ABOUT ME
Welcome, I'm Franca a creative and graphic designer but also owner of a gorgeus B&B located in the middle of the historical centre of Roma called ZOLILLA.
What is the meaning of this curious name? Well, the name its composed by "Zoli" (my last name) and "Godzilla". In fact the mascotte "Zolilla" is a kind of purple dinosaur, by the way, LILLA in italian means lilac!
I'm crazy for Japanese culture and food, in fact I study Japanese language. I love also design, art, books and electronic music.....and yes, I love to travel too. I travel very often across Europe, America and Japan.
I have a twin sister who helps me with this wonderful work.
We really like do sports, cooking and eating great food...we are italian!

  • I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

I flew into Rome and hopped straight on the train to Roma Termini, switched onto the metro line to Cavour stn and was at the B&B - so easy!

The room I stayed in was room 4. It was very spacious and clean and had everything I needed (even cute little candies on the bedside table to welcome me). The wi-fi connection was very strong too which was great for calling home.

The bathroom was at the end of the hall (but I believe the bathroom is internal in the other 3 rooms) This didn't bother me at all and the bathroom was great! very clean and cosy.

Chiara had breakfast ready for me every morning and it was a great selection of Italian pastries, yoghurt and coffee. Breakfast was always presented beautifully! (You can tell Chiara is a designer…very creative even with breakfast set up!)

The B&B was so central to everything and in a safe part of town so I was able to go for a run in the morning and visit the local restaurants and monuments feeling very safe. Extremely important for me as I was travelling alone.

    I will definitely be back!

  • The room is clean and comfortable and in a secure building, and the location is excellent for getting around Rome. There were extra blankets and pillows in the closet and lots of closets and drawers for storing clothing. In the bathroom, a hairdryer was provided along with soap, shampoo, etc. When I told the host that I was having problems charging my ipad, she called an electrician to make sure the electrical outlets were working correctly.
The major downside is the array of overly-processed, sugar-laden, prepackaged breakfast offerings served each morning. Cereal was also available, but unfortunately was Sugar Frosted Flakes and Coco Puffs. I bought a loaf of bread to make toast for breakfast but found no toaster in the kitchen. Thankfully, the fridge was stocked with yogurt and there was a Nespresso coffee maker that made excellent coffee.
I know that the law states that food items must be individually wrapped, but surely higher quality prepackaged foods are available! My recommendation to the host would be this: instead of providing a half-dozen inferior products, provide one high quality item that someone would want to eat.

    Response from Zolilla B&B:

There is a law for every Bed&Breakfast in Roma it says "hosts must serve on the table prepackaged foods only for breakfast" for hygienic reasons is forbidden to serve foods without packaging, so next time I recommend to her to choose a hotel not a B&B if she prefer fresh brioches. We serve typical italian breakfast, if you don't like prepackaged brioches there are a lot of things you can find in our kitchen like:
    yogurt,milk,butter,italian,Nespresso,coffee,honey,cereals,Nesquik,jam,italian toast,cookies,fruit mousse,Nutella,tea, fruit juice etc.

  • My boyfriend and I decided to stay at Zolilla place just for a week end (in Room 3). The room was very comfortable, clean and beautiful and the location was perfect to visit Rome by feet.
Thank you very much Chiara for the outstanding service. Even though we left the room at 5 a.m in the morning to take our plane, she prepared the breakfast for us. Thks a lor for all.
We would definitely recommend Zolilla place and we will definitely come back.

  • This was an absolutely great place to stay. It was extremely easy to get here from Termini station. I was able to walk to everything I wanted to see, though it is also very close to the buses and metro if there is some place farther away. The whole room and place was beautifully decorated. There is plenty to eat at breakfast including yogurt and cereal. Chiara was very helpful and had plenty of recommendations of where to go for real Italian food. I highly recommend Zolilla!

  • I had a brilliant stay at Zolilla!
The location is great and meant that I walked everywhere. It was only 10 minutes down to the 'Ancient Rome' part of town and 20 minutes up to the Spanish Steps. I felt comfortable as a young female walking around in the evening as well, which was good.
The room itself was lovely. It was big and had lots of wardrobe space. Franca kept the room clean and it was always a nice space to come back to at the end of the day. The only downfall was some residents at other B&Bs in the building, something that Zolilla couldn't control! One evening the people the other side of the wall to me were quite noisy. It was only 1 night out of 5, and I imagine only a concern for room 3 which shares a wall with another place, but something to consider if that's likely to annoy you - pick room 1 or 2!
The breakfast in the morning was great. A big range of things on offer and some good coffee! I was up early for a conference and breakfast was always ready.
Franca was very welcoming! She provided me with a map and tips on where to eat locally for good, cheap food (I particularly loved the 'Tipsy Cow' on via Urbana. She also said that I could text her at any point if I needed something. Whilst I didn't need to do this, it was good to know.
Having the bathroom at the end of the corridor is not ideal, but I knew that when I booked the room.
Overall a great place! It's clean, it feels safe, Franca was lovely and the location is perfect.

  • I was visiting Rome for 4 days and decided to stay at this beautiful place. I really enjoyed living at this apartment, it is very comfortable, cozy and beautiful! The host is super kind and nice, I had a fantastic breakfast with real italian goods and wonderful coffee every morning. You have all need for a comfortable visit at this apartment, it is new and very spacious. Also, its location is perfect, its right in the center and very close too all the monuments. I didn't have a car, but it was easy since I could walk everywhere. Also, it is very close to Termini station, I walked and found the apartment without any problems. I would DEFINITELY recommend this apartment and I will definitely come back.

  • Ottima accoglienza, simpatia e competenza. Grazie per l'ospitalità mi sono trovato veramente bene. Ottima posizione, camera pulitissima e servizio decisamente lodevole. Un grazie a Chiara e TANTI AUGURI PER UN SERENO NATALE E FELICE ANNO NUOVO!

  • Grazie Chiara per una visita fantastica! Chiara was a friendly, gracious and thoughtful hostess, and it shows with her extra touches throughout the Zolilla B & B! It is very clean, nicely decorated, and central to everything one wants to see when in Rome! I would reccomend Zolilla to anyone who wants an enjoyable and affordable stay in Rome!

  • Zolilla was a great place to stay! The apartment was clean and very cute! Every morning a very nice breakfast is already waiting for you. The location was great as well - close to the train station, metro line, and many of Rome's attractions. Even though it's on a main street, the building was quiet. The host was there to meet me when I arrived to walk me through the apartment, and give me great suggestions on where to eat dinner. I highly recommend staying here if you visit Rome!

  • Near the station side. The owner was very friendly. There was a small problem with the room, the owner gave the white wine with the repair. I came back to my house, I drank the delicious memories with. Thank you. Always be happy :)
