This is a cozy garden-level apartment in our historic 1929 home right near downtown Salt Lake City. As a legal duplex, this lower unit is completely private with its own separate entrance, and features a fully functional kitchen and a full bath.

Located in SLC's Capitol Hill Historic District, our home is a launch pad for the airport, Great Salt Lake, Wasatch Mountains, downtown (Temple Square) and ski resorts. We know Utah really well and love sharing tips — from skiing to national parks.

The space
Our home sits at an elevation of 4500' and is on the foothills overlooking Salt Lake City. Despite amazing urban access, our neighborhood is quite quaint, and known for its hills.

Parking in the driveway can be accommodated, but it is generally better to park on the street where parking is plentiful (and easier, our driveway is difficult to maneuver). We will provide a parking pass when the state legislature is in session January-March, as required.

We live upstairs and are very accessible for guests who prefer that. We do not smoke.

This apartment was completely renovated (new tile, carpet, cabinets, paint, furniture) and completed in January 2018. We are proud of our beautiful new space and appreciate guests who will treat it with care.

Where you’ll be

Salt Lake City, Utah, United States

Our home is at the meeting point of two historic districts: the Capitol Hill Historic District and the Marmalade Historic District. This area is on the foothills of the Wasatch mountains, meaning that despite the great urban access we have occasional visits from squirrels, deer and raccoon.

The neighborhood has a lot of hills and is known for many unique types of architecture. There are tudor and bungalow style homes, green spaces for walking, easy access to City Creek Canyon and Memory Grove, views of the city and a walking distance neighborhood restaurant (Arlo) and coffee shops (District Co. and Blue Copper).

Our home is a 10 minute drive from the airport and walking distance to Trax (Utah's light rail), the Utah Jazz arena, Temple Square, the LDS Conference Center, City Creek mall, the state capitol building and all of the downtown nightlife, concert venues, eateries and coffee shops. We encourage our guests to stroll the capitol grounds and to walk through Memory Grove. There is also an official tourism visitor's center right nearby.

Hi, I am a lover of the southwest desert, Mexican food, beautiful soccer and good design. I work for the Utah Office of Tourism, and as a host I am happy to offer advice for making the most of your trip around our state.

I am married to Jake, a water resources engineer, who loves much of the same with the addition of bicycling, kite flying, yard projects and newspaper cartoons. We share a car and dinner together each night.

I am a Salt Lake City native, but we have also lived in Phoenix, Boston and Durham.

We are experienced Airbnb travelers and aim to bring the friendship and high-quality experience that many of our favorites hosts around the world have shared with us.
