This is a cozy garden-level apartment in our historic 1929 home right near downtown Salt Lake City. As a legal duplex, this lower unit is completely private with its own separate entrance, and features a fully functional kitchen and a full bath.

Located in SLC's Capitol Hill Historic District, our home is a launch pad for the airport, Great Salt Lake, Wasatch Mountains, downtown (Temple Square) and ski resorts. We know Utah really well and love sharing tips — from skiing to national parks.

The space
Our home sits at an elevation of 4500' and is on the foothills overlooking Salt Lake City. Despite amazing urban access, our neighborhood is quite quaint and known for its hills.

Parking in the driveway can be accommodated, but it is generally better to park on the street where parking is plentiful (and easier, our driveway is difficult to maneuver). We will provide a parking pass when the state legislature is in session January-March, as required.

We live upstairs and are very accessible for guests who prefer that. We do not smoke.

We are proud of our beautiful new space and appreciate guests who will treat it with care.

Guest access
The unit is not equipped with a washer and dryer, but our personal appliances may be used if arranged in advance.

Guests are also welcome to sit on our chairs in the front yard and take in the view.

Other things to note
We are parents to a one-year-old and you may hear some crying as he figures out sleep and life. We have provided a white noise machine in the bedroom to limit hearing him in the nighttime or early morning hours.

No smoking is allowed on our property, including in the unit, or in the front or back yard.

The unit is well-equipped with central air (A/C) and heat. We control the thermostat from upstairs. Please message us if you are uncomfortable with the set temperatures. We also provide a fan and extra blankets to account for some variability of preferences.

The bedroom does not have a door, so it's not private from the hallway, kitchen and living room area.

The unit has low ceilings in some places that would require ducking for guests over 6’2”.

Neighborhood highlights

Our home is at the meeting point of two historic districts: the Capitol Hill Historic District and the Marmalade Historic District. This area is on the foothills of the Wasatch mountains, meaning that despite the great urban access we have occasional visits from squirrels, deer and raccoon.

The neighborhood has a lot of hills and is known for many unique types of architecture. There are tudor and bungalow style homes, green spaces for walking, easy access to City Creek Canyon and Memory Grove, views of the city and a walking distance neighborhood restaurant (Arlo) and coffee shops (District Co. and Blue Copper).

Our home is a 10 minute drive from the airport and walking distance to Trax (Utah's light rail), the Utah Jazz arena, Temple Square, the LDS Conference Center, City Creek mall, the state capitol building and all of the downtown nightlife, concert venues, eateries and coffee shops. We encourage our guests to stroll the capitol grounds and to walk through Memory Grove. There is also an official tourism visitor's center right nearby.
