Our warm and inviting home is located in historic Oak Park, home of Frank Lloyd Wright and Ernest Hemingway. The green line will whisk you to the center of Chicago in 25 minutes and it is less than three blocks from our front door.
Interaction with Guests
We are an international family and love to meet people from anywhere.
This house is a breath of fresh air and the family takes hospitality seriously. They are as caring toward guests and animals as they are knowledgeable about the area in which they live.I ended up with my own full bath, plenty of tea and wine offered, breakfast, comfortable and decorated living quarters, a quaint backyard, and a superb neighborhood for running and enjoying architecture. I found a restaurant with pizza indistinguishable from that of southern Italy, called Il Viccolo Trattoria just north of the train 4 blocks away. Elevated train green line into the city only takes about 20-25min. I highly recommend staying here.
The hosts Tom and Grace were completely gracious and eager to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
A lovely house in a beautiful neighborhood! We were conveniently located near stores, restaurants, and public transportation. Tom and Grace were friendly and flexible. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was well-stocked.
Grace and Tom's Antique Filled Home is exactly as described and reviewed. What a great location just a few minutes walk from the train to downtown Chicago, the shops & restaurants along Lake Street and Oak Park Avenue, Hemmingway's home, and the Frank Lloyd Wright sites. Grace and Tom are kind and considerate hosts.
Tom and Grace are wonderful hosts with a lovely home. They were easy to communicate with in advance. When we arrived, they offered us drinks and we had a great time talking with them. The room and bed are very comfortable (it's a queen bed, in case you're wondering). They'd left out bottled water for us and there were extra hotel-size toiletries in the bathroom in case we had forgotten something. They have a sweet cat and a gentle giant of an elderly German shepherd. They also had excellent advice about things to do and places to eat in Oak Park. (The Frank Lloyd Wright tours are worth every penny if you're into that, by the way.) We would recommend Tom and Grace to anyone!
Grace and Tom are a delightful couple, great hosts, and good folks
for interesting conversations. Their home is very comfortable and is
a museum itself with antiques and many conversation pieces. The house is an easy walk to the Frank Lloyd Wright Studio and Museum
( I highly recommend the 3 hour walking Wright tour of Oak Park )
and the Hemingway Museum. Also convenient to the train downtown.
I had a great time, even the dog and cat are good hosts.
