Our neighborhood is great because it's quiet, it's pretty, and it's near the Mill River path that leads to Smith and downtown.
The public bus stop is a ten-minute walk away.

The hosts were very kind and welcoming and promptly explained the basics of the room, getting into and out of the house (I was planning on going out and returning after midnight), etc. They were both easy-going and friendly.
The room as well as all shared spaces were bright, comfortable, and clean. I like that they have travel-sized bath and body products in case you forget something- it's a nice touch! There are a number of instructions for your stay in the house (e.g. how to handle garbage and recycling, what plates to use, stripping the bed, etc) and these are clearly spelled out on a sheet of paper so you know what to do.
The room was just lovely, small but indeed bright as advertised. The house was spotlessly clean. I love Julie's sense of decor. The home is easily located within walking distance of downtown Northampton and of Smith College. The weather -- well, that's out of Julie's control -- but she did keep the driveway and sidewalks cleared nicely. I would love to stay here again any time I'm in Northampton.
Being guest at Julie's place is ideal if you are on your own and need a warm and comfortable stay in Northampton. Arriving late or leaving early, it all works.
Would certainly go agian next time
I made this trip on short notice and Julie & Dan were very responsive and accommodating to my scheudle. The room and house were quiet, nice, and clean. Since it was winter I only got to see snow and grey skies, but I imagine the view of trees would be quite lovely in the summer. I'd definitely stay here again and hopefully stay longer!
The room was comfortable and pleasant . The kitchen was a attractive, well organized and inviting. Julie was friendly, helpful and welcoming. The house was conveniently located. I was attending classes and regretted not being able to explore the neighborhood more. I do however, agree with a previous review that noted the lovely old bath tub. It does sit quite high from the floor. I am not super agile and did not find it difficult to use, but perhaps some might.
My visit at Bright Single Room was fabulous! Everything was exactly as described. The room and rest of home that I accessed was impeccably clean and orderly. I did not get to meet Daniel this trip however Julie was kind, helpful and communicated promptly. The street was very quiet yet not too far from all the wonderful cultural offerings and fantastic food Northampton has to offer!
