This apartment is awesome and the location is amazing. It's a 5 min walk to Times Square and subways that go to every last corner of NYC. It's hard to list what is around it because it's everything - stores, restaurants, bars, clubs, museums, theaters, and central park, union square and downtown are fast rides from Times Square. But we usually hear that people like to walk everywhere.
The room is very private with closet, desk lamp, comfortable bed with memory foam and pillow. There is a curtain separation for part of the room as shown in the pic. Hangers are provided and there is space under the bed for more storage.
Also if you're on a budget the train from LGA and JFK airports come RIGHT to my place! This will cost $2.50 instead of a $70 taxi. And from Newark the shuttle drops you off at Port Authority also a 5 minute walk from us.
Feel free to roam the place, kitchen, living room, bathroom whatever, it's yours.
I love to hang and meet new people but I'm not intrusive. I work and go out a lot so you won't see much of me unless you opt to join.
The Theater District - the median rent for a 3 bed in this area is $6,300 a month. That's how cool it is. It's the throbbing heart of NYC. Where the Broadway stars live, where the shows are, the streets are wall to wall bars, restaurants, lounges, boutiques, and spots too trendy to fall into any of those categories. A great place to explore from.
There's 2 major subways a block away (A/CE and 1/2/3). Or walk to Times Square, all the trains come there. Every subway line is convenient. But definitely venture out to see all the areas.
1) Before arriving text me to to arrange a check in time. Then when you arrive in NYC, please text me to confirm you are on your way. Please do not arrive in NYC without a phone. It's so easy for people to get lost or delayed on the train. Flights get canceled or missed. So I appreciate a text to confirm you're in route so that neither one of us has to wait long.
2) We like to have check in after 6pm because check out is after 3pm. If it works with my class schedule you may be able to drop off your bags earlier. But please arrange this in advance.
3) Please keep to yourself and don't interact or talk with any neighbors. If anything makes you uncomfortable, definitely let us know. We have hosted hundreds of guests for more than a year. We love the feedback and are happy to help :-)
Remember you'll be sharing the apartment with others (this is one room in a 4 bedroom) so please be quiet after 11pm. Everyone travels on different time schedules. Some are rising early to get Broadway tickets, some of us work, school or acting auditions, some have early flights, it's important to be respectful to everyone. You can totally party all night long but outside of the apartment. This is a wonderful place to explore the city from. However, if you plan to watch TV and drink all night in your room or living room this is not the place for you. Feel free to go out and come back at 4am blasted though :-)
The apartment is really well located near a Times Square, and it's really easy to get around to other parts of the city using the local subway stop.
The room is as described in the listing.
Marilyn is a very relaxed pleasant host, and can help you out with things to do, places to go and restaurants to eat at.
I had a great stay, thanks Marilyn!
The room was loud, cold, and the bed was tiny for two of us. However, Marilyn was very kind and responsive to the problems we had. The location was amazing! We often had late nights and early mornings because of our business conference, but there was no problem getting around theajor routes of NYC.
Marilyn is extremely nice and thoughtful. The location is perfect for NY travelers. The room that I used is kind of small. I think it is for just one person. Overall, it was great!
Thanks for having us Marilyn.
Pleasant stay with Marilyn. The accommodation was as described. Must communicate through text only. Will not answer phone calls. Did her best to accommodate my check-in time, which was appreciated.
I will try to be very fair with this.
First of all, the location is unbeatable. I did not have to take one train ride the three days I was staying there. It is close to everything. EVERYTHING. It's in the center of hell's kitchen so many great resturants. Marilyn is probably the nicest person I have ever known and we spent new year's eve watching the ball drop together.
However, it does not mean I would keep my mouth shut about the other stuff.
This "room", is not actually a room but a portion of the hallway separated by curtains, which means you hear EVERYTHING. Of course in the middle of NYC I did not expect absolute quietness but even with earplugs I was able to hear the conversation of other tenants(and not to mention they were completely ignorant of your existence and attempt to sleep a curtain away). The apartment itself was not in a noisy street but it was more of other tenants that made the noise. Second, the bed was not an actual bed but a couch made into a bed with foam, it was also uneven because of this. I am average height for a girl but my feet were hanging outside. The hallway light was also broken so my "room" was in absolute darkness most of the time. However, Marilyn was okay with people using the kitchen which means you can actually cook your meals(I didnt). The shower was clean and water pressure was above average.
Sounds like you had an incredible New Years!! Sorry it was a bit noisy during that time it is not usually the case. Yes the bed is 2 inches shorter and separated in part by a curtain. This is clearly described in the listing. I find it very comfortable. We replaced the hall light, thanks for letting us know.
I spent the greatest holiday in New York. And Marilyn helped me so much. Thank you for everything. Without you my trip wouldn't be so special. If I will be in New York again I will stay with Marilyn. She was so kind and friendly.
The room is very similar to what is like in description. Marilyn was very helpful. She is the nicest host I've ever seen. The location of this place is very close to Time Square. Enjoyed this trip! However, on the last day, the lightbulb was not working and was needed to be fixed. It was pretty dark. But I am sure that she could fix it before next person arrives. The curtain needs to be tightened. I have met some friends from Germany at this apartment. The price is definitely worth it.

Welcome to NYC! We are two girls with two great apartments! It all started when George moved out and offered to help us find a new roommate on Airbnb. A year and a bunch of cool international roommates later, we love it!
We have typical busy NYC lives. We plan our schedules carefully to accommodate work, dance, art, dating, seeing shows and visiting parks and restaurants with friends. We're both obsessed with tea and cupcakes! Actually both our apartments are by fantastic bakeries and parks.
We are both very much people persons. And we feel it's our duty to make sure you have a great experience. Whoever said New Yorker's aren't friendly is wrong :-) come visit!
