About This Listing
Our house is conveniently located in a safe and quiet neighborhood facing a pretty courtyard, but is still within a few blocks of Bardstown Road's bustling shopping and restaurant district. A cozy home-base for your Louisville stay!
The only place off limits to guests is our home office, which is also the only room that will remain a bit (email hidden)d-in mess. It is located off of the large green living room. Everything else is at your disposal!
We like our guests to have our house to themselves and to be able to get on with their vacation. We will leave you access to a key when you provide your estimated check-in time, and you can leave that key and lock up on your way out. Just let us know when you're leaving!
However, if you need any help beyond that - we are just a text/call away!
Our neighborhood is quiet and incredibly family friendly - but you can get into a happening nightlife within walking distance. Our house faces a courtyard instead of a street, which gives you a feeling like you're going back in time to the 50's. In addition to the walkable restaurants and bars - there are also plenty of great neighborhoods to explore near the Highlands only a 5 or 10 minute drive away. Germantown, Nulu, Clifton and Butchertown are all close neighborhoods we recommend you check out after you exhaust Bardstown Road!
We've put together a little walking guide with a map to our favorite spots. (You'll also find some info about other neighborhoods you'd need a car to get to.) Downtown is only a hop-skip away, which you can either cab/drive/or bus to (by car it is about 10 minutes away). There is a bus stop at the end of our sidewalk. The 17 will take you into Nulu and the gallery district, and then on to Main St. where you will find 21C museum/hotel and the Yum! Center. The 23 takes you down Broadway, where you can go to the historic Brown Hotel and 4th Street Live.
Also in our welcome guide you will find info like our internet password, how to work our TV, and anything else we thought you'd need to know about our house to make your stay complete.
Please try to limit wearing shoes in most of the house - we usually kick off our shoes in the back stairway leading into the kitchen. (We try to enforce this rule ourselves - but we understand that it is not always do-able!)
The stay could not have been better. Everything was exactly how Amanda described. Her place was perfect for our group of six people.
The Highlands neighborhood is lovely. Her location is very conveniently located.
Amanda did an amazing job making us feel welcome. We can't thank you enough. :)
Amanda made everything so easy! She even left coffee and chocolates out for us. The house was clean and exactly what our group needed. So much better than a hotel!
Our family had a wonderful time staying at Amanda's home in the Highlands of Louisville. The house was just perfect for our two girls (5 and 3). There were tons of games to keep the girls busy and they loved the bunk beds.
There surrounding neighborhood had tons of easily accessible activities. We hope to head back when the weather is a little warmer so so we enjoy Cherokee Park a little more. We braved the cold weather (low 30s) and went to Waterfront Park, which the kids loved.
The house was exactly as advertised. In a quiet neighborhood setting with a short walk to restaurants, bars, coffee shops and the like. Amanda was very helpful (with what to do and where to go) and accommodating. I would recommend Amanda's house as a place to vacation in Louisville.
Fantastic overall! Amanda was a great host and the home worked perfectly for myself and 3 other guests. The place was clean and tidy and had everything needed. Amanda quickly responded and addressed all of our questions. The guest booklet that was prepped for us was more than useful. Great location. Highly recommended!!!
Felt very welcome, easy check in and host was accomodating to our early check in. House was great, just as described, wonderful, walkable neighborhood.
Amanda's house was beautiful and exactly how it was listed. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The art and decorating in her home is amazing. So much that I left with some home decorating ideas of my own! She was very courteous and prompt with her responses to any questions that we had. I look forward to revisiting her place once I'm back in Louisville.
About the Host, Amanda
I'm an illustrator/sign painter and I live in KY with my graphic designer husband and his three kids. I wish I could travel all the time! There are so many places I have left to see! In a nutshell - I love soccer, the mountains, the beach, fiction reading, ridiculous action moves, and food (both the eating and preparing of it). I love backpacking and adventure (I thru-hiked the PCT in 2005, and hope to hike the CDT someday)... I also love well-designed objects and spaces.
The Kentucky Derby is the most popular time to visit Louisville, but we think it's pretty beautiful (and affordable) most of the year.
