The house is located at 5,000 foot elevation at the junction of two wild rushing rivers, the Rio Chirripo Pacifico and the Rio Blanco in San Gerardo de Rivas on the slopes of 12,000 foot Mount Chirripo. The comfortable house is in a very private location with beautiful landscaping, a safe swimming hole, and a long river front on Rio Chirripo Pacifico which flows to the ocean and has been certified safe for drinking at all times of the year!

The space
We are 5 minutes walking distance to a general store, a scool, a Carholic church, and restaurants and bars in San Gerardo de Rivas. The village adjoins the entrance to Mt. Chirippo National Park. A new full time medical clinic with two physicians is being constructed within a short walk from the house. This is the perfect place to escape, relax and enjoy nature in an area with beautiful moderate year round temperatures and low humidity. Although rural and private in nature, it is a short 30 minute drive down the mountain to the modern city of San Isidro de General, and beautiful Pacific beaches are another 30 minutes further. I will attch a link for videos so you can get a sense what this place looks like.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to use the modern washing machine in a separate wash house with out-door clothes line facilities. Although the water is cold at that elevation, a natural swimming hole is accessed at the base of the river path where the property adjoins the river. A second path goes up the hill to a vista of the Rio Blanco heading toward the property and joining the Chirippo Pacifica at that very point below you.

Other things to note
Besides walking in, you need an all wheel drive vehicle, a mountain bike, or quad to access the house. Walking to the heart of the village is all uphill but very close. Come equipped with good walking shoes, and enjoy exploring many remarkable vistas.

Location

Rivas, San José, Costa Rica

San Gerardo's beauty is matched by a wonderful climate which is warm during the day and cold enough at night to require a blanket for sleeping. There are few insects and no snakes at this altitude, but an abundance of birds, butterflies, small native animals, and hummingbirds
