Staying at Josh's place in Haight-Ashbury was smooth and convenient. The location is in a very historically significant area in SF, you need to read up about it before you go - for fun!
We had Room 3, located on the 3rd floor. The house is set up with multiple individual rooms that are locked via keypad which I thought was pretty cool and easy. The place has a very communal feel like something in Europe similar to a hostel but with enough privacy. You might run into a few other travellers in the hallways, the one's we met were very friendly.
While we didn't have a chance to meet Josh, his communication was straight-forward and thorough - no fluff.
If you're planning on checking this place out I would advise NOT having a rental car, you don't need one because the transit is pretty great and parking is tricky to put it lightly. We had our rental for 2 additional nights and after taking it out for the day finding a spot at night was tough - granted we were there on Memorial Day weekend.
The area is interesting, the hippy vibe is still alive with some of the remnants of the golden era still lingering and some not some much. There's lots of bars and restaurants but a quick walk up Cole St. will get you some nice spots including an authentic Mexican restaurant, a Crepe Restaurant, Italian at Bambino's and most importantly a 50's style inspired Ice Cream bar.
My girlfriend and me stayed at this place for three nights in May and really loved our stay. The house is very nice and we had a spacey room. Haight-Ashbury has nice features like the park, lots of restaurants and bars and it's easy going downtown by public transport. We didn't get to meet Josh but communication was very good.
Finding a parking spot in the neighborhood was a bit tough for us for the few days we were there.
One downside is that the walls are so thin you can hear pretty much everything going on in the other rooms (including in the shared bathrooms).
Another one is that the windows aren't well isolated (at least in room 3), so if the outside temperature is cold you may want an additional blanket.
Otherwise everything's clean and the place is pretty well situated in the city so I would still recommend it since it's one of the cheapest Airbnb rooms in SF.
Pros: Excellent location, easy keyless access to house & room, comfortable bed. Cons: room was almost barren with no tv, flat uncomfortable pillows, no bottled water as promised, rusty leaky bathroom sink and tub
Great situation near haight street. Easy to find bus and visiting sf. The room si clean and bathroom too. Sometimes a little bit Cold because the air go by Windows and Walls. We haven't see Josh, just contact by mail. If you Want find people, you can't here. Downstair you have fridge and micro wave that's it and you have room and bathroom. No common Space .
We never met Josh, but everything was perfectly arranged and with all the details you needed.
The place is beautifully located, and your room is in the cutiest little real SF-house. Everything was nice and clean, and we parked for free one block away for all 3 nights.
I would always recommend this place!
