A lovely house in the Umbrian countryside with a very pretty terrace right in the olive groves. Just a bit tricky to find, but luckily the white boxer dog Gina is not anything close to a guard dog and she more than happily gave us access to the property.
Iriana and her mother in law was warm and friendly to new, oriental people. We are new to all about italia. The host made us very cosy. As you know, this house has several house rules. Yet it was thankful because we can know what the hosts want to do to the guests definitely . We could know what we have to do or not in the new country. They're smart and honest host. Fortunately we stayed in the green garden. There was beautiful Sunshine and really fresh air. The whole house was too big to a couple and the double bed was a little bit uncomfortable for us. Anyway thanks iriana for all. Regards ...
Our stay at Irina's place was only one night but it was very comfortable for our family with two children. Irina was there to meet us when we arrived which was really nice. The location was not too far off the highway and easy to get to Assisi, which was the only place we had time to visit. A major shopping centre is within a fifteen minute drive. We like to do our own cooking so if we had stayed longer the small kitchen may have been challenging, but it was fine for the one night. Our children really enjoyed playing with Irina's dog, Gina!
Irina is 'very connected' and communications were easy and frequent with email. The house is behind a private gate and beside a small river with olive trees in the yard. The bedrooms are large and the living room is spacious with large windows. It is a bit isolated from town and a car would be important at this location. We stayed here for 5 nights using it as a base to explore the Marmore Falls near Terni, the Frasassi Caves near Fabriano, Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, and Todi. There is a large grocery store about 10 minutes away by car. There was an extra charge for gas for the heat and cooking that was about 20€ for the 5 days. We cooked our dinner three times plus all breakfasts. And it was chilly, being early March, so we required more heat than you would later in the season. Irina was very helpful and accommodating and spoke English well. If she was not around, her mother-in-law came to help with things. We would recommend this very reasonably priced house to anyone with a car.
There is a flour mill in a large white house at the corner of Via A. Canova, near where Irina's house is. We were looking in the window one evening when the grain was being milled and the owners invited us in and gave us a tour of the whole mill. They were obviously proud of what they had built. It has been owned and operated by at least five generations of the family. The grandson is turning the original equipment into a museum in the basement and gave us a tour of that as well even though it is not yet completed. They also sell olive oil made by the grandfather. Be sure to stop in.
Good value for money - this very clean, and well appointed house made a great stopover for us on our journey north to Venice.
The house is next door to Irina's so she is in hand to help with any suggestions you might need, but otherwise you have complete privacy. There is a large porch with a view of the hills and a back garden full of olive trees. The dog is always pleased to see you and good outside company - especially if you like throwing sticks.
Inside the house is huge, with a big double room, and another twin room. All that you would need is there - except proper heating so a little chilly in winter. There is a electric heater, and the bed is very warm and comfortable.
Highly recommend this place if you want to explore Assisi (20 mins drive) or any of the other beautiful Umbrian towns.
We found this lovely house through airbnb and were attracted by the price. It turned out an ideal choice. Being outside the centre of Foligno, we were able to park the car and explored the surrrounding coungtryside of Umbria with ease. However, it does help to have GPS to locate the place. I thought I had the maps of the whole of Europe on my TomTom, but found in Rome that Italy was not included. Irina very generously helped me by using her computer to purchase the Italian maps and download them to my TomTom.
Very good location - a car is a must though. Irina was very helpful and kind, provided us with all the information we needed. House looks far better live than on pictures - it's very spacious, clean and nice to stay. We wished we stayed there longer:) thank you a lot once more!!! the dog - Gina is absolutely adorable, nothing to worry about, she won't enter the house so she is well trained as well :)
The place was up to expectations, nice to spend a night. Recommended
Irina was very easy to reach upon arrival. I was about 4 hours behind the rest of my travel companions and because we arranged it beforehand, she was very accommodating to them even though the reservations were in my name. It was a little outside the town of Foligno and might have been difficult to access without a car. The place was clean and spacious. The second bedroom did not have a door, but a curtain instead. The bathroom was clean and there were plenty of towels.
I was there with a friend of mine for 6 days and 5 nights. The place is very quite and immersed in the nature. We moved with two bycicles to the beautiful and pictoresque places in the neighbourhood.
In the apartment there is everything a family or two people need to relax and spend their holidays. There is a little but very nice terrace where we used to eat in the evening after a long day under the burning sun.
Their dog (Gina) is the niciest dog I have ever caressed in my life.
Irina and David were there for everything we needed and she replied soon and efficiently to our requests.
Very satisfied of this experience!!!
Thank you Irina and David...and Gina ; ) !!
