This apartment is perfectly located to enjoy the vibrant city of Nice. It’s at the center of the “vieux nice” which means “old town”. The old town is connected to the beaches (5 minute walk). Unlike other villages, this old pedestrian is not a relic for tourists. Its actually an alive maze of artisanal shops, various daily markets and fantastic restaurants (be sure to get our recommendations). All you need to do is stumble outside and drift through the streets to be entertained. During the week there is a vegetable market and a fish market. A typical summer day for me consists of slowly putting together a local organic lunch. I usually get fresh seasonal produce at the market (place Massena), then to the spice shop, wine boutique (rose is a must for hot afternoons), then to the fish merchant. The fish merchants get their catch from the Nice bay, and you can see the fishermen out at night. Other days I’ll grab some hand made pasta and stop by the antique market. Everything is walking distance in this pedestrian zone. Summer afternoons can be spent lounging around with the windows open, letting the vibrant street sounds and frequent street musician music fill the apartment. You can smell when the fresh bread is ready at the boulangerie downstairs (amazingly open 7 days a week). You can see the end of the french Alps from the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom windows. Two blocks up is a mile long stretch of small art galleries. The same street turns into a mini LGBT neighborhood at night. There are at least a dozen nightclubs walking distance, and well as hundreds of café terraces to perch and people watch. Shopping is endless and there are many bargains. There are no chain stores in the “Vieux Nice” (Gap, Bennetton etc…) which I love. If you are feeling less lazy, you can catch a bus to Monte Carlo. We complete every stay with a visit to the Cousteau’s Oceaonographic museum in Monaco, as well as the Matisse museum up the hill. Italy is 3 freeway exits away. We go have dinner near the village of Andora, on the Italian Riviera, and have the best pasta dishes for cheap. The tram way that connects to the international train station is a 2 minute walk away, as is the bus stop that links you to the other sea side villages.
We love the crowd in Nice, they are very unpretentious and colorful. If you are looking for the Jet set this is not the city for you. Try our Cannes apartment (see other listing).
Downside/upside: It is a 4 floor walk up. This means you can have an extra croissant and a great backside, but it is a hike up the stairs! We spent months here –with a baby- but its not for everyone. Also, the beaches do not have sand, but thick flat rocks. The bay is amazing to swim in, but you need sandals to tolerate the rocks. I swim out 15 minutes and look back while floating on my back in the ultra salty Mediterranean and am always awe-struck. At night the beach turns into a massive 20 something hang out and pick up spot.
As you can tell we love this apartment. Its perfect for a couple. It’s a grand adventure with a baby. It sleeps 4 (2 couples) comfortably, except there is only a half wall separating the beds. Depending on how you see it, this is a good or bad thing!

The apartment is charming, the location great, and my stay was wonderful. At first the apartment was a little cold (in late December), but the woman who manages it promptly brought an additional heater. When the central heat started working it was warm and cozy. It is a charming place and I'd stay there again for sure!
Location is great right in the middle of old town, but place needs a good deep cleaning. Many essentials were neglected, No soap was provided, blanket provided was only long and wide enough for one person. (we have two) After requesting, was told extra comforter was stashed inside a broom closet inside a black garbage bag. All blanket and comforter has stains on it and comforter do not have cover. We have to pull the flat sheet (which is not wide enough for two either) really close to us to avoid touching the comforter. Bathroom was very small (you can barely turn inside) and the door cannot close all the way....and there are no curtains or any kind of coverings on the bathroom window. The window is right above the toilet facing directly at other buildings...we have to hang a t-shirt over the window. (btw the bathroom is only a little wider than the width of my husband's T-Shirt) The 4 flights of stairs is no problem for us at all but the noise is. We stayed for 6 days and during weekend and game night, the waves of noise from nearby bars will not stop till 4 am and that is when we were finally able to sleep. We knew some of the physical aspects of this loft is not changeable and we can tolerate that (the noise, the small bathroom) , but we wish they make a better effort to make it clean and comfortable and welcoming for a good stay and sleep. All other reviews left were generally quite good so I do not know if our stay was just an exception due to lapse of attention,( hope it is) or we are expecting too much from an airbnb.
Charming apartment in a very central location of Nice. A bit noisy during evenings and nights due to restaurants on the street. I got help when needed from the contact person in Nice. The stairs give you great exercise. I went up and down 4-5 times a day and ate my croissant with good conscience!
I traveled with my friend and the two of us loved Natasha's flat. Her place was beautiful and it looked just as charming as her pictures show. The location was perfect!! We were right in the the middle of all the action in Vieux Nice and the place was less the three minutes walking to the beach and the market. IT was an amazing stay.
We loved our stay at the apartment. Was so central and perfect for what we needed. In the middle of the old town so much to see and do. I personally think its way better than the big resorts. Way cheaper than a hostel for the both of us. Even though My flight was delayed and I took a while to get to the flat the lady meeting me was patient and super helpful giving me advice on where to go and what to do. We didn't hear the rubbish trucks only the hustle and bustle of the restaurants in the street which was nice to be in the middle of it all. Found a great cookie and coffee place just down the road that we lived at! Would definitely recommend the apartment and would stay here again if I ever go back to Nice!
I loved the apartment! It is very centrally located, it has a fan and a little air conditioning unit, and Roxanne (who greeted me at the apartment) was very friendly. Yes, there are 79 stairs to climb, but if you're in good shape, it's really not a problem!
My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon, where we were fortunate enough to spend several days at Natacha's flat in Nice! We had a wonderful experience there and feel that we made a really great choice in renting this space: ideal location, cute, comfortable and spacious, and well maintained! As "absentee hosts" ourselves, we appreciated everything Natacha did to assure that we had a positive stay, including hooking us up with Roxanna for keys and maps, making recommendations about food and activities and painting a really clear picture of the apartment and the neighborhood. Also, the beach mats were a lovely bonus! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to any of our friends!
nice apartment, central location. Great host
We had a lovely time in Natacha's apartment. It was in a perfect location! The apartment was in great condition too. She communicated very well and in a timely manner. Would visit again.
We loved our stay in the small but very cosy and nice apartment of Natacha Meritt.
We were with 3 adults and the beds were very good.
The only difficulty could be the stairways ( 4th floor) but we are in good condition. The lovely atmosphere to be in the center of Nice with all the nice sounds of the terrasses and people in the streets was very idyllic.
