Apartment NIKO was truly the perfect space for us. We were a couple and a single traveler driving down the coast of Croatia with Dubrovnik being our last stop in September of 2014.
The apartment was a little difficult to locate as the "street" was marked but is not really a street but a stairway alley to which numerous homes open onto. (Be warned, if you cannot manage stairs this apartment is not for you and overall the city may be difficult to manage) Vesna however saw the lost American looking for her apartment and came to Vesna welcomed us warmly, took us to the apartment, explained the keys, the washer, the window shutters and was very responsive via email when we had questions.
The space is very charming, homey, well decorated with art and books and appears to have been lived in, not just decorated for the benefit of travelers.
The views from the windows are as pictured and absolutely perfect. The location also could not be better and is very close to the old city, a store, a bakery and car rental. As mentioned, anyone with difficulty managing stairs should not consider renting here.
There are two toilets which is nice, the bedrooms are not next to each other which adds to privacy, the kitchen is very usable and we were able to cook several meals here. The garbage outside was difficult to locate but as Vesna was so available when we needed assistance, it too was no problem.
This apartment was a great find and I am so happy we chose to spend 4 nights in Dubrovnik. Very beautiful city and comfortable accommodations.
We stayed 3nights at Vesna's apartment for the honeymoon and it was the very best choice ever. Awesome view & perfect accessibility to old town, beach, and everything. We could enjoy breathtaking view of the eastern part of Grad Dubrovnik just from the window. All rooms were more spacious than expected and everything we needed was all set. I was 2months pregnant so had to cook by ourselves cuz of morning sickness and Vesna's kitchen was great place to cook.
Vesna welcomed us at home when we arrived. She was very helpful to let us know all about her apartment and main point to go. I will highly recommend apartment NIKO to every air B&B member considering travel to Dubrovnik.
We communicated with Vesna before travelling as our flight arrival time was late evening. Vesna was great! She arranged for a taxi to collect us from Dubrovnik airport (at a great rate!) and met us with a warm and friendly greeting at the apartment. Its just as described; spacious, homely and well furnished, with stunning views of Dubrovnik and Lokrum island. Location is excellent. Its five minutes down 130 ish steps to the coast road, with the town beach immediately to the left, and Ploce gate to the old town immediately to the right. Just 100 yards from the apartment is the cable car station which sweeps you to breathtaking mountain top views of Dubrovnik and the archipeligo (go before sunset for magical views over a beer or a meal). At the cable car station is a bus stop for the local buses, and also an airport transfer coach (just c£3 per person!). The shop where you buy your coach ticket will store your luggage if you have time to kill and want to explore the old town. We stayed in Dubrovnik for four nights, then travelled to Korcula for four nights. Vesna was very kind and arranged for her husband to pick us up and take us to the ferry port (about 15 minutes in a cab..care! the ferry port is not near the old town!). We would definitely recommend Vesna as a perfect host and her apartment, which has everything you could need. Thanks Vesna!
The apartment in Dubrovnik was perfectly located for a short stay in the city. We had never been to dubrovnik before but found it very easy to find our way to and from the old town and the beach back to the apartment. There is a small supermarket less than 5 mins walk (on the way to/from old town) and the old town itself is around 5 mins. The apartment was great, we found the bedrooms a bit hot but the weather was really hot and there happened to be a beach party one night which meant we had to close the windows to block the noise, but other than that it was perfect! Highly recommend to all.
Vesna is a warm and very helpful host, willing to help in any way she can.
It's a lovely apartment with everything at your fingertips, comfy beds And perfect views out the windows. We stayed for 3 nights and Would definitely stay there again.
I love travelling and meeting people. I visit, at least, two destinations every year. I work in the field of tourism since 1980 as incoming department manager.
