The estate is located on the top of a hill, near Pienza, Montepulciano, Cortona, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Siena. There are four apartments, which overlook the garden of the villa or the grove of oaks beside the pool. Breakfast included.
The apartment is equipped with heating and cooking, has a separate entrance and overlooks the courtyard of the villa and the hills at the back. It is about a hundred meters from the pool. It is located on the first floor of the farmhouse and consists of a double bedroom, a single bedroom with a small toilette, a bathroom, and a living room with kitchenette. Internet is available in the courtyard and in common areas. In the apartment, because of the very thick walls, the signal is a little low.
Outside, in the courtyard, there is a space equipped with table and chairs for outdoor dining, for the exclusive use of the apartment.
At the center of the Estate is located the Villa with very ancient origins, already owned by Cacciaconti at the end of 1200 was chosen as a place of retreat and prayer on the part of the Blessed Bonizzella Cacciaconti whose body, guarded by an urn on the altar of the church of Trequanda, is exposed to worship at the solemn celebrations dedicated to her in the month of May of each year. Later, the farm became the property of the Piccolomini family, and in 1500 of the family who possess today.
The buildings surrounding the house have been restored and are now part of the farm, made even more enjoyable by a beautiful pool overlooking the surrounding countryside, and a large dining room where you can taste the products of the farm and spend pleasant hours in front of the fireplace.
Interaction with Guests
During the high season we offer a Sunday evening dinner guests of the farm, with the opportunity to taste the farm products (wine, olive oil, cheese and salami).
Every morning, breakfast is served in the lounge of the estate or in outer space in front of the hills.
During summer, it is possible to organize cooking lessons on Friday afternoon, following a dinner with food cooked together.
We had the most lovely time staying at Silvia’s house, and we absolutely cannot wait to go back. Everything was just wonderful at this agriturismo, which has the guest house next to the family house where Silvia lives. The villa was built hundreds of years ago, as Silvia told us, and had always farmed the land, though it did not become commercial until the 1950s. The villa is just so beautiful and picturesque, and it was exactly the authentic farm-house stay that we imagined for our Tuscan vacation, and more!
Our apartment was clean and spacious, and with the hundred-year-old details like the wooden beams in the roof and the small windows out into the picturesque countryside. Every morning we enjoyed the breakfast of baked goods, cured ham, cheese, jam, tea, and coffee, all to ourselves as we were the only guests at the time. At the end of a long hard day of vineyard-hopping in Crete Senesi and Chianti, we loved being able to enjoy Silvia’s wine, which was tastier than a lot of wines that we had tried during the day. Silvia grows her own wine and olive oil during the summer, and more products during the winter. She showed us the cellar and it was just so great being able to stay right above one of these cellars. Her pool was a nice touch, and we loved lounging there with a bottle of wine at sunset, amidst the splendor of the Crete Senesi landscape around us. It was also a perfectly central location to explore the Tuscan countryside - whether going out to Montalcino or Montepulciano, or visiting Siena or the Chianti region, or even out to Cortona.
We had originally planned to stay there for only three nights of our six-night stay in Tuscany. When we realized that our next reservation was not what we expected, we were only willing to cancel it if Silvia’s apartment was still available – and it was. We could not have imagined staying anywhere else!
Picturesque villa, perfect views, clean and historical accommodations, great breakfast, delicious wine, gracious host – we cannot recommend Silvia’s house more, and we cannot wait to visit again.
The highlight of our trip in Italy. Spent 3 nights in this wonderful Agriturismo and it was perfect - the breathtaking scenery by our window and the charming apartment and complete amenities. Breakfast was more than adequate. Silvia's place is truly worth recommending. Oh, but u need a car with a GPS to get here ... and also to make the best of your Tuscan trip. Nothing to fear about driving in Italy especially here for you will be rewarded with spectacular landscapes.
