Our property, home to The Birdhouse, was purchased in 2006 to house a bevy of thirty something dreams. The Bakery in Hancock, NY opened downstairs in April 2012.
Somewhere along the way The Birdhouse* was born. *So named by locals due to the lack of a roof and the feathered friends who took up residence for a long while.
Furnished with salvaged treasures and comfy beds -- The Birdhouse is a sustainable adventure.
Two guest suites, each with a full kitchen and a private bath, provide guests an unusual respite in the Catskills. PLEASE NOTE EACH SUITE IS A SEPARATE RENTAL. We will send a special offer to you if you are looking for both suites.

Our experience was easy-breezy and the space was really charming. We were only there for a quick night on our way through so we weren't able to see too much of the town though the surrounding area is gorgeous. When we come back for a longer stay we would definitely stay @ The Birdhouse again!
I grew up in Hancock and was in town with my family to celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary. We rented both suites which were located above the local bakery (convenient for tasty breakfast items and coffee). While carrying our luggage up to the second floor wasn't a problem for our family, it may be difficult for folks with mobility limitations. One suite had 2 rooms with 2 double beds and a roll-away, while the other suite had a double bed plus 2 single beds in the same room. We didn't use the appliances in either suite but everything appeared to be in working order. Check in was easy and Jackie always responded to my questions in a timely fashion. I would stay here again!
I was very comfortable at Jackie's. They've done a great renovation on a classic building. The kitchen is beautiful and I was able to watch a little TV & hang in the living room to catch on up emails. It's above a bakery and on a street that has shops & restaurants.
communicating with Jackie was very easy and she was understanding and helpful with my requests. I would recommend staying at the Birdhouse and exploring the beautiful area of Hancock.
We had a great stay...everything was super easy, from the booking and throughout our entire stay. The apartment is in a great location close to everything you may need and right off the main highway. It was clean and well appointed with everything we could need for our two night stay. The bakery below is a huge bonus. Would definitely go back again.
Everything was so easy. Key was available and Jackie called me to see if all was well. No check out time even though we left early to go fishing. Place was very clean and the renovations where really cool. Great bakery downstairs....cookies and macaroons where the highlight and the young man very helpful. I would go back again in the future. Thanks Jackie
My stay at the Birdhouse was easy to arrange, and any questions I had once I arrived were immediately answered. The apartment is quiet and peaceful. The chairs are soft and deep, and the couch is extra wide. The WiFi is excellent. There are some extraordinary hikes within a half an hour's drive.
The bath tub is really, really nice. Jackie stocks the place with locally made goat's milk soap with a great fragrance, and the hot water replenishes quickly.
A couple of times, there was noise from construction on the first floor as the Bakery was getting ready to open. This was compensated for by the occasional fragrant aroma of baked good that were to come later.
Host had excellent and clear communication throughout our stay. She also provided a list of places to go and and local shops and gossip of the area.
