An affordable indulgence in a quiet locale near downtown & Spokane Valley. On Sacred Grounds offers traditional hospitality with modern amenities. This lower South Hill private accommodation incl. private 2 bedrooms (queen & full beds), adjoining bathroom, living room with a couch/futon, mini-refrigerator, TV, piano, & shared access to a full kitchen (450+ sf). Comfort & relaxation reigns supreme. Hot breakfast avail. when schedules permit & incl. omelet, French Toast, pancakes, & more.

The space
Imagine a tranquil oasis with sublime comfort and peaceful relaxation like home. The Linden Suite contains two separate sleeping areas: a luxurious, feather-soft queen sized bed located in the Linden Room (sleeps one or two) and a full sized bed in the Palouse Room. The living room has a black couch that converts into a futon. Relax on a leather couch, play a tune on my Chickering piano, watch your favorite TV show. My 'smart TV' allows you to access your Netflix account.

The two bedroom areas are connected by a 3/4 bathroom. Guests can listen to classic LPs or classic CDs and view DVDs on a large-screen TV. Elaine allows guests to play her classic, Chickering console piano in the living room.

Up to 4 guests can dine in the kitchen which features an electric stove and oven. A cribbage board and pinochle cards can be found in the Linden Room vintage-style bureau. Elaine also provides a mini-refrigerator stocked with milk and juices, and a filtered water dispenser in the living room area. A gluten-free toaster is available upon request. Breakfast will include ready-to-eat breakfast meals, fresh fruit, milk, juice, coffee, and/or tea. Additional menu items include Russian Bread Pudding, the host's original "Italian Omelete" or buttermilk pancakes. This is contingent on the host's and guests' schedules
.
For the coffee aficionado, Elaine serves Wood-Fire Roasted Coffee (Americano, latte, cappuccino, or drip) and can regale her guests with some historic and obscure facts about coffee's origins through her AirBnB experience: Romancing the Bean. It is part coffee-tasting, part lecture, and game. What a great way to spend a morning before heading out exploring the area! Concierge services (including developing itineraries or making reservations) are available upon request.

Displayed artwork [in the Palouse Room] and paracord key chains [the living room glass case] are available for sale. Guests can enjoy the photography of local farmer/photographer, Richard Slover from Valleyford, WA shows glass framed photographs of iconic Spokane views and Inland Northwest scenery. [Please pardon my flash when it reflected off the picture's glass.]For all guests, you will find a copy of today's newspaper awaiting your perusal on your bed and a welcome platter for your enjoyment the day you arrive.

For larger families, the entire home can be rented which includes the first floor and basement area {Franciscan Cellar} and back patio. The listing is known as the Historic 1913 Craftsman Home.

Please note that the evening rate is determined by two factors: the day of the week and the number of guests booking. For each guest beyond 1, an extra guest fee of $9 is accessed. Discounts are offered for multi-night visits.

Where you’ll be

Spokane, Washington, United States

This is a quiet neighborhood of single-family homes. Most date to the turn of the century. Guests can enjoy a delightful walk along tree-lined sidewalks. Fred Meyer (which is a grocery & full department store) is minutes away on foot. Excellent dining options are available within minutes on the upper South Hill and nearby Spokane Valley. Elaine has her favorites. Sheridan Elementary School is located three blocks west of the home; guests need to be mindful of children crossing when driving through school zones.

My son, Alex, and I operate On Sacred Grounds AirBnb. I have been in the hospitality business for over a decade. Before becoming an AirBnB superhost, I owned and operated my own coffee house. I love coffee! I am have developed an AirBnB experience about the history of coffee called, "Romancing the Bean". It involves some lecture, sampling, and demonstration. Ask me about it and I may give you a little "taste" of the course. My other interests include playing piano, literature, art (enjoying the works of others), and out-door activities like walking and gardening. I am in training to undertake the Camino de Santiago in the Fall of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) This listing actually includes three separate accommodations: On Sacred Grounds https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/22018856, the Franciscan Cellar https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/31387409, and Historic Craftsman Home https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/37432771 . Did you know that the word for guest in Latin is the same for host, hospes? Etymologically speaking, a shared relationship develops as a result of that encounter. My motto: You never get much out of life if you clench your fist shut. By offering hospitality and kindness to others, you will receive a great deal more than you give.

During your stay

Hospitality is a major component of the experience for anyone that books at On Sacred Grounds AirBnB. If I am home, you can expect that I will come out and greet you when you park on my driveway (located off Florida St) and I will help you with your bags. If I am not home, 24-7 check-in is an option is available since I have a key lock box on the front door. While cereal, coffee, tea, milk or juices are always available, hot breakfast can be easily coordinated. Options include Pilgrim's bread pudding, Italian omelette, buttermilk pancakes, or French Toast. The breakfast meal is already calculated into the cost.
Upstairs guests have access to my kitchen for lunch and dinner. Guests will be shown which plates, utensils, pots & pans they can use.

After initial introductions and morning breakfast, I will recede into the background. If I am needed, I am only a call away. I reside on the premises and want to be able to attend to all guest’s needs. While I enjoy talking with my guests, I respect their privacy.
