About this listing
Single private room in Sheffield apartment, located in the heart of the city. Close to Devonshire Green, as well as many bars, restaurants, independent shops & boutiques. Shared access to living room/training space, bathroom and kitchen.
PLEASE NOTE I WILL BE GOING INTO HOSPITAL FOR AN OPERATION & THERFORE MAY BE UNABLE TO RESPOND TO MESSAGES UNTIL EARLY DECEMBER!
A single private room available in my home, the room contains a single bed, a small computer desk, shelf unit, clothes basket and storage boxes. Bedding is provided, and clean towels are on the shelf in the bathroom.
There is a wireless internet router located in the living room/training space, it is also possible to connect to the router with a cable.
I'm a circus artist (I specialise in hula hoop, but I do other stuff too!) and I use my living room as a training space, so I don't have lots of furniture, but there are bean bags and soft things to sit on (which I can easily move away when I want to stretch or do things in there).
If you wanted to train in there that's fine too - I have an aerobic step, chin up bar, resistance bands, small weights, medicine ball etc. and lots of hula hoops.
At times when I am here and busy with my studies, I will often stay in my room which is also where I have my desk to sit and do my office/university work, so I can sometimes be a bit anti social working away. But at other times I may be in the living room stretching/training or just chilling out on the bean bags and watching a film on netflix.
You would have private access to a small bedroom, and you would be sharing the living room/training space, bathroom (which has a bath, sink and toilet) and kitchen (oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, clothing washing machine etc.) with myself and/or anyone else who happens to be staying with me at the time.
Help yourself to tea, coffee, sugar, rice and pasta. For health reasons I avoid eating wheat and dairy, so I'm unlikely to have bread or milk stored in the kitchen unless a previous guest has left some here. I might be travelling so I don't have masses of food stored so if something runs low please consider replacing it so that future guests have some basics.
I don't live in luxury, being a full time student means I don't earn lots of money to spend on things I don't really need, so for example I don't have a TV or games consoles.
But my apartment has the basic essentials, lots of circus toys and some fitness equipment. I try to keep it clean, and the location is very central.
A friend of mine who does not have her own washing machine, has keys to my flat and will pop round to do her washing, she will also be around if I am not here to let you in and give you keys.
If you are here while I am away travelling then you will likely need to top up the Gas and Electricity, these are on a pay as you go meter, there is a card/key which can be taken to a local shop and you can pay for as much as you need.
Interaction with Guests
I am a full time university student, so during the university semesters I may have lots of coursework to do, so I might have to hide away in my room doing that!
I may be away travelling, or at times staying in my home, this depends on when you plan to book your stay. Access to keys will be arranged while I am travelling.
I train quite a lot and I'm often busy with various circus related projects, so that pretty much takes over my life.
But if I am not too busy I might have time to show you around the city, or invite you to join us if we are juggling/spinning things in the park, or going to watch a show.
I often invite circus friends from around the world to come and stay in my home, so it is possible there may be others around at the same time you are here.
My flat is located very close to Devonshire Green which is in the city centre.
Ideally located for university students, walking distance to both Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield campuses.
Shops, nightclubs, bars and restaurants all very close by.
It's not far to walk to the bus interchange and Sheffield train station. The closest tram stop is on West Street.
Please be aware that if you are getting the Megabus to Sheffield, you will most likely arrive at Meadowhall Interchange and not in the city centre, from here you can catch a tram (Stagecoach Supertram) into the city centre (this is probably the easiest option and will bring you closest to my home, but there are also buses or trains from Meadowhall into the city centre).
Other Things to Note
I have taken time to complete my profile, describe my home and I have verified my ID. Therefore I prefer to host guests who have completed their profile and verified their ID. I may also ask to see ID on arrival.
No guests are permitted in the flat without my permission.
No loud noise at unreasonable hours.
Smoking is allowed inside the apartment, but not in communal hallways and entrance to building.
Please keep the place clean and tidy, and please be considerate of other guests.
Please do not use any fitness equipment that you have not been trained to use, I am not responsible for you injuring yourself!
I stayed with Charlie with a month and I felt like it is my home in Sheffield. Charlie's place is really clean and tidy, as she keeps it the same as the picture. The room itself is not large but it is enough for me as a student. The bed is really comfortable. She also has all the essential things in her apartment. She only gets bath in the restroom, I totally enjoyed it. But if you have to take a shower in the morning you may need to consider it. She also helped me do the laundry changed the sheets. She also gets the full kitchen if you would like to cook.
The location is in the city center, 10mins walk to the Engineering department and north campus of University of Sheffield. Tons of restaurants, bars and cafes are nearby. There is a Tesco express on west street, where you can do the grocery. It is close to west street too, as you would like to take the tram to train station.
The only problem I found in Charlie's place is that sometimes it is difficult to get the wifi signal outside the living room with my phone. But my laptop didn't have this problem.
Charlie is very nice, we talked a lot about our careers, our dreams and British culture. She is hilarious!
Charlie was really lovely when I came. Very accomodating seeing as I arrived very late. I was allowed to use everything in the flat and there weren't any restrictions. I definitely felt at home here.
I really enjoyed my stay with Charlie. She's fun and easygoing person. The apartment was clean and the room was comfortable. Would definitely use it again when I go back to Sheffield.
The apartment was very quiet, clean and in a safe neighborhood in the city centre.
The bedroom was as it shown in the picture, with a comfortable bed. The only problem that I had was with the light in the early morning because there are only curtains on the windows but a mask was the perfect solution for me. The bathroom was shared and it was ok, but there is only a bath. For me that was ok but maybe someone would prefer to have the shower.
Overall a good place to stay also because Charlie is really friendly and a open person and it was nice to talk with her about her special life in the world of circus :)
I stayed with Charlie for 6 nights which was a good experience. The place was nice and clean which is always appreciated but best of all Charlie is really laid back. I didn't feel like I was in someone else's space or getting in the way.
The only thing I would say is that if you're a ridiculously light sleeper like me then take ear plugs as the upstairs neighbours and pipes make a bit of noise. I always travel with ear plugs so it wasn't a problem and in all honesty it probably wouldn't effect the vast majority of people.
Apart from that it's a good central location.

Circus arts, cyr wheel and hula hooping is my life!
