilings of the lobby exude the elegance of downtown living.
The apartments provide a homey feel with a personal touch and high-quality amenities. Several of the units located on the higher floors provide our residents a spectacular view.
Situated at an unbeatable location, our apartments are great for a weekend getaway. Let yourself be inspired by the view and invigorated by the bustling and lively neighborhood. Rest up in our comfortable abodes and make sure to spend enough time exploring the giant playground that is the City of Memphis.

Interaction with Guests
Due to the increased interest in my apartments, I have hired on additional staff to help ensure a pleasant stay for my guests. I travel often, so I have a front desk staff with keys to all of my units so that you can check in at any time of the day with ease. The front desk also has access to the apartment maintenance and housekeeping crews between 9a and 9p daily. When I am in town, I try my best to meet and interact with all of the guests who stay in my apartments. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and host you!
Located in the heart of downtown Memphis, you will be walking distance from most attractions, restaurants, live music, and beautiful parks.
Almost everything worth seeing is within walking distance of our building. The world famous Beale Street is a short 7-8 minute walk away.
Uber is very active in Memphis. This is a great option for shopping and outings further away!
On Main Street, there is a trolley that can take you to all of the wonderful restaurants and shops at South Main (or anywhere along Main that you would like to go!).
There is also a public transit bus stop on our corner and the city's cabs will also provide transportation from here!
Other Things to Note
This apartment has four twin sized beds (two in each bedroom) and comfortably sleeps four people. There is also a pull-down couch in the living room that can sleep up to two extra people -- for a total accommodation of six.
While this is a pet friendly building, please inform me prior to arriving should you plan to bring a pet. Thank you!
This building houses many other residents. Please be courteous and keep excessive noise to a minimum throughout your stay.
Smoking is not permitted in any of my airbnb apartments. Evidence of smoking, candles, or incense will incur a fee for cleaning.
The good: This apartment, in a really great old Art Deco building, is in a great location, close to Beale street and all the downtown attractions. The views from the windows are stunning. Check-in and check-out were easy. The apartment is roomy, and five of us were able to stay there pretty comfortably. Although the apartment and its fittings are obviously old, it was generally clean and well-maintained. There's a parking garage nearby that is very reasonably priced.
The not-so-good: There were not many plates or glasses provided--not enough for five of us to have a meal together. The sofa in the living room folds out into a bed, but the mattress there is falling to bits. Although the bathroom seemed to be clean, the bath mat clearly hadn't been washed before our arrival, and consequently we worried a bit about the cleanliness of the sheets and towels. The beds are a bit uncomfortable and are covered with plastic.
Overall, I think this apartment is good value for money, and I would probably stay there again. I loved the building and its location.
Ok space - beds were very uncomfortable. Good area and it's nice that they have a concierge. Didn't like the rooms and no toiletries.
Very nice accomodation in a good neighborhood close to the musical and culinary hotspots of Memphis.
The flat was clean and functional, reception courteous and helpful.
Only drawback was that we booked for five people but the flat wa only equipped for four. And it was a bit of a hassle to get this remedied.
We had a great time in Memphis and in the apartement in the exchangehouse. The place was clean and large. We were five and yet we all had lots of space.
I can recomend the place and Mr Sardor.
Great location, clean, tidy. Perfect for the nightlife in Memphis. Comfortably fits 4.
A great place to stay and close to everything. Would suggest to people to stay and will stay again.

About the Host, Sardor
I was born in Uzbekistan and raised in Memphis. I'm the middle child, with 2 older brothers and 2 younger sisters -- and recently a 5 time uncle! I've been fortunate to travel the world in my early years and learned a lot about the different cultures around the world. I enjoy learning about geopolitical history, architecture, and technological advancements that benefit the myriad societies around the globe. To me, Memphis is an exciting city that competes with the great cities of the world as a worthwhile stop for play and leisure. Allow me to host you in my apartments, located in the historic Exchange Building in downtown Memphis.
UPDATE: Due to the increased traffic, I hired additional help to make the check-in process more convenient for my guests. The lobby now has a staffed Front Desk, where you will be able to get any assistance, should you need it (24/7). I hope to see you while you're in Memphis, but I do travel a lot and sometimes I miss out on meeting my guests personally. I hope you have a wonderful stay at The Exchange and please don't hesitate to contact me via Airbnb should you need anything.
