The beautiful Duddon Valley is also well worth exploring. The fells all around us are magnificent. In order to take full advantage of all the Lakes sites, it would be best to have your own vehicle.
We want our guests to relax in our home and enjoy our wonderful town and it's glorious surroundings. Mucky walking boots to be taken off before entering the house please. We are non-smokers so absolutely no smoking or 'vaping' within the house, outside only. Other than that, mutual respect.
Sheila was a wonderful host for our family’s two-day visit to the Lake District. She gave us a warm welcome, made us breakfast, booked dinner at a local pub and helped with laundry. She gave us great tips for visiting less traveled gems in the Lake District. We had great fun sharing the road with sheep and goats, hiking the Wastwater park, and crossing the Hard Knock Pass. Sheila’s home offers modern comfort in a historic house built during the Tudor reign. The village of Broughton-in-Furness does not have the generic touristy feel of some towns in the Lake District yet it is close to all the popular sites in the Lake District. We had a great time staying with Sheila.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback Tony. You and your lovely family were like a breath of fresh air through our home, such a pleasure to host. I am so glad you enjoyed our Lake District area and were able to take in some of the more natural beauty, as well as the very popular renowned areas. Hosting guests like yourselves is a perfect example of the joys Airbnb bring. All the best Sheila & Dave
Sheila and Dave are wonderful hosts who provided us with some fantastic tipps during our two days in the region. Thank you for the stay in your charming and well-equipped home.
Sheila and Dave were extremely lovely hosts. We felt very much at home and had a very lovely time at the house. Even before the arrival date, Sheila impressed us with her helpful messages of thoughtful informations and replied very quickly when we messaged her.
The house is well situated in the centre of the town, close to a few cafe, pub and restaurant. The house itself was very nice and clean. The beds were comfortable. Sheila let us share the kitchen and kindly provided us with toasts and cereals for breakfast, she even cut up some fruits for us! Overall, we felt lucky and very happy to have stayed at this house with Sheila and Dave. This house certainly played a big role in making our trip to Lake District very memorable.
We had a wonderful stay at Sheila's BNB! Even though we arrived quite late, Sheila waited up for us, gave us a cup of tea before she went to bed! Sheila and Dave made us feel extremely welcome and went out of their way to make our stay very pleasant.
the room was comfortable and the house was very warm and welcoming. There was a great family atmosphere. We would stay there again, if we were in that area.
We truly enjoyed our stay with Sheila and Dave. We used two rooms for the bank holiday weekend. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, living room with a fireplace - exactly what you need after the day of hiking or tracking in the Lake District. The property is conveniently located in the city centre with easy access to few local pubs. It's also a great base to access the Lake District attractions and various tracking routes. Sheila was very helpful with suggestions on the best route options for a day, hence, we had three great days - each different from another.
Thank you so much Andriy for your fantastic feedback! We are so pleased that you enjoyed our area and home so much. It was a pleasure hosting you and your friends, and imparting our knowledge of the area...given the poor weather conditions for 2/3 days, a really unfortunately wet bank holiday weekend! All the best, Sheila & Dave
Sheila made my friend and I very welcome, we arrived on a busy evening in the square and she advised us on where best to eat and booked the table for us. Lovely character property with spacious bedrooms. Sheila is a lovely host and offers a relaxed environment. Overall a great introduction to Airbnb which we'll both definitely consider again in the future.

About the Host, Sheila
I've loved living at Laurel Bank since 1996. I used to do B&B here early on. During those few years I had people from all over staying here. It will be good fun to rekindle those days!
I work as a T.A. at a local primary school (since 2000)
My husband, Dave, has lived here since 2003. He has his own business in joinery & carpentry. We love our village life.
Our home is at it's best with more people around. Our children (6 in all) have grown and left the nest (most still near to home), leaving us with 5 spare bedrooms! Our larger families (& friends) are from Liverpool, Nottingham & New Zealand, and they all love visiting us for good company, food, walks and real ale.
We love our local walks, short strolls and lengthier, more challenging, right from our doorstep. We also love our touring caravan, and often choose sites very close to home as our area is so gorgeous.
Travelling the world was a huge part of my life before children, and since Dave and I have hooked up we've enjoyed trips to Bulgaria, Spain, Singapore and best of all, New Zealand, touring in a camper van, north to South, visiting family.
When not working, walking or touring, we relax with good home cooked meals, movies, music, TV, reading, wine, ale........different sorts of all of them.......variety is the spice of life!
We have grand children now, and love their visits and the calm when they've gone home. Our home is very 'child friendly'.
We enjoy meeting new visitors at our friendly home
