The Space

This is an apartment I bought in 2006 to have a pied-a-terre in Paris. I mostly loved and still love the location and the building, sooooo Paris.

Le Marais is well known for its architecture, museums, restaurants and typical Parisian atmosphere. The apartment is 1min walking distance to the Bastille subway, a very convenient station to go anywhere with 4 main lines of subway. The city bus tour also starts at Bastille.
Nightlife is everywhere around: restaurants, cafes and music bars, open till late on rue de Lappe and rue Faubourg Saint Antoine. Also, one of the biggest supermarket in town is less than 5mins walking very convenient for a weekly shop and daily needs and groceries can be found easily on rue St Antoine, between 2 and 5 mins walking distance: wine shops (Nicolas +Julien Sauvignon), French Cheese shops, Chocolate shops, Naturalia, Church and Synagogue, etc, all less than 5mins walking!!

The Louvre is 10 minutes away by metro or by bus, Champs elysees, Opera, etc all direct by subway!!

The apartment is on the first french floor (with lift) of a 17th century walk-up building, giving onto a small quiet street. The main entrance gate is equipped with a security system (building code) and is very safe. This building has a nice paved courtyard with plants.
With its floor-to-ceiling window, you will enjoy luminosity and space.

The kitchen is equipped with a microwave-grill, a refrigerator with a freezer compartment, a coffee maker and a toaster. It is fully equipped with cooking appliances.

The bathroom is totally tiled (floor and walls). It includes a bathtub/shower, a washbasin surmounted by a mirror, and a toilet.

This apartment is recommended for a couple. and is large enough to accommodate 4 adults with to the sofabed.

Internet high speed included, Free phone to 103 countries (land line only).
The satellite signal for TV sometimes turn low for days! (So don't count on TV) but Internet/phone works very well.

  • I stayed at the Design Studio with my mother (first time in Paris) and my 15month old son. Although we didn't meet Rafi personally, Frances was very accommodating in spite of my not having read the instructions for entering the apartment correctly! The location can't be beat, right next the Le Marais, and the Bastille Market (Thurs & Sun). Great place!

  • The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Me and my friend Barbara had a wonderful weekend in Paris.
The apartment is very clean and in a good position: only few steps from the metro station "Bastille" on the yellow line.
The street on which the windows overlook is quite noisy, but at night we were so tired that falling asleep hasn't been a problem at all!! Neighbors instead are very silent and kind, as well as all the people we met in this amazing city.

  • Decent apartment, located very close to Bastille metro station and to a wide variety of cafes. All in all, a pleasant stay.

  • Nice and basic location, near bikes, metro, and Marais. Almost no sounds from the streets and a good Japanese on the corner, what does anyone need further ;-).

  • My husband and I were in Rafi's apartment for three days and had a very nice stay. The location is great: it was very easy to find, conveniently located a block from the Bastille metro stop, and an easy walk to the heart of Marais.

A few things of note: the apartment is on the second floor above a few shops and people on the street have an easy view into the apartment, so we left the curtains drawn most of the time so it was pretty dark in the apartment. The overhead lights in the bathroom did not work and there was a floor lamp plugged in the corner; the harsh side light made it challenging to shave and apply makeup. Also note that the shower has a hand-held nozzle, it is NOT mounted on the wall as shown in the photo. The towels provided were a little threadbare, so I might recommend bringing your own towel if you care about that sort of thing. Street noise was not a problem for us. The bed was comfortable. We had no trouble connecting to the internet, although the TV was a bit confusing (but who needs to watch tv when they're in Paris anyway!). All in all, a good experience.

  • Rafi's place was a great surprise!

We decided for this apartment but we were not sure about location (it was or first time in Paris and our friends suggested other "arrondissements").

Despite all of this, we were very pleased when we arrived: easy to get there, really beside the Bastille metro, close to many interesting places, all stuff working fine and a great support from the rental service.

The only thing we sould point out is that, despite the street being so quiet most of the time (calm neighbourhood), there's one store that uses to "drag racks" about 9 a.m. but not everyday. Not a big deal for us.

Thanks Rafi for making our honeymoon unforgettable!

  • My husband and I had a very comfortable stay at this apartment and it was at a perfect location and only 1 minute from the metro plus in the centre of many lovely restaurants and bars. Facilities are absolutely fine for a short stay. We advise to take ear plugs as the mornings are noisy in the road. Also had to keep curtains shut most of the time as shop beneath had customers queuing outside opposite throughout the day and could see in. Other than that we were very happy and certainly recommend this place. Thank you :)

  • This apartment was awesome!! My boyfriend and I only had a short time in Paris (3 days), but this apartment made us feel like we lived there. The apartment is right by Place de Bastille - a good Metro stop to get you anywhere. The apartment is right by anything you would need - grocery, pharmacy, cafes. The entrance to the building is locked with a key pad, so you feel very safe. The apartment itself was perfect! Big enough, clean.

My only complaint is that the tub drain was very clogged. We also couldn't ever figure out the TV.

We called Ferdinando (as suggested by the booklet in the apt) to take us to the airport. Although, it was expensive, Ferdinando was reliable, on time, and kind.

Whenever I return to Paris, I will definitely want to rent this apartment again! Thanks!

  • We spent a great weekend in Paris, due also to the fact that the Rafi's apartment was very well located. Even if it's a very small apartment, it has everything you need. Rafi was also very kind me to provide me a babycut for my daughter without any extracost. In the apartment everything was well working. There is a bar under your windows but we didn't feel any noise from there. Rafi's apartment is located between Marais and Bastille. The best bistro, museum, tourist attractions and boutique are in walking distance.
Internet and telephone were perfect. I don't like to watch television when I am abroad, but I'm sure that also Rafi's TV worked as any other thing in the apartment: defenetly well.
